This game was just barely charming enough that I want to be nice to it, but this is the most amateur-ish half baked deckbuilder I've ever played. The music was nice.
It's a homage to Inscription, within the "Placid Plastic Deck" franchise (?). I completed the game in ~4 hours, and don't have any desire to go back for the other endings. They've got a great premise and engine here, but it's very half-baked. The first half of the game, you spend travelling around trying to collect cards through a series of minigames. When the minigames actually include playing the game, it was fun enough. Around 4-5 times, you play "Where's Waldo", and another 4-5, you play "Let's draw a random card from our deck, and whichever has the most points wins!". There's also a hedgemaze that reminds me of the early 2000s Windows screen savers. The story starts off strong, then goes pretty off-rails. At one point, guards come looking for you, because you burned down private property. But then it's never re-addressed. Or there's a gardener, who's obsessed with a peacock detective... and a rich kid who fakes going to college and instead hides out in a dump in the desert. No plot nonsense. The third half is a big tournament, where you take on unique, challenging opponents. Then you win, and you're facing with a "big decision". I chose the evil ending, and it was the least climatic evil ending I could ever have imagined. Maybe the other endings are better, but I don't have the patience to find out. I never even got to see or use my super evil deck! My biggest recommendation to the devs is... give it time to bake. Work on the story. Focus on the card game.
it's built around a pokemon-style RPG. The writing and humour are good, and the story is quite interesting. The graphics are decent and the in-game playing board etc look good. Unfortunately, the actual card game is very mediocre. It's fine for 1-2 games but quickly becomes dull and formulaic. This is a huge disappointment and for me it really sucked the fun out of the game. i don't want to fight to slowly grind and improve my deck if the game isn't fun.
Meh.. cute pixel art but if i wanted to play Inscryption i would have played Inscryption.
HA, What a fun little game. If you liked pokemon the card game mixed with a little inscyption then this is a great game. Fun humor. Little rascals in the desert were my favorite (skibbidy rizz) Definetly a solid deck builder with tons of little secrets and cute asthetics. Def recommend this.
The cardplay takes a lot of inspiration from Inscryption but strips away a lot of the complexity and most of the fun (for me), it might be better suited to people who are more into the narrative. Also, the first person section gave me a headache.
This is an amazing Inscryption ad. Just so many of the mechanics are too similar and don't make complete sense at times. There were multiple moments early on I just felt like everything was up to chance and not any skill.
Absolutely adored this game. Played spectacularly well on my steam deck proper and with my controller docked as well. The story and art were incredible and I can’t wait to go back and look for the little things I missed and dive into the VS battles. Incredible game couldn’t recommend it more highly.
