Gameplay and features
Pit of Goblin is a co-op survival extraction game. You can tackle it solo, but it’s recommended to play with friends (or random teammates through matchmaking). The aim is to descend into the Pit and search for food and other valuables.
Throughout the different depths of the Pit are monsters and nasties that will try to kill you and your goblin friends or steal the food you have successfully found. Run, hide, but don’t forget to watch your step. Otherwise, you might fall victim to traps that can hurt or even kill you.
Goblins have the ability to sprint, jump, and fill their limited pockets with loot. Big items might need both hands, though! Eating certain items may give you a buff, or you could try using them as a weapon or distraction by throwing them!
Your task is to feed the King Queen and keep them sated. Manage to deliver enough food and they’ll send you right back into the Pit once again, only they get greedier each time, increasing the amount needed to still their hunger. The further down you go into the Pit, the greater the rewards – but is it worth the risk?
Sell your loot in the goblin village and exchange your precious coins for torches, magical lanterns, armor, and other useful items. The goblin merchant has it all! Or swing by the curio shop and procure special communication stones for the right price!
Be daring and explore the Pit – the King Queen is hungry!

A neat little friendslop(complimentary) game, that appeals on an aesthetic sense. Being a little GOBLIN scavenging for food for the King Queen is great, and I'm recommending it with the caveat that I have some problems with it that mean I don't think you should buy it full price. (Which is cruel, I'm aware, for a game that costs less than 10$.) Unfortunately I think the game has pretty severe issues that hamper the experience. For context majority of my time in this game was spent in a lobby of 3 players. Getting right into it, I think the monsters are too lethal, and the natural maps don't have enough hiding spots. I'm not really a fan of this design philosophy in the first place because I don't think "run and hide" gameplay pulled from the 2000s is interesting, but I can deal with it if the game is willing to give me a fair chance to do so. I don't think Goblin Pit does so, hiding spots are very rare on the cavern/cave maps, and even in the Castle/Crypt locations you can feel kind of just screwed. Not really much to say here - I already don't like "run and hide" gameplay, and Goblin Pit doesn't always let you even hide. The other major issue is the fact that if you get a little bit lucky, it's pretty easy to get 200+ gold and buy out the shop's upgrades for your "vessel" that you use to extract from each level. (it's a big bucket). All the upgrades aren't even that expensive, it'll probably run you like...70 gold total for all the Big Bucket Upgrades and then you can buy a bunch of equipment. Which is a problem, because this was routinely happening on my group's first quota. We'd grab a bunch of stuff on the first dive, sell it all immediately and buy all the upgrades and grab a bunch of equipment - and then have nothing else to buy. We'd go to the "secret" shop map and pick up a bunch of stuff - and then have actually nothing to buy. This was all happening on the first dive by the way. Not even just the first quota - we'd go down and grab a bunch of fat loot on the first level. I feel like there should be more upgrades for the bucket, and better equipment available for purchase. It's very easy to get gold with a bit of luck, which I like, but you quickly run out of things to spend it on. More counterweights to extend the time you have in a level would be great, portable resurrection tools would be nice... Overall Pit of Goblin has a lot of potential and me and my friends enjoy both its concept and its gameplay, but I personally at least find that it doesn't do enough to separate itself from its progenitor game, and even if I didn't find the "Lethal Company game design philosophy" personally irritating, I'd still think the game has issues. I give it a recommended right now because ultimately, it's super cheap, but I hope the developers can rethink their approach to the gameplay and give more power to the players.
