short, fun and worth the time investment - which is all that matters since it's free! main gripe is it could use some editing; there's a lot of stylistic issues throughout. parts plod a bit or are a little hard to follow, but it's cute and funny enough for the type of people who are going to care about it in the first place to enjoy themselves. mariari ship fans will appreciate the rep, of course.

i actually cried during satori's route

Without any knowledge of the Touhou Project , its lore, or its anime characters, playing this free game was as baffling to me as starting to read a long novel with the final chapter. But, however confusing Pirates of Gensokyo was, nonetheless I really enjoyed the artwork, the music, and the dialogue (which was often funny and sometimes surprisingly deep). An enjoyable 2+ hours play (an additional hour was spent trying to get the final achievement "Get All Achievements" to trigger; it finally did - I'll leave a note about the issue and what I had to do in the game's Discussions).
