About

Pine is an interactive and emotional short story told wordlessly through hand-drawn animation and music, designed to be played in a single sitting.
It follows the story of a woodworker grieving the recent passing of his wife. Now alone in the glade where they made their home, he attempts to move on.
His simple daily chores of tending to his garden or collecting wood for the next winter are interrupted by memories of the happy times they spent together. Desperate not to forget her, the woodworker captures these memories in beautiful carvings out of the wood he collects.
Pine is a story-driven game focused on accessible, engaging interactions that pull you into the woodworker’s experience. Charming puzzles and mini-games celebrate the happy memories of their time together while deliberate chores underscore his challenges with moving on.

As you help the woodworker complete his daily routine, the simple chores you’ll guide him through are interrupted by reminders of his late wife. In these endearing memories you’ll relive their happiest moments together, playing games and building a life with each other.

The woodworker’s carvings are beloved mementos he captures from his memories. Pine’s unique carving mechanic lets you create the carvings with the woodworker’s hands, each a promise that his lost love will be remembered.

Classic hand-drawn animation, a beautiful setting, an evocative score and immersive environmental sound effects bring Pine’s story to life.

Made Up Games is Tom Booth and Najati Imam. Lifelong gamers and longtime friends, Pine is their first narrative game.
Tom has been a professional illustrator for over a decade, previously working for Nickelodeon and Scholastic, and a published children’s book illustrator and author. His Instagram audience and their love for the woodworker are a large part of the inspiration for bringing Pine to life.
Najati’s been programming since he was a kid. In his previous professional life he’s done embedded systems programming, full stack application development, and managed engineering departments. He’s also been a hobbyist game dev for as long as he’s been able to type.

I do recommend this game, but I see it less as a game and more as an art piece that's a meditation on a feeling. Granted, grief is something I've known my whole life, so connecting to that feeling was probably easy for me. I gave up on the gameplay almost immediatly, really, it's just purely for the ride. Also, it does have some Train Dreams vibes and it probably made it easier for me to get into the whole atmosphere. Overall, I recommend it, it's a nice and sad journey.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Great job to the developers that made this
It’s a story about loss. The game is slow and repetitive to sort of emulate the emotions of the person going through it. I actually enjoy this part and think its brilliant. The reason I don’t recommend it because I didn’t really like the ending and the story in general. I think they could do more. The reason I play games is because you can do crazy stuff. If they add some sort of a twist I might have enjoyed it more. I also did not experience a huge loss to that extent so one can say I didn’t get it.
I lost my father this year to cancer. I'll miss you, Dad. No words need to be said. We all have to keep moving forward.
Wow, what a game. An extremely emotional game told beautifully through both a wonderful art style and choice of tasks. This isn’t a game that asks much of you mechanically, beyond stepping into the husband’s routine and completing the tasks he performs day to day. At first, those chores feel repetitive - to be honest, I found them a bit irritating in the beginning - but after a few minutes the intention behind them became visible. The subtle shifts in how each task evolves over time, the way you’re made to repeat them early on, all reinforce the weight of those early days of grief and the sheer effort it takes just to keep going. Even the sound design plays into that feeling using silence and gentle musical crescendos to effect. The only part that didn’t quite work for me was one of the final puzzles involving rearranging the trees. It felt slightly out of step with the rest of the game’s design, though I can see why it was included given what it leads into. Definitely one to sit and play the full game at once, so you pick up the small details which you might otherwise miss if breaking down into several.
