Game is fire. True disgea fans know this is THE game after the first disgea. Game is grindy. I remember getting to lvl 7000 on the psp but I honestly got no idea how I did that after replaying it. Still game is very strategy based. Here are some hints for beginners. Use the starfish weapon. The green ghost npc clearly states speed is king. The starfish provides an aoe as its basic attack. All its attacks are based on speed, and it has long range skills that hit hard. Make a map with fish and steal a lvl 20 starfish or a couple. This might require a few resets. After this lvl up the starfish and when you reach its level(20) you hunt for a lvl 40 starfish. Rinse and repeat. After you get to lvl 80 or 100 using the strategy the game starts to open up. Always aim to steal weapons 40 levels higher and dont get attached to low lvl weapons. You can use any npc you like even monsters since they can hold weapons. Affinity to elements is extremely important. Always abuse elements it can make the difference between double damage or 0. Starfish is great because it trains you the red thunder sigil. Which can be used with special or physical attacks. The starfish makes your HP hit 1 point so becareful with this. It essentially makes you into a glass cannon. Ash should never hold the starfish but a sword. Another hint is that the beginner box skills are OP. AOE straight line with low cost and fire element. Fuse it with the starfish as the secondary weapon and make the starfish learn its skills. All attacks are based on a stat. Dont ignore those. The best stat is speed and second is HP. The game is deep and you start seeing new things as you go deeper and you also unlock certain characters that cant be unlocked at novice levels. The story is great and its voice acting is superb. Titles are also very important. Attaching and growing titles will make your weapons OP and this is how you train new characters, Give your OP weapons to lvl 1 characters to train them. In battle prioritize enemies that like to steal. If they steal your OP weapon then gg. Ill update at a later time with a more thorough review. Honestly if youre able to make it to lvl 100 you can make it to lvl 9999. Games mechanics are pretty straight forward. Edit: I realized I was playing the game the wrong way this whole time. Failure fusion is the way to go. I did manage to beat the final boss without it but damn that was tough. It was a good experience. I wouldnt recommend it since it took me 100 hours for that. Now to the extra stages edit 2: defeated baal. Game is grindy as hell and apparently failure fusion goes beyond what ive done. I thought i maxxed out a weapon with 2m stats all over but even that isnt enough to defeat pringer X in a single turn. Seems like the bread and blob strategy is endgame but thats so boring. For now i consider defeating baal as beating the endgame but ill def be back to finish it. Game has provided so much for what ive paid for. I reached 4.8k level and honestly im kinda burned out. Definitely recommend life well wasted.
Many years of playing it, now playing it here on Steam, Game's fun, many characters to create and build. Long hours of fun!!
I mugged an NPC ally for their sword and then killed them for xp before taking down the boss. 10/10 game.
Ash is NOT sexy
Phantom Brave PC: 9/10 for an excellent story about redemption and self-actualization of a young girl who navigates a cruel world with kindness and her ever faithful companion, "For her sake, I will not fail!" Phantom Brave PC teaches something that most people fail to learn during their lifetime. 'Do good always, even when it isn't the popular choice' Brief criticisms: 1. I couldn't understand the scaling of the game especially in dungeons; seems completely random? 2. Is there a way to 'level up' the different stats, ie, healing, magic, etc. I would see an indication that the bar is filling and yet I don't know what was affecting it.
