About
The free prologue of "Pax Autocratica" invites you to establish the foundations of the greatest regime in history in this darkly satirical totalitarian colony sim + FPS roguelite hybrid. You are tasked with managing and leading your citizens to spread your doctrine through the first sector "Elysia" and free it from the oppression of the current ruling power.
If you enjoy the Prologue, wishlist the full game to be notified on release.
Dictate wisely as your choices will shape society, for better or worse.
The Prologue contains a limited portion of the full game. The scale of the base and the battles is smaller than in Early Access. Certain advanced systems, such as deeper automation, mechs, and other late‑game mechanics, are not available here. Content and balance may change before Early Access release.
Mold your citizens through fear, propaganda, surveillance, punishment or rule as a benevolent leader through comfort and prosperity.
While they work for the State, they may grow grateful, afraid, loyal, or quietly rebellious, until dissent becomes revolt.
Venture into the fractured territories of the Tyris System to gather resources, conscript new citizens, trade with wandering merchants, and feed the growth of your colony.
Fight beside your troops in roguelite FPS battles, from hostile ships to large-scale mechanized battlefields of infantry, tanks, and mechs, spreading your doctrine and eliminating threats to humanity.
Weakened foes can be captured and dragged back to your base.
Behind prison doors, resistance can be crushed through fear, indoctrination, execution, or conversion, until an enemy becomes a citizen, a warning to would-be rebels, or another tool of the regime.
Elite enemies, bosses, and Sector Overlords flood the battlefield with bullets, lasers, missiles, drones, artillery, and overlapping projectile patterns.
This is war at scale, but you are not alone. Order your troops to secure victory, or use them as expendable shields to achieve your ends.
Turn a handful of survivors into a vast, tightly run, self-sustaining colony.
Assign citizens to mine, gather, haul, research, and manufacture weapons, armor, food, and supplies. Watch fragile shelters become the machinery of the State.
Collect roguelite cores during each expedition to grow stronger, survive longer, and push deeper into enemy territory.
Weapon Cores reshape how your guns handle. Combination Cores create synergies between different core sets. Others strengthen the troops fighting beside you, or turn them into sacrificial shields for your survival.
Each run becomes a shifting war machine built around you, your squad, and the chaos you unleash together.

Pax Autocratica: Prologue, developed and published by Multiverse, is a fascinating experiment that blends genres rarely seen together. At its core, it is a colony management game set in a grim science-fiction future, but it layers that foundation with roguelite progression and first-person shooter mechanics. Players assume the role of an all-powerful leader tasked with establishing order across a hostile world, making decisions that determine whether their society thrives through benevolence or survives through fear. The game's premise immediately stands out because it does not shy away from exploring themes of authoritarianism, social engineering, and the price of maintaining absolute control. The management systems provide the backbone of the experience. Players oversee a growing settlement where citizens gather resources, construct facilities, conduct research, and contribute to the expansion of the State. Unlike many strategy games where inhabitants feel interchangeable, Pax Autocratica attempts to give its population a sense of individuality. Policies enacted by the player can inspire devotion or resentment, and maintaining stability becomes an ongoing challenge. Decisions involving propaganda, surveillance, punishment, and ideological influence are central to progression, giving the game a distinctly dystopian flavor that sets it apart from more traditional city builders. One of the title's most ambitious features is its shift from overhead management to direct participation in combat. Rather than simply dispatching units to battle and watching the results, players enter the field themselves in first-person engagements. These missions are fast-paced and heavily inspired by roguelite design, with enemy waves featuring soldiers, machines, and powerful bosses. Combat encounters are filled with projectiles, explosive attacks, and environmental hazards that require constant movement and quick decision-making. The transition between managing a colony and leading troops in battle creates a unique gameplay loop that feels fresh, even if it occasionally struggles to balance both sides of its identity. Progression is another area where the prologue shows considerable promise. Players can unlock upgrades that alter weapons, improve combat capabilities, and create synergistic combinations between abilities. Every expedition offers opportunities to experiment with different builds, ensuring that repeated runs feel distinct. Supporting units can also be enhanced, turning them into valuable companions during combat or expendable assets depending on the player's preferred approach. Although the available content is intentionally limited, the systems on display suggest a much larger and more complex experience planned for the full release. The game's darker mechanics contribute significantly to its atmosphere. Defeated enemies can be captured and returned to the colony, where players decide their fate. They may be imprisoned, indoctrinated into the regime, or permanently removed as threats. These choices reinforce the overarching themes of power and control while encouraging players to think beyond simple battlefield victories. Pax Autocratica consistently challenges players to consider the ethical consequences of their actions, even if its presentation occasionally leans into dark humor and satire. As expected from a prologue, there are limitations that prevent the experience from reaching its full potential. Content is restricted to a small portion of the planned campaign, and some mechanics feel unfinished or in need of additional refinement. Balance issues occasionally emerge during combat, and certain systems could benefit from clearer explanations. Nevertheless, the game succeeds in demonstrating the developers' vision. It serves less as a complete product and more as a compelling invitation to what Multiverse hopes to achieve with the eventual full release. Visually, the game captures its oppressive science-fiction setting effectively. Industrial landscapes, militarized architecture, and chaotic battle sequences help establish a memorable atmosphere. The audio design complements the experience with fitting effects and music that maintain tension throughout both colony management and combat scenarios. While it does not possess the production values of larger studios, its artistic direction compensates by delivering a cohesive and distinctive identity. Pax Autocratica: Prologue is an ambitious hybrid that refuses to remain within the boundaries of a single genre. Its combination of strategy, action, and roguelite elements makes it one of the more intriguing indie projects currently available on Steam. Though rough around the edges and limited by its status as a prologue, it offers enough depth and originality to leave a lasting impression. Players willing to embrace its unusual mechanics and morally complex themes will find an experience that feels both experimental and promising. Rating: 7/10

Excellent demo I actually liked it so much I played it multiple times. You can build a base to recruit more men and to level up things and then go into combat mode which feels like unreal tournament combat but in small skirrmishes to bigger clashes to a war like Bannerlord.
