A cannibalizing today
Well. This game was something. I have become quite attached to this series. There's a lot I want to mention, a few things I've come to hate and adore. I can tell you already that I cannot wait for the JAST translation of Paradise Kiwame on Steam. I promise to wait patiently. So. What do I like? Dialogue. Dialogue in this game is the funniest shi I've come across in VN. I have ended up sending multiple screenshots to my irls. The person who was responsible for these should get a raise. Comedy made the atmosphere quite realistic. In some way, I could insert myself into the story. Because of that, I tend to speak to my friends in a familiar manner. Music? Hmm. Funky. It isn't that remarkable, but that's okay. Art style? It is basic, I cannot lie. I'm not the one to judge by the cover, so.. You can imagine that I still ended up pretty pleased when I had Paradise patched ;> Story? Hngh.... it is predictable in some way.. I cannot lie. I have known since the beginning who I shouldn't trust. That was what I would say if I WOULDN'T FIND OUT THAT WHOLE ISLAND IS MAD ASF!!! All of these mfs are crazy!!!!!!!!!! I cannot imagine a woman being around them out there. ..Yeah. That's an additional point to the story. I still stick with that OG Paradise, which is corny. As dialogue can be realistic, some behaviors aren't. I do not expect fireworks. C'mon. I hope that Kiwame will rewrite some basics. I need more rationality. Now. To the characters. • Azuma: I like him. He's a pretty complex character and I can understand him. He's a character with a traumatic past that sneaks its way into how he behaves as an adult. He could've been a completely different person without his trauma. I'm not sure if anyone has noticed, but he's infantilized by the cast. He's kinda outcast. Tries to still fit in. I'm sure it wasn't exactly intended by the writers, but Azuma's perspective reminded me of the way I am treated by people when they realized I'm neurodegivent. They tend to talk about each other as one group. Azuma is Azuma. It is pretty Dehumanizing in some way. I see it as a strong trigger for his past. He's an abuse victim after all. On each route there's a part of him that gets unwillingly dragged out. Part of him that he hid and wished to never expose himself again. It's interesting. • Mitsugi: His behavior is abstract for me. He's a hot bully that also tries to win nonchalant contests. You do not know what his problem is until you pick on Paradise Musubi. That sucks. I understand that he's a complex character, but you should build his character in the main game and not after the story. I hope Paradise Kiwame have fixed that flaw. Because as unfinished he seems to be, it is funny how, at the end, he's the most normal one. Finally, in the end, I do like him, but I'm not sure if he's my favorite. • Matsuda: Wolf in sheep's clothing. He ended up making me feel like Madarame from Slow Damage. There's a love and hate. His voice and sentences are seducing me. You DO NOT want to know how many voice lines of him I have ended up saving. Trust me. He's a good representation of an abusive character in a relationship. You think that you are cared for, protected and appreciated. Only for it to end up being a love bombing. I've picked that up but. Quickly forgot about that until.. THAT part.. Great writing. This VN manipulated me and made me let my guard down. Wow. There's a lot that happens later but.. once again. Why do we let after the story explain parts that should be done in the main story..? Anyway, when it comes to writing, his route is my favorite. • Takara: Hm.. I deeply hope his route is much more different in Kiwame. There's a lot to unpack. I like him but. Not how his route turned out. I do not understand why he has one ending less. Takara's route felt too rushed. He's a small nasty freak. Our lil psychopath. I enjoy his bad ending the most. It's raw and reopens not so closed wounds just to dig into them deeper to mark over its core. Very disturbing. The fact that, at the end of it, Takata wasn't that invincible was grounding. He's simply too OP in the story. Yes. He is a mastermind but c'mon. I want more conflict in his mind complex. At the end, can I recommend this game? Yes!!I had fun playing it. There are a lot of plot and character holes that deserve to be fixed. I stick with that. However, they do not ruin the game. It's just that you need to be aware of content warning in games from underneath the JAST wing and.. I recommend buying that extra director's cut patch from their site. Thank you 4 reading!♡ Bye!♡
