Paradise Killer

I am still hunting for a game that replicates the feeling I got from completing this story/solving the mystery. 10/10

This is a nonlinear visual novel with elements of open-world exploration. In all of those aspects the game is near perfect: - The characters are unique and interesting, both visually and story-wise - The overall mystery is engaging - the game gives you just enough info to make you interested and wonder without spoiling too much - The world is not that massive but every location feels entirely unique - The OST is a banger - The visuals are immaculate It's one of the best "story games" that I've ever played, if not THE best.

Paradise Killer is an amazing game that just got buried in my library. The game's story is so rich and mystifying, the weird lexicle choices, the lack of handholding in dialogue, and the fact that there is ambiguity just makes you feel totally immersed. I think the choices are well balanced, and you really do have to question whether you stop collecting, continue to pursue, pursue who, believe who, and all those things that make a compelling mystery actually compelling. The culture and aesthetic oozes in the game. However, the jank feels entrenched and not necessarily in all good ways. The map is useless, the map is just big enough to get lost in, and the map is too small to be useful. I don't care if the fast travel exists, it doesn't explain why there is nothing useful to be gleaned from the map. The game itself also has some strange movement mechanics and the 2D sprites are always so goofy. Nothing like finding someone on the floor, indicated by their flat stanley corpse before you. Overall satisfying play and characters vary just enough for my taste. 75/100.

Game keeps crashing on Steam Deck with an Unreal Engine exception error popping up. I want to recommend game. I was enjoying it fine, but I cannot unless they fix the game and make it bare minimum playable.

Originally played for free on Xbox, NEEDED to experience again without gamepass.

Do you love adventure games, murder mysteries, demons, blood, and bisexual plus sized women with genuine Noir Detective type personality problems. Welcome to Paradise. 11 hours was enough to fall in love for me. this is my 9.9 game I never stop talking about. This could be YOUR 7 out of 10 playstation 1 game nobody's ever heard of but I want everyone to hear about it. My favorite LP of one of my favorite games begins with the words "Do you ever feel like a game was made just for you?" This game made me feel that way. Except it's even better then that, because it wasn't made just for me. It was made for and by kaizen game works, and I'm just lucky enough to be along for the ride while they're making things.

J'aurais aimé aimer. C'est chose faite concernant l'Ost et l'esthétique générale de la chose. Mais vraiment le reste est foutrement déconcertant et Dieu sait que j'aime me prendre la tête sur des jeux d'énigmes et d'enquête. Je me suis trainé le fiac pendant trois longues heures sans que la sauce ne prenne. Je sais pas c'était peut être pas le bon moment. j'arrive peut être plus à jouir. Il est bizarre le jeu.

Paradise Killer is a pretty alright game. The lore is easy to understand, there is not much to say about it. Same with the cases and evidence. The whole game feels like a simplified Ace Attorney or Danganronpa, even the trials don't really require much work. The aesthetic are bearable to say the least. They feel cheap and it does seem like the devs just used some crappy textures and wanted the whole game to look like a vaporwave retro-like abomination. The music is absolutely bangers, I'll be honest. Though, it really depends on your taste. The gameplay is extremely simple, feels almost like a walking simulator and there are a lot of collectibles that require a bit of parkour but honestly who has the time for those. The characters are pretty likeable but your dialogue choices really don't matter, no matter what you do you will "increase" your relationship with everyone if you want to hang out. I recommend doing it if you want to unlock additional evidence. Try it out if you found Ace Attorney too complicated and want a more simplified game that lets you chill out and explore.

Beautiful music that I listen to still, great art and atmosphere with interesting lore that slowly unfolds. Good mystery to uncover. Maybe just look up where to grab all the foot baths at the start and make sure to talk to all the NPCs whenever you can.
