The tag for this game absolutely should have contained RPG Maker. Seemed decent on the surface with story and game play. Not really my cup of tea, seems extremely short and balance is jacked up. I beat the game, and here is a quick summary: - decent music, don't know if it is from rpg maker or they made it -decent design (art) , don't know if it is from rpg maker or they made it Very short game, beat in about 4 hours -half of that was probably grinding to try to overcome the balance -level 15 cap -items are very limited, only 2 rings to choose from, 2 accessories, 4 or 5 pieces of armor and weapons. VERY SHORT game, not worth the money. Felt like a long demo at most. Did not know this was rpg maker crap. Feeling a bit ripped off. Will have to look closer at these games in the future. Save your money. ---------I will retry this when the new content releases in August. And update review accordingly------------- :)
If you are not afraid of RPG maker, then this is a pretty good game. Quite an interesting plot, a beautifully made world, wonderful music. It would be nice to add more items, but overall a cute little game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iose7JcshDA Subscribe to my Youtube Follow my Curator Page for more RPG Games! Paladin Dream is a nice, simple game with interesting mechanics. I don't play too many RPGs that only feature one character, but this game did it well. The atmosphere is the best thing about it, including the custom music and glowing effects. Leaving the Abbey at the start and hearing the field song for the first time was really memorable. Each area felt unique and interesting. The witch's forest was my favourite, since it felt very mysterious and foreboding. I was curious to see what would happen next. There were also quite a few secrets to find throughout the game, including an optional boss, which is rewarding if you're into such things. The game features some custom animations, like spell glyphs and the dream shimmer effect, which are really nice. Josiah's artwork is original and really cool, portraying him as a dutiful fighter set out to stop evil. For my critiques, the disabling status effects can be really annoying, and almost every enemy towards the end knows at least one of them. Since Josiah is the only character you play, you'll have to waste multiple turns doing nothing in order to recover from them. Paladin Dreamt is a simple game, but that's all it needs to be. It's a gaming equivalent of comfort food, and I loved it.
Paladin Dream is a turn based RPG in the style of all the old favorite classics. You play as a Paladin going on a journey to find out the meaning of a dream he has been having repeatedly over the years. He leaves the abbey where he has spent his entire life and heads out to find the reason for his dream. The game was made with RPG Maker, which I know, can leave you questioning how good it really is. But Paladin Dream is a pleasant surprise. With about five hours of gameplay and original music composed by the creator, Paladin Dream stands out where many RPG Maker games may leave you wonderful what the heck you just spent money on. With an original soundtrack composed by creator Matthew Myers, the music alone is enough to make one want to continue the game. So is Paladin Dream worth playing? If you enjoy a classic turn based RPG feel with a nice story? Sure is! I would suggest you pick it up sooner rather than later.
Hmmm - nice enough little game, but very short, and the moving graphics in battles are enough to make you feel sick! I wouldn't replay it, that's for sure,
Received a copy for review: This does not impact my feelings on the game.| This is a wonderful straight forward RPG with music that is just... gorgeous. Fully voice acted original hymns and songs is a touch that just blows my mind! if you like the OLD school turn based RPGs, Paladin dreams is beautiful. Straight forward turn based RPG with basic mechanics and shockingly refreshing. Like a glass of clean water after trying different sodas all day. Paladin Dreams works by doing the basics right first and foremost, and for a incredibly fair price you can get a solid RPG to spend hours on.
good game.
Short, simple and fun.
This is a very cozy simple jRPG in the style of Dragon Quest 1 from RPG maker. A paladin has a dream and goes on a quest to find its meaning. Exploration is linear, progress is slightly gated with levels. You are here for a quest, not an epic. The grind is minimal, the battles are fast, and the menus even faster, which are all essential with such a simple battle system. If you don't want to get that extra levels you can tweak your gear to fights you encounter or use buffing items. Custom character portraits, music, and monsters make it a very charming indy project. For those concerned with religion, there is little to none similar to Red Wall. It is story is Classic in style with enough moments to make it unique. It is very refreshing in the glut of "religion is evil" or "we have to kill god". 🎵אדריאל🎵
I was impressed with what this game offered! It tells a good story in a span of 3-4 hours depending on your playing ability. The combat is fun. The lighting effects are particularly good. The soundtrack is really nice and one of the harder to find areas has a great track. All and all a good game.
