This game does a lot of things right. The story, from what I experienced, is great and well-written. All characters I encountered and interacted with were charming and well done. Visually, I got similar vibes to games like Mother/Earthbound and the like. The battle system was engaging and felt like a fun spin on elements from Undertale. From what I've read about the game's inspirations, it certainly wears them on its sleeve, and for the most part this is only a good thing. However, the game managed to push me out of enjoyment pretty fast with its combination of enemies (many of whom speed dash at you) respawning anytime you re-enter an area and often drawn-out battles that (given the battle system) ask a lot from you, not helped by the success rate of fleeing being seemingly slim to zero more often than not. This became enough to fully push me away in one of the puzzle areas, where what would regularly be a process of thinking through / solving said puzzle (trial and error, etc) became one infuriating respawned enemy encounter after the next. It kinda of just made me want to not continue trying to solve the puzzle and, knowing that I'd have to restart the game from the save point outside of the area, I quit the game with no interest in returning. Perhaps I'll revisit this game again one day if the above is somehow changed in a patch or something, but otherwise, yeah...I'd still recommend it to folks who feel all of that isn't / may not be an issue for them, but for me, it made me not want to stick around to the end, as great as I'm sure that ending probably is.
Dreamed away
It's cute, it's mysterious and kinda story driven, and if you are into lucid dreaming you will find some nice references. The battles are reaction games, but if you find this annoying, turn difficulty down. Great game with awesome writing. No bugs so far. I'm streaming this for a friend, otherwise I would've finished already.^^
I've always wanted to play another game similar to Omori and this didn't disappoint. It's addicting and the rpg is just challenging enough for me as I don't like difficult combat. very cozy and has all the spooky vibes, highly recommend
This is a life changing game. I have played many games in my days but this one has a special place in my heart. The story, gameplay, and characters are all amazing. Each aspect of the game is beautifully crafted. If you like indie RPGs you’ll love this. If you’ve never played a RPG you’ll love it. Even you’re grandma would love it!
The best way I can describe this game is one that WANTS to have multiple endings, but doesn't want to put the effort in to make the replays feel fresh or unique. The good ending and bad ending have you doing the same 80% of game until you reach the ending, and it doesn't help that the chapters leading up to the split feel the most repetitive. I don't hate this game, but it feels like it should have just told one ending rather than trying to encourage multiple.
I finished this game a few days ago, and I am still thinking about it! Especially the ending (at least the one I've got). What a beautiful and emotional story that was. I laughed, I cried, I reflected. Gameplay is a nice mix of RPG battles (think Undertale) and puzzles. The puzzles are pretty varied, yet not too obtuse. I am notoriously terrible at puzzles but I managed these. The story unfolds like a mystery, which I loved. Also, even though the game is more creepy than "scary," I jumped A LOT. Beautiful music and pixel art. Game ran very smoothly on my PC. No bugs noticed either. I streamed this game on Twitch, and the people who worked on the game could not have been nicer. Nice plus!
Tolle Geschichte, knackiger Schwierigkeitsgrad, liebevolles Pixelart. Macht auf jeden Fall sehr viel Spaß!
As someone who ADORES the MOTHER series, I cannot stress enough how spectacular this game is. Make no mistake, this IS a horror game, but where most series revolve around shock and gruesome deaths to convey terror, this game truly makes you afraid because of how much you care for Theo and his sister. These two are legit some of the best child protags I've seen in years. He is brave, but also scared out of his mind like any sane kid would be, and his relationship with his sister is of a calibur I have not seen since MOTHER 3 with Lucas and Claus. Each NPC helps serve a purpose, the stories and fates of other characters will stay with you long after your first playthrough, and each sidequest feels like a natrual extension of the world, you will want to do them simply because you can, something even the best RPGs easily stumble with at times. I will say this now, you will care for these characters so much it will hurt, you will be scared because you know that Theo's life is in your hands. This is a game that understands that the greatest horror stories are also tragedies. The world balances whimsy and dread with such a fine balance that the two never conflict with each other, but become inseparable, a melancholy that haunts you throughout the story even as you find yourself charmed by the world and it's mysterious inhabitants. The main theme alone is one of the most beautiful compositions I've ever heard in a game, filled with a hope and dread that will come to define your journey with Theo. The battles are simple at first glance yes, but they always keep finding inventive ways to make it interesting, each foe is given such personality with how you fight them, and can prove to be legit challenges your first time around facing them. The equipment and abilities in this game offer tons of different play styles and encourages experimentation. This game had done irreparable damage to me 10/10.
Amazing game! Well worth the price! This was my Halloween game for this year and it’s been a fantastic choice very soooky, great mystery and I just wanna keep playing to figure out what’s happening! I don’t love the battle system personally but I love that it has levels so I can make it easier to get through the combat. Overall I love this game and for the first time I’m planning to replay a game so I can make different choices and see the other outcome. You can tell this game is made with love and it’s a joy to get to enjoy it.
