PAIN

I'll be updating my review once I reach the top, but so far it has been a positive experience. This is a punishing game inspired by titles like Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy and Jump King, so I will say here and now, THIS GAME IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. IT IS EXTRAORDINARILY PUNISHING. Unlike many other 'Foddian' games I've played, the controls are incredibly simple and intuitive. You simply click and drag with the mouse to fling yourself in a specific direction, where you will freefall until hitting a platform you can stick to. There are some nuances to the physics that you will probably end up stumbling upon accidentally in your first few hours. If you take the time to really learn how to utilize this, you can perform all sorts of advanced movement to speed through earlier segments. There are many (difficult!) ways to skip and fly through segments of the game in a way that will be incredibly conducive to a speedrunning community.

first of all, lets just get it clear- this game is hard. the end segment took me a majority of my playtime, but god did it feel good to beat it. this game is fair, difficult, and intuitive. everything feels exactly how it should, and it makes for a fantastic player experience. this was my first game in this genre, and it was a great introduction. that adrenaline feeling of getting over a cliff that beat you down ten times before, or figuring something out that'll help you beat a section, it all feels amazing. this game makes sure that every time it beats you down it rewards you back tenfold. this game is great. the price point is genuinely unbeatable. the visuals are great, the sound design rocks, and it all comes together to provide a genuinely painful experience, that pays off in the end. i can entirely recommend this game- and god i wish you good luck. you will need it, i promise.
