About
《Pact between us》is a life-simulation game featuring real actors.
Synopsis:
The story is heartwarming, focusing on a pair of siblings who suddenly lose their parents and grow up relying only on each other. After their parents' death, the older brother discovers he was adopted and has no blood relation to his younger sister. Despite this revelation, he chooses to raise her nonetheless.
Addressing Controversy:
It's unexpected that such a simple game would be labeled with the "LTP" tag and escalate into widespread online harassment. It's unclear who actually played the game before drawing these conclusions. Our entire content promotes positive values, has undergone the platform's strict review process, and contains absolutely no elements that guide or imply negative values for minors.
A child actor portrays the sister during her childhood stage, participating in various lessons and social practice activities.
As time progresses within the game and the sister grows up, she is portrayed by an adult actor.
Regarding the deliberate distortions and selective interpretations of what I referred to as an "emotional ending": This refers to the point in the game, after the sister turns 18, where the brother chooses whether to reveal the truth of his origins. The "ending" then deals with how the sister processes and views her relationship with this brother, with whom she has shared a life of mutual dependence since childhood, despite the lack of blood ties.
Legal Warning to Harassers:
Furthermore, this is a warning to certain cyberbullies: Your actions in obtaining personal phone information through illicit channels to conduct harassment have been reported to the police and a case has been officially filed 30 minutes ago. Consider the consequences.
Final Statement:
Only those who have actually seen the content labeled as "LTP" have the standing to comment on / report / criticize it. Conversely, any statements made without seeing it are considered slanderous accusations.
Game Feature Descriptions:
[Study]
The protagonist (player as the brother) can arrange for the sister to take various lessons.
Lessons primarily increase different attributes.
Studying consumes in-game currency.
[Social Practice]
The protagonist can arrange for the sister to participate in various social practice activities.
This will increase certain attributes and earn in-game currency.
However, it generates significantly more fatigue.
[Rest]
The protagonist can arrange for the sister to rest at home or go on outings/trips.
This reduces the sister's fatigue level and may even increase Affection Points.
Affection Points are a prerequisite for unlocking the best emotional ending.
[Wardrobe]
The protagonist can choose different outfits for the sister to wear.
Changing clothes affects the sister's mood/state while at home, varying depending on the outfit worn.
Note: A tl;dr is included at the bottom of the review. I'd also recommend reading this review on its own page instead on the store page as it messes with the formatting that have been used in this review. You can access it by clicking on the "Not Recommended" or by going to this link. Pact Between Us is a perfect example of a heartwarmingly fun, cozy story with a seemingly unique gameplay concept that is unfortunately heavily crippled and held back by its repetitive gameplay alongside possessing bugs & issues up the wazoo. If the game is more polished then I'd say that the game is "palatable" in the way that the gameplay section would still be feeling repetitive, but at least it wouldn't be as jarring as it is now. The scenes, while nothing too amazing, can come off as being rather wholesome good in the way that they do cater to a niche of people who enjoy reading childcare stories, in which I'd say that the scenes are good, but not good enough to make it worth sitting through everything else. Just in case some people think that I’m overexaggerating, then below is a non-exhaustive list of bugs & issues that I’ve experienced:

Audio seemingly disappear and appear whenever they feel like it. It can be rather immersion-breaking, but worst of all it can come out during important scenes, so at times you’d have happy music & sad music playing at the same time during crucial heartbreaking moments in the game.
Characters spazzing out as if they have been possessed by Anabelle.
Inability to pause fmv during cutscenes which not only does not allow you to easily take screenshots but also means that you must commit to watching the cutscene since, again, you can’t pause them.
Memory (also known as replay) on the main menu allows you to rewatch scenes in the game, but not only does it not feature subtitles, but the main menu music is still there creating for a rather jarring watching experience.
Some repeat scenes (primarily vacations) aren’t skippable, resulting in a huge time waster on the player’s behalf due to having to constantly watch the same scenes over and over again.
Some scenes are improperly cut making transitions in-between shots to feel rather unnatural which breaks immersion.
Terrible English subtitles possibly due to the work of a very shoddy machine-translation work. I & You being used interchangeably and worst of all the little sister’s name (Weilai) is being translated to “Future”.
Texts on papers aren’t translated, meaning that without first reading through the game description or synopsis, then you would be bit confused as to the main drama of the story being that
the brother is adopted
, this information is crucial to the story, yet is hard to grasp until the very end of the story.
There are 3 kinds of audio in the game, voice, sound, and music. You can change increase and reduce the volumes, but by default not only is the music overly-loud making the vocals pretty much inaudible in most scenes, but sound seems to also be directly connected to voice in a way that if you have it lowered all the way down then some scenes that should have voice-over would be ended up being dead silence.
Before going through with the conclusion, I’d like to briefly touch upon the endings first. Some of them feel like they ended rather abruptly, but this is mainly due to the work of the wacky machine translation. I say that the scenes and build-up of it all, while not really that rewarding, does give you bit of a punch to the heart(?) I believe that the rapid fast transition to the credit screen which changes the tune from sad song -> happy music really kills any sort of feeling that you might have prior to the experience, and without it + better translation then they their impact would have been felt a lot more. While I don’t fully agree with the whole message of "do whatever you want", I can still somewhat understand the goal of what they’re trying to say where instead of wasting time worrying about the future, you should learn to appreciate the present instead to which I can see it being relatable to a good amount of people out there. Ultimately, if there's a purely fmv-only version then I'd recommend it to those who are tired of mostly romance and/or action fmv and thus may be seeking more of a heartwarming story with (surprisingly) lack of romance, but since the gameplay & bugs are huge part of the experience (that can even ruin moments in the game mind you), then I don't think that I can whole-heartedly recommend it, at least not until a proper re-structure and/or polishing have been done to the game (which doesn't seem all that likely). Above all else, I’m now proud that my child that I’ve raised for 9+ years has now become a dancer and I couldn’t have it any other way. tl;dr: A heartwarmingly wholesome fun fmv that's heavily butchered by its drought out gameplay and lack of polish resulting with an experience that feels like it is overstaying its welcome. 6.5/10 (this review was typed with Colemak)
Story/Plot: Pact Between Us is a game in the vein of a child-raising/stat management game with FMV elements. If you played any of the Princes Maker or Long Live the Queen then you know the mechanics. The game starts with an older brother who decides to raise his sister after their parents died. The FMV comes in when certain milestones are reached like birthdays, as well as normal activities like jobs, etc. Fortunately you can skip them once they have played so if you do decide to replay it isn't quite as tedious. One problem with this game is while it technically has English subtitles, the translation really isn't good. I was able to make out enough of what was going on, but if the dev does well with this, I would recommend revamp the subtitles. Visuals: Basically there are two main visuals in this. One is a series of charts which show values which may go up or down like health, money or skills. The other is footage as mentioned above, as well as multiple endings. Most of the FMVs aren't very long, and I will commend the dev for at least having different backgrounds for many of the segments. There is one company that basically went to 'sit on a couch, and have the same wall all game' which dulls the experience. Gameplay: As mentioned this is a stat raising game, so you have to balance needs like money, rest, and health as well as trying to raise certain stats so you could unlock more advanced skills or other jobs. Compared to other games like this, this one isn't to difficult but you definitely won't get everything on one playthrough. Sound/Music: There are plenty of sounds and music in the game, as well as audio especially thanks to the FMV parts. Nothing really stood out to me, but neither did it detract. Difficulty: This game isn't to difficult if you decide to focus on a certain job or maximize a stat. If you are a completionist, there is no way you can get everything all at once. One other thing is that along the way, hints will unlock about how to get certain jobs at the end with what stats they need. Extras/Achievements: This game has Achievements, and they aren't to tough to get other than spending a bit of time However, to get 100% will require multiple playthroughs. And it is nice that after playing through most of the scenes, you can have an option to skip them. However, there were a couple of times that it didn't (like some of the celebrations) Recommendation: So would I recommend the game? If you don't mind stat raising and FMV sequences, then this might be up your alley. The price point isn't to bad either; $6.99 US. The one caveat I have to give is that the translation...well, it could be better. You can pick your way through it but sometimes wrong pronouns, names, or action words were used, and some of them took me out of the moment.
女性,性取向男,不是恋童癖,觉得妹妹很可爱,很喜欢,很治愈的游戏
Pact Between Us is the most "game" that Mystery Crown released so far (well for what concern their FMV division at least). I was surprise. It's a good game but my point is that you actually play this instead of having almost no gameplay or a very limited gameplay like some other title from Mystery Crown (even among some titles that I do like). The video quality is good, audio is ok (maybe a few line could have been better recorded but you might not even noticed that), editing is also good (for instance, in other games they have several scenes that cut abruptly but not here). The skip system is the same that they use in all their FMV games and while it's better than nothing, it is annoying and could be better but in Pact Between Us you can activate the fast mode after you finish the game for the first time, which really makes things better (this is on top of being able to skip a scene with the button); with that on, you can get all the achievements without making the game feeling too much repetitive. The translation is..understandable..is not perfect but there's way worst (and this is a problem among the majority of Chinese FMV) and in this case, honestly the not perfect translation created a scene that is hilarious to me. "The future is changed", i just love that (your little sister's name gets wrongfully translate as "future"). However as i said it is understandable and because you can change the future, I don't have any complains about the translation. Sadly there are no extras like videos, behinds the scenes or even pictures. Also, while there is a windowed mode, you can't resize it and it's basically the same resolution as a full screen. I could have used a resizable window mode while I farming for achievements after the first run but eh..is not a big deal. Keep in mind that is game is a managerial subgenre, very common in asia with some titles in the west as well, where you basically plan your activities, train, get resources and so on. I personally like this type of games and this is generally speaking a good game.
