The game is visually charming, and has an incredible demo. The aesthetic in gorgeous. However on controller, the full game does not play like the demo. It is buggy and I am not able to choose my own buttons. The controller only works with a few buttons even without trying to change them. You much push the joystick forward instead of being able to use the trigger to accelerate. Completely ruins my enjoyment. For some reason, the demo has completely normal controls. If you are going fast, grazing or running into a wall at all will bounce you and spin you out. It is very harsh with walls, but it doesn't take way too much away from my personal enjoyment. Overall, the game is beautiful but the game play is incredibly awful if you cannot play on keyboard. 10/10 visuals, 7/10 gameplay. 1/10 controls. Very upset I paid for broken controls.
I have enjoyed this game so far, I love the aesthetic and the design of the cars. The map designs are reminiscent of Mario kart , I like the drifting mechanic and all of the abilities that are tailored for each car. Overall this is a great game and I would definitely recommend it.

With 3 1/2 hours under the hood (<--car joke, don't delete me plz haha), here's what my laps around the track have discovered (<-- another one) Outmode's neon-graphical retro style is actually not too shabby. Normally neon colors give me a headache pretty quick, and while I did have some eyestrain I was able to tolerate the colors better (except for the tunnels, those things are hard on the eyes) (*note: this is an issue i always have with neon colored game) The synthwave music used in-game has some good bass lines and will serve you well through your laps around the various tracks. You can add your own music, however you cannot mix your music with the soundtrack so it's one or the other. Mechanically speaking, the game works fine mouse/keyboard or controller, but there IS a known bug with the controller on the menus not always working (it is an issue with the version of Unity used) so keep your mouse handy. Everything else is smooth; although the drift mechanic needs to be better explained (took me awhile to figure out you had to constantly drift over long distances to get the NOS built up). -- Developer was responsive on a couple of issues I had before I streamed it the first time, so props to him for the promptness. The vehicles do have differences, and while I've only unlocked two so far (starter + vigilante) they seem to be varied enough to warrant unlocking. The Vigilante does have a weird problem in RADD mode where it doesn't actually drive the entire time (I crashed every time I used it) and the gun doesn't seem to shoot. Track designs all have basic similarities but there are enough differences so they don't feel like the same thing, so plus on track design there. I did run into a glitch on one track where the road vanished and I ended up falling forever (it's actually in the video I'll post below) and another instance where the road textures didn't line up and formed an invisible roadblock I couldn't get by. Overall the game is enjoyable, and the $10.99 price tag is acceptable since there is a solid amount of replay value with the various lap cycles, difficulties and number of rivals you can select on tracks. And there is score chasing with a global leaderboard as well (if you go 80's style, gotta have the scores). Will recommend, especially if you like a good racing game. Oh yeah, there's also remote play so you can race a buddy, and VR support (though I will never personally play VR) for enthusiasts of VR. Edit: One thing I have noticed is there are also some random things that just stop you from driving and you're forced to reset the tracks. Especially true on Endless mode (which makes it not really endless?) Check out my VOD on Youtube (remember to like & sub there) and let it help you decide :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emZCBSOUne0
Outmode definitely nails the synthwave vibe, but it doesn't really nail the gameplay part of a videogame. It looks great - from the car models to the tracks to the locations - and the music is god-tier. However, the controls are stiff, the physics are inconsistent and glitchy and the AI is absolutely brainless and propped up by a very unbalanced rubber-banding mechanic - one moment you are quarter of a track ahead, next all the cars are going faster than their supposed max speed through a corner where they should be braking and a second later, on a fast part of the track, half the AI cars slow down to a crawl and let you pass effortlessly. If the AI was at least a bit more consistent, I could recommend this game, but as it stands, despite it's low price, I cannot. Check out the soundtrack though, it's awesome.
Solid game, gorgeous aesthetics. Driving feels good, there are some bugs especially when using controller, but I have no doubt once things get ironed out after the early launch, it will be an excellent game

It has its bugs but its a fun little game with nice looking achievements to display! (Edit: It wont let you select the game from your list of games when trying to display achievements :/)
Игра лютая дичь, в ней нет нихрена, сделано все через сраку, еще и за мод платить?
Really wish I had a VR headset to try this out. Really cool visual style even when playing on a normal TV
Schlechte Physik-Engine.
