This was a pretty fun, laid-back, horror/puzzle game that I enjoyed. It has a decent amount of jump scares in it which is always a good time and it had some decent puzzle aspects to it. The big ugly's (monsters) are pretty gross looking and will make you run away as fast as you can from fear of dying. I received this game for free but it is still worth the $13 price tag since I didn't encounter any bugs/glitches in this game and it ran smoothly. Not the highest end graphics or textures but you can still tell a lot of love was put into this game. Thanks for letting me play your game and I hope others enjoy it as well.
Not to bad! I encountered a few bugs in the game but nothing too terrible just needs a bit of polishing. Overall 7/10 for me. I enjoyed the jump scares and the monsters genuinely had my heart racing when I was discovered and had to hide quickly. Give it a shot. :)
Jogo bom, lembra muito com outlast
Great and short horror game! It could probably be longer if it had more puzzles. The game sort of fizzles down to finding keys conveniently left around the rooms, pretty easy to find which I think is a good thing. I am not a fan of batteries in games, outlast did it best and was a sort of pioneer for the feature and now everyone has to do it. It gets old. However I never had under 10 batteries and you can still navigate okay in the dark so it wasn't obnoxious. At that point, however, you may as well forget about the battery feature and just take it out altogether. It's supposed to be an inconvenience and it really wasn't in this game. To reiterate, I think it's better that way. Down with the age of battery powered devices in video games. The game also had mystery to it. There was a man that wandered around ahead of you that looked fairly normal and almost exactly like an Outlast character. You never get to find out his story so could make a sequel. I also appreciated the lack of religious symbolism. Outlast was hard-core on the Christian/Cult symbolism and frankly, it gets old. We get it. You hate Christianity. This game wasn't like that at all, from what I could tell. I never got lost or too confused. Died a couple of times and deserved it. It may have even been a little too easy, some areas had arrows directing you and the camera tends to pan over to objectives and threats. For a two dev game, it's well done and they could easily do more with their skills. Keep up the good work.
"Outlive is more than just a game - it's a labor of great passion created by an indie studio founded by only a father and his son." This is something I respect greatly. I'm glad the studio made it this far with father and son as a team, and I look forward to seeing it grow. The game is reminiscent of classics like Outlast and Amnesia, so if that's your style, this is a pleasant experience. Bonus point: the camera battery tells me how much time I have left. THANK YOU.
I have mixed feelings about Outlive. For a team that consists of just two people, i can't be too harsh. I was hoping for a solid horror game with violence, tension and monsters, and instead I got a moderately tense series of rooms with keys and valves and switches. The first time i played it i just got annoyed and gave up after 30 minutes. Second time i gave it a good chance, and managed to eventually finish it. After the gas room and valve locating parts of the game are over it gets way more enjoyable. It's well designed, not too confusing. But that gas room right at the start, irritating. There are 2 enemies in the game. One is a creature that looks like a mutant tree, and the other is an angry man wearing a gas mask. I liked the random jump scares and eerie sequences where you suddenly find you're being stared at by something. The speed that the character moves from left to right can be adjusted in the menu thankfully, but this will make picking up Anything in the game an absolute chore. The objects are So Tiny and require pinpoint precision to pick up. The blood splattered walls and floors look great. I encountered no glitches or errors (apart from 2 batteries that couldn't be picked up, and i had more than enough already). And the latter half of the game is pretty solid and creates a decent amount of tension. Hearing the lift go 'Ping!' and realising that you ain't safe, arrgh! By the end of the game I had collected 24 batteries and used maybe 6. Cool little effort, Outlive is alright
This is a really fun horror game. It's similar to Outlast in a lot of ways so if you liked Outlast you will also like this game (probably). There are some differences though. Outlive has more puzzles where you have to search for an item, mostly keys, key cards and generators. The jumpscares in this game are much better than in most other horror games I've played, they are in places that you wouldn't expect a jumpscare to be. Some of them got me good! The enemy variety could be better, (spoiler ->) they are basically the exact same one reskinned, which at times may feel cheap. There is one enemy that you only see in cutscenes that would fit into the gameplay part of the game really well, but for some reason it is never used outside of cutscenes, I'm talking about the crawling monster. (end of the spoiler) There is one thing that I didn't really like and that is the way loading screens are done. It takes you out of the experience by making you look at a static art piece for the whole loading. That coulad have been done differently, a nice transition would have worked better. I would also like to mention the atmosphere, which is great. It builds up well, the sounds are nice and 3D and the lighting is really well done. Though out placement of the lighting strips really enhances the experience. Overall a really well made horror game that is worth the cost. If you like horror games, definitely give this one a chance, it's very enjoyable!
Jumpscares are very well designed they pop up just when we dont expect them to show which is good for horror aspect,Although the Npc-s are not really smart and can be outrun easily which makes the games less scary in my opinion but since its only two people who have worked on this game and i believe with very tight budget i cant really complain havent seen any bugs with levels mapping etc. It is worth to give it a try and i wish the game has more popularity it really deserves it.
