Out of the Ocean

Another lovely yuri VN from Ebi-hime, with branching paths, mermaids, and a poly ending. What's not to love?

Out of the Ocean is a silly, and for the most part light VN about a teenage girl and her love predicament. While I haven't finished the game, the components of the story that I have gotten through are very interesting and keep me entertained easily. If sleep was not required, I am sure I would get through this in one sitting. This is a must have for anyone collecting Ebi-Hime produced VNS or Yuri in general. There are many dialogue options and multiple endings that I can't wait to double back on and find. This game ranks near the top of my rankings for VNs and very high for story games in general. This is a game for almost anyone, and I'd recommend it for anyone wanting to get into Yuri or just the VN format as a whole.

Truth in advertising ✅ Out of the Ocean is a branching yuri visual novel about a high school girl, Asuka, who just moved in with her aunt after her parents went abroad for work. While Asuka is worrying about whether she'll be able to fit in at her new school, she takes a walk along the beach to clear her head--and instead finds and rescues Nerine, a mermaid washed up on the shore. While it's pretty obvious that Nerine was intended to be the primary love interest of the VN, there's also a second LI, Asuka's refined classmate Misuzu, and even a polyamorous ending where they all end up in a throuple together. These other endings aren't quite as fleshed out as Nerine's solo route (even though the poly ending does get [spoiler]an extra bonus epilogue in the endings menu[/spoiler] to make up for it) but they're still good and really nice to have. There is a bit of drama in the story (regarding why Nerine was washed up on the shore in the first place, and an antagonist who gets introduced partway through) but the majority of it is cute slice-of-life with a slightly magical flavor. Very much a Cute Girls Doing Cute Things story. This is helped out by the fact that there's a bunch of really good art--all of the main characters have multiple outfits, and there are plenty of CGs all throughout the game. While you shouldn't expect anything too deep here, the game is very well-written for what it is, especially in Nerine's route. However, I do still recommend checking out the rest of the endings too (they're not hard to get; it's pretty straightforward what leads to them all) as they're also quite good.

Mermaid Yuri with such pretty art and music

Out of the Ocean is a wholesome teenage romance story in which you play as a 16-year-old girl who meets two new friends she can form a relationship with. You are not limited to choosing just one, as the game also allows for a poly relationship between all three. It is a few hours long and has a cute and unique touch, since one of the two girls is an incredibly friendly mermaid. The graphics are great, and I like that we get several different endings, even if most of the story is fairly linear apart from those endings. The calm and relaxing background music adds a lot to the atmosphere, and the few sound effects included are nice as well, especially one that is particularly fun. It also has the same charm as other ebi-hime games, so if you enjoy her style, you will most likely enjoy this one too. I would even say this is one of her better titles. Overall, a simple but lovely VN for anyone who enjoys cute girls falling in love with each other. This game is so cute I love it so much! I've literally never reviewed a game before but really wanted to show this one some love <3 I'm still only partway through it but wanted to leave the very strongly recommend now because I know early reviews are important and Ebi-Hime deserves the support! This is the first game in ages I bought new instead of waiting for it to drop in price (literally can't remember the last time I bought a game close to full price) and it has not disappointed in the least.

An another "visual novel that takes place in the Omorishima island" to my collection of ebihime's universe™. That was a pretty good mermaid yuri VN ! (thank god we don't drown in this one) I did and loved of all the endings but I think my favorite is still the poly route. They're really cute together and I like their differents dynamics with each other. I also like the side couple between Marina and Ririko, I would've like to see more of them (muscular women for the win). For the question in the notes, I like both linear and branching visual novels so I wouldn't mind if there will be more like this !

Poly Yuri!!!!!!

I couldn't resist the mermaid yuri and I'm glad to have found a very sweet and wholesome VN, the artworks are gorgeous and the writing flows well (and is also very easy to follow as a non-english person, which is a plus). After reaching my first ending, which was the one I was going for, I can say the story starts off a bit slow but the payoff is worth it! I loved getting to know the characters and seeing how they interact with eachother. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of artworks, they're all beautifully rendered and really capture the characters' expressions well! I'd definitely recommend this VN if you're looking for something sweet and fluffy to read.
