This is a platformer played from the first person perspective that looks like a walking sim. We have short sections that we need to complete by simply going from point A to point B. Along the way lots of jumping is included. At first the game looks interesting as we start outside and we familiarise ourselves with the jumping mechanic. Later sections will become more difficult. Falling into water, for instance, immediately puts us back at the beginning of the level. There isn't any story or goals, no texts. I assume the game just wants to be relaxing. Still, we can find tokens (100 of them) as we try to complete the game. Personally, I didn't have patience to further play it after 20 minutes. Jumping is very faulty - it is easy to jump too far or not far enough. It is one of those games where precision is very important and the game is unforgiving in case you make mistakes. In later stages spear traps are introduced. Some retract then activate again. Even in their retracted form they can hurt you causing you to spawn at the beginning of the level. Not sure if this is normal or just a glitch. In terms of graphics the game looks beautiful. Unfortunately, the settings menu only allows you to select the overall level of quality. You can't go into details to get a more optimised solution. Because of this the FPS jump between two settings can be huge. Under "high" settings the game is already slow for me while "medium" can give me a steady 60 FPS. It's an interesting indie game but given the bad optimisation and wonky jumping mechanics I cannot recommend it. As it hasn't been a week since its release I assume we will see some patches to remedy the issues it currently has.

I really liked the ending, but for something that seems to try and be a peaceful game, it feels more like it wants to be a rage game. The main issue with this one, is that the controls are just getting in the way of the player, I don't know if the game is meant for a control, and using keyboard just makes that harder, but there were 2 parts that really gave me a hard time (honestly probably 80% of my time was just those 2 parts.) but I like it for what it is.
Doğada dolaşın. Tehlikelerin üstesinden gelin. kutsal yolculuğunuzun sonuna ulaşın... Ama daha fazla derine inmeyin. Çerezlik ve güzel görsellere sahip mekanların tadını çıkartın.
I would love to give this game a positive review but I can not! the movement is wonky and too fast for the precision some of the jumps need. other times you can't get any speed and other times yet something launches you sideways. THe game seems likea waking sim but the walking part has not been handled the best
"Only The Lost Shall See" is a low key asset flip, a bunch of other people's assets assembled badly to make a basic game, typically this kind of thing is done by amateur developers without sufficient budget, talent and/or staff to do the job of game development professionally. It's then quickly rushed into Steam Direct. And, unsurprisingly, this never results in a product with any quality, interest, or value for gamers. Usually when developers rip off a bunch of other people's assets and slap their own name on them, they at least make some kind of effort to make a "game" of some sort out of the mess. Here, however, while the "borrowed" game assets are exceptionally good quality (thanks Unreal Marketplace), the developer didn't bother with much of a game, this is a pointless walking sim with a little bit of badly done jumping around. So, the game might look better than you'd expect from an amateur project, but this is because it's partially or completely made up of stock assets, "borrowed" from asset stores and free asset websites. Very little in this game is truly the creation of the "developer", it's just a bunch of rearranged assets. While there's no up front price for this asset flip, the other problem with asset flips is that when developers aren't capable of doing their job and creating high quality assets, it's also true they can't do any of the rest of the job of a game developer either. That's definitely true for "Only The Lost Shall See". The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Yes, obviously it's possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or something that's less than a little blip on the radar isn't offering anything truly valuable to gamers. On pricing, this is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 3 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. There's no financial cost up-front, but you'd still be spending your time and a little hard drive space on a product that's far from the best. There's thousands of better alternatives on Steam.
"The Lost Shell Sea" presents a stunningly beautiful world, offering players a visually captivating experience. The game's environments are rich in detail, making exploration enjoyable and engaging. However, when it comes to movement, the game falls short. The controls feel janky and unpolished, which detracts from the overall experience. Despite this, the gameplay itself is still relatively fun, especially for a movement simulation, as the challenges and interactions within the world keep things interesting. If you're able to overlook the awkward movement mechanics, "The Lost Shell Sea" offers a visually immersive and enjoyable adventure.
"The Lost Shell Sea" immerses players in a breathtakingly beautiful world, showcasing a visually stunning experience. With richly detailed environments, exploration is both enjoyable and captivating. However, the movement mechanics leave something to be desired. The controls feel cumbersome and lack the polish you'd hope for, which somewhat detracts from the overall enjoyment. That said, the gameplay itself remains engaging, especially for a movement-focused game, as the challenges and interactions keep it lively. If you can look past the awkward controls, "The Lost Shell Sea" serves up an immersive and delightful adventure. While I appreciated the ending, the game's peaceful vibe often contradicts its tendency to feel like a rage-inducing challenge. A significant issue is the controls, which can hinder the player's experience. I’m not sure if it’s better suited for a game controller; using the keyboard certainly made things trickier for me. There were two segments that particularly frustrated me, consuming about 80% of my playtime. Still, I enjoy the game for what it offers. The atmosphere is truly wonderful, though the repetitive sound of the jumping character can become a distraction. I found it to be a pleasantly relaxing platformer, although judging jump distances could be tricky. After viewing the trailer, I noticed it seems to shift gears beyond what I managed to experience in my time with the game.
The jumping is annoying and I couldn't care less about the tokens.
