Short version: Pros: + Addictive gameplay loop + Funny narrator + Decent music Cons: - First few levels are very slow "Long" version: OneJump is developed and published by Felix T. Vogel. He was kind enough to send me a review code through Curator Connect on Steam. While he did not ask me to review it, I was pleasantly surprised and decided to share my thoughts. It is a very tough precision platformer that will test your patience. You control a tiny square that automatically moves left or right and you can only change its direction and jump. Your goal is to jump at the right time in order to hit increasingly smaller green squares, while avoiding red/black ones. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2569860192 The concept is very simple but there is something that just clicked with me. It gets insanely fast and hard. While it is not too hard to dodge the wrong squares, timing the jumps is very tricky because the green squares are ridiculously tiny. If you die, you have to start over. You can restart quickly but the first 3 levels are super slow and they are very frustrating to complete over and over again and it feels like you are getting nowhere. Also, the jump in difficulty between level 3 and 4 is absurd. I honestly thought I would not play much of this game at first because of how unfair it seemed. That is the only problem I had with OneJump. But I am glad I kept trying - this game entertained me almost as much as Super Hexagon. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2566250310 There is a local PvP mode that is a good laugh against a buddy but I cannot see it being played for long. You can earn multiplayer achievements on your own, which is great. Visuals are very barebones. Not much to say regarding the presentation. It is minimalistic, it works. I can see the music being annoying to some players. I did not mind it. The narrator was quite charming. I do not know if it was Felix T. Vogel himself who voiced it, but I chuckled the first time I heard it. Again, very basic lines, barely in the game. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2583886756 OneJump is hard. Really hard. I had to play it for 21 hours to get that horrendous final achievement - but you know what? I had fun. It is current selling for 80 cents. You can get it for 40 on a sale - I reckon that is worth it. Definitely not up everyone's alley, but I bet there are a few gamers who will enjoy it. Watch some gameplay and decide :) Final score: 7 out of 10.
Check out my curator page for more awesome spoiler-free reviews

TL;DR
OneJump is based on a good concept but falls short in terms of execution. It just lacks the necessary polish and does nothing good enough to justify playing it.
Gameplay
OneJump is extremely simple and easy to understand. You move a block to the left or right on a line and have to hit targets via jumping. A jump that does not connect with a target will end the current run. Later on, obstacles will start to fall randomly, and hitting them also equals death. The general concept is excellent and works well. There are two relevant modes: Infinite Runs that center around high scores VS Mode against other real players First of which is the most relevant. A skill difference in such a game is constant and nigh impossible to overcome because it needs practice and luck. This makes the VS Mode more or less obsolete.
Critique
The game has some glaring problems. The first one is that the Infinite Runs are boring to play through as restarting runs wastes a lot of time. The first two stages are too easy and have no real engagement to offer. But at first, they will dominate the time invested in the game. The higher stages also are way too hard. While the skill curve is steep, the jump from stage six to stage seven is a ridiculous roadblock. At this point, I lost interest. Another terrible problem is that blocks (bad and good) spawn randomly. This makes it possible to instantly die from a bad block that spawned at an unlucky place. There are some neat tricks to learn. An example is that good blocks offer protection from bad blocks. Another one is that no new waves of bad block can spawn if the current wave has not run its course. There is nothing more to learn.
Immersion/Bugs
The music is just a little too much. I understand that generic tunes have to be used for such a "small" game. Yet the soundtrack does not feel fitting. In terms of bugs, I encountered some, but they were not game-breaking. OneJump still lacks the polish I would hope a focussed experience like this would have though.
Conclusion
OneJump does too little to be actually a game worth playing. While the premise holds potential, OneJump can not deliver on it. It lacks the selling point and reason why I would play it over any other arcade game.
As of now, meme curators dominate Steam. I am still going to pump my heart into these reviews. https://store.steampowered.com/curator/31884377-If-It-Is-Insane/
The game is really wonderful, it has nice music and beautiful retro graphics! If you concentrate a little, you have a small chance of making it into the ranking Top 10 ... I love it <3
