One Last Breath is an atmospheric 2.5D puzzle platformer that has vibes of Inside and White Shadows. It has a very gloomy and depressing backdrop and is very dark in places. I literally had to turn up the brightness and contrast on my monitor and draw the curtains to see what I was doing! This makes it very atmospheric, and with the accompanying synth soundtrack, the experience felt polished and intriguing. The journey felt a little like an atmospheric and interactive walking simulator, although there are a number of puzzles along the way which might take a few attempts to work out, or just use a bit of trial and error to succeed. There are some stealth sections, but nothing too difficult, and a few chase scenes where you have to be quick whilst avoiding enemies. I didn't have much trouble completing any of the puzzles. They do get harder as you progress but it definitely won't please puzzle enthusiasts looking for some decent puzzles. I think it is far too easy to be called a puzzle game. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3206920885 Getting all the achievements is a challenge though, as there are ten collectibles, which are reasonably hidden, and there is an alternative ending to find, which should add an hour or two to your game time. There is a chapter select which can be accessed at any time during your play if you want to repeat sections and get any missed achievements. The story is open to interpretation, and to be honest I learnt more by reading the store page after the game had finished than understanding the story by playing the game. I've found this to be the case in most games of this nature though where there is no voice acting or character interaction. Honestly, it was fine. I enjoyed the relaxed and chilled vibe to the game and you could tell that there was a strong message about mother nature. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3208166482 There are some really nice looking locales and environments and some dramatic and memorable scenes.
🍳Conclusion🍳

[b] I enjoyed my time with One Last Breathe and liked it enough to complete the game to 100% which is always a good sign. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone looking for a challenging puzzle game but I would certainly recommend it to anyone who likes atmospheric walking simulators, although due to its short length I would suggest you wait for a sale. If you've played and enjoyed games like ........... Limbo, Inside, Black the Fall or White Shadows ................ this game is for you, just buy it and you will not be disappointed. Clever use of sound and background visual clues form parts of the gameplay. Even if you're a seasoned player of the games I mention above, you'll find some of the puzzles simple or obvious and others will frustrate you for a short while, but you can soon figure them out. in parts you'll find yourself faced with directional options, and as in some other games your decision can be one way and only by replaying the level can give you the chance to view the section/s you missed only seen a couple of minor bugs, one with the top of a ladder and the other was while moving a box The option to see which collectables I have missed showing up on the level select screen would be nice, however there is a massive clue to these in one of the later levels, so this is no biggie, especially if you take a screenshot. There needs to be more games like this, perfect game for casual pick up and play
Saw the game last year at GamesCom and was immediately attracted by it. Never expected to be a mix of LIMBO and INSIDE. What's in fact really good. Love the setting, atmosphere and story.
For a game I was excited to play, One Last Breath disappointed me. This is a short 2 hour game and most of that is spent just running from left to right. There is nothing here that stands out or impresses. While I don’t want to downplay the studio’s work, this gives off “game project” vibes. Its almost as if someone took their Unreal Engine project and managed to get someone to help publish it.
Good Graphics, amazing on an Ultrawide monitor. Story and atmoshpere are good, not too difficult and not to easy, enjoyed it for the price.
Unplayable. There is a 50% chance that the game will freeze and crash every time you load. It urgently needs a patch.
Another one of those little games trying to take inspiration from Inside, but, of course, the experience is not comparable, not even close. You constantly die in ways you couldn't have possibly foreseen. The game is just unfair. Each time it happens you restart at the last checkpoint and you'd think you'd be ready this time, yet you die again, and again. The controls are not precise and responsive enough, and the traps and platforming sequences, already suffering from a blatant lack of inspiration, end up being just frustrating.
Negative stuff out of the way first. A bit pricey for such a short game. I kinda wish there was a sprint button. But every time I wanted to sprint, it was because I hadn't figured out the intended solution yet. ^_^; Graphics aren't the best but suit the style. I like the visual story telling. Though wish the ending cutscenes were fully animated. I like Gaia's design and the designs of the enemies. Enemies could be more varied though. Bought this because the cover art and gameplay reminded me of Little Nightmares. Though, more like Limbo and Inside. Not perfect, but it's a shame people are sleeping on this game.
