Story around a library and re-experience. English voiced, multiple romances. [早期/ADV] 体験した恋愛話を執筆する
Okay, so this game is currently in early access, with only about 25% done as the developers stated, and I'll take that into account. I had a fun time with the game. The characters end up being pretty developed and likable, and Felix strayed a bit further from just being that "one generic male MC in a dating game", pushing out his personal troubles and how he's dealing with them, something that could happen to any one of us. That's the main basis of the story - him coping with losing his girlfriend who meant a lot to him, and he being given another chance to see her by building up relationships with other people and writing them in a diary. That's all I'll say for now.
Pros

Visually, I thought the game to look pleasing. The character designs, CGs and UI, while may being a tad bit generic, are pretty great in their own right especially for an indie effort. I wasn't a big fan of the environment art though, it was pretty empty and really standard for a VN, but I guess it's trying to convey an everyday life.
I liked the music too, there were some tracks that I may just boot up in the future to listen to. The composers did a good job composing an OST that complements the game well.
I really liked how every character but Felix was voiced, a terrific effort for an indie game and it shows they cared since the performance is really solid...well most of the text is still Felix monologuing and Felix talking to the character but yeah. I had some issues with it, which I'll mention below.
While the game can get depressing and sad due to Felix coping with loss being the main theme of the game, there's occasional moments of humor where the jokes made are genuinely funny. Sometimes a bit out of place, but funny. So I'd say the game was written pretty well.
Giving the players the option to review the music and CG in the menu is a standard addition but a welcome one regardless.

Cons

There's some grammatical errors (which I hope will get ironed out in the future) and duplicate voiced lines, even cases where it was voiced without a text line change. There was one case with text going past the text box. Since it's early access, I don't doubt it'll get taken into account.
The beginning is a bit slow and it takes time to sink in, it's also the part with the most errors I mentioned. During Nia's route, they barely happen.
Voices tend to have inconsistent sound, sometimes one character talks in the typical volume but the next one sounds louder than they should (in particular Jitai and Aina). There was one guy who literally yelled. To be fair, it's an effort that was insanely good, but the screaming was so loud that it literally hurt my eardrums and I had to mute the game for the majority of that scene. Aina's voice is sort of annoying too, since it's robotic and it breaks me setting the game on autoplay because she talks for at least twice as long as others, I have to reach out and move the text on my own.
I'd say it's a bit too standard for the genre. It doesn't go out of it's comfort zone, doing what most other VNs do in terms of choices and moving the story forward. But I'm alright with that considering it's a genre I like.
All in all, I liked it. It was a memorable enough experience, even if nothing too groundbreaking, and since this version of early access only got Nia's route (childhood friend always wins woooo), I'm fairly hyped to see what the devs got in store for the future. Worth the price? It may be lacking in content at the present but it's a pretty low price point so it was worth it for me, but for you it entirely depends on if you like the genre. Thanks for reading!

Follow Far2close - Visual Novel Playthroughs Curator Page Once More Developer: Malheur Games Publisher: Malheur Games Pros: 1. I found the plot to be quite interesting utilizing the memories of Mima holding back Felix and how with the Library of Alexandria being a stepping stone in order for Felix to move on. Just the way it handles grief, depression, and how to get out of it is done well. Both endings handle it properly with the good ending going with
Felix being happy that he can start with Nia and he can put Mima to rest, even if will be a challenge during the relationship. The same goes for the bad ending when Felix can't properly move on and the surrogate being extremely similar to Mima, eventually driving Felix to the deep end.
2. The characters are great even with the supporting characters such as Shifa and Mr. Merganser being extremely important in Felix's development. Without Shifa, he would not have the driving force to move on, without Mr. Merganser, he would not have developed a better understanding with Cami. Nia's character is that usual childhood friend theme, but it also makes her a well written character involving not only her insecurities but also Kavy's worries towards both Nia and Felix. 3. The design is cute with each character possessing such fine details that make them stand out such Mr. Jital's cultural attire and upbeat attitude, Felix's mundane look on life and maintaining an appearance that doesn't stand out, and Nia's hyperactivity regarding programming or video games. The voice acting is also great to hear, all the actors and actresses did a fantastic job. The kid screaming in the counseling room? Fabulous. Kavy's unpredictability and pure feelings during her explanation? Excellent. I truly enjoyed the voice acting. 4. I like the music, the music does help an extensive amount in setting the tone of the scenes whether it be Tsuzurarenai Kotoba fitting the wonders of the Library of Alexandria, Sad Event to a somber moment of Felix chatting with Nia, and Ethereal Horizon for a rising conflict that may lead to a broken friendship. Cons: 1. The good ending for Nia is a nice end, but it does lack the resolution where it doesn't show much of The Library of Alexandria after you've
gotten in a relationship with Nia
there just isn't much regarding Shifa or Boss' reaction, or a proper final action with these two characters. 2. It would be beneficial to have individual volume sliders for each voiced character, in case you dislike a character's voice, you can disable it but keep it for the others. For my situation, AI's voice is cool for the first few times, but as it keeps going it does get tiring and annoying to listen to, prompting me to read her sections as fast as possible. Conclusion: Even though it is not fully finished, Once More is definitely a promising story surrounding grief and moving on. It possesses great characters and fantastic voice acting, with some hiccups here and there. Score: 8/10 GREAT + EARLY ACCESS
<-- Review written for 3 Point Play -->
"Write the ending you've always deserved in life" Once More is a western VN featuring high quality assets, professional voice acting (in english) and a pretty unique story. I feel like I'm using the word "unique" a lot lately in my reviews, so let's expand a bit on what does "unique" means for Once More's story:

It features a blonde reaper as a potential love interest.
The bear guy from Full Metal Panic Fumoffu (and Amagi Brilliant Park) is a character and he runs a library.
It features a library.
I'm not sure how much could I explain about the story without spoiling it. But you're bound to find out about this like 15 min into the game, so, the argument is based on our main character no-clipping into the Library of Alexandria, a place in which there are (obviously) a lot of books (yet they're not scrolls but actual modern-day books as we know them today) which allow their reader to experience something based on their contents... in exchange for the pleasure, you'll be paying with time of your life based on the amount of time you've experienced in the book (and time, for that matter, is freezed outside of the boundaries of the library, so it is something like that planet in Interstellar: 1 week spent in the book can mean like 1 hour in the real world, yet you'll lose 1 week of your total lifespan in order for you to not be able to reach inmortality by book-hopping) Overall, it's a pretty interesting concept. Feels pretty much like real life after all: We do spend a lot of time in other worlds as our lifespan runs out by an equal value; a wise man once said: "The most important thing in life is to spend as much time in your computer as you can, as you'll have no access to it once you're dead". Going back to the story, the main character is tasked with developing a relationship with a potential love interest, and to write about it, so the library can have once and for all, an authentic love story. All of this while the main character deals with the ghost of his ex-girlfriend and school life. Pretty hard if you ask me. As for my own thoughts, I reckon it's a pretty nice VN, it has a lot of potential, and the english voice acting kinda makes it stand out... don't get me wrong, I'm a massive weeb and I love japanese voice acting, but it feels great to listen to something you can actually understand while you're reading, if anything, it's a valious resource to us english-as-a-second-language speakers as it helps with listening comprehension. I'm working through Cami's route, the photographer girl, but I found out (by reading the Early Access info) that it is actually not complete yet. Only Nia's route is finished at the time being. She's cute as well, but Cami appeals a bit more to me, specially considering the little sub-plot the author introduced related to her, which reminds me once more to never take anyone for granted, be them either a fictional or a real person. I recommend you pick it up if your favorite character archetype is a nerdy girl, you know, the kind of pastel nerd (an e-girl?) archetype that's pretty popular nowadays. She's also a programmer, and loves playing videogames. And she's also the MC's childhood friend. They really went all out with her! But if you're more interested in the blonde reaper, the photographer/filmmaker girl or the piano tsundere girl, you'd probably want to wait a bit more until more updates arrive. Or not, after all, getting involved with the project can surely help the devs keep working on the overall development, and you'll see new stuff for your favorite girl soon enough. As a side note, I'd recommend they investigate libraries a bit more hehe, bit of a pet peeve of mine (since I'm a librarianship student) but libraries do actually have electronic supports and PCs and the like. Libraries are a constantly-growing organism.

The story was filled with twists and turn hyping up player till the end of each route, during the time i played this it made me question if i took the bad end or good end which was both exciting and stressful. The visuals, script writing and ost were beautifully made its suites the characters and scenes, my only complain is that some times the music overlaps with each scene if you play next part a bit to fast. Also as off posting this review ( April 26, 2024) the Yuria route is a bit bugged some text lines are doubled or missing some words and letters. Some of the characters also mysteriously disappear if you load a save file. Over all i love the rich story would recommend a play thru <3.
