On-Together: Virtual Co-Working

if you know absolutely anything about me, you know that i have a bit of an obsession with focus/productivity games (as evidenced by my steam profile where you can see the many hours i've dedicated to games in this genre), but on-together was one i was really excited about leading up to its release. i'm a university student so i like to use focus games to help me keep track of my assignments, deadlines, study hours, etc. all while giving me the added benefits of earning unlockable cosmetics or upgrades. this game was really great for that, i loved making different characters and unlocking the different cosmetics available (and the desk decorations too!) the primary thing that really stood out to me was the connectivity of it all. i go away from home for uni so we don't really get to talk or spend time together during term time, but we decided to give on-together a shot and we really liked it! the virtual body-doubling was really helpful for me and allowed me to feel close with my friends :D we also had tons of fun playing basketball and fishing together !! as for the actual productivity functions, the pomodoro timer is easy to use and i really like how it loops timer sessions instead of starting and stopping! the to-do list's different sub-folders are great too, it's really helpful for when i want to do work for a specific class or non-university related items. the ui feels intuitive as well :)

one of my favourite idle body-doubling games! i love the simplistic yet inclusive designs, and there's lots of unlockables to motivate you to focus. the major reason i bought this is that you can pop out and isolate your little avatar so it takes up minimal space on the screen, and it's very easy to move around. definitely recommending to others!

It's a really cute idler to leave on while you perform other tasks or to "hangout" with friends.

helps me study! i cant focus without someone "next" to me and this solves that picky little issue. i can finally get my studying done with this :)

listen i don't know how long i'll actually stick with this, but so far it's been an adorable balm to my weary soul. getting a lot done while spending quiet time with friends i don't get to hang with very often. very intuitive, very cute. i am having a great time being a business tomato.

I've tried other games like this before, but none come close to obtaining the motivation I do with On-Together. The Pomodoro features are nice, especially the ability to jump into a session with other players. Sessions are very customizable. You can can chat if you'd like or be in the presence of others but in focus mode. The split screen options really come in handy. Updates to the game feel fresh but not overstimulating or distracting, which is important in work mode.

On Together has perfectly gameified doing work in a way that makes me excited to write my dissertation. I struggle with procrastination because sitting at a computer is so hard for me, but this game incentivizes me and stimulates me to keep going. I love seeing my little avatar in the corner of the screen while I work. I also love dressing her up with the points I earn while working. It is a brilliant game.
