I heard about this game and after I watched the video I had to give it a try. This game is gorgeous. It's beautiful to behold and has a thumping electronic soundtrack that really feeds into the action. The game spread out neatly to fit my ultra wide monitor and really is a feast for the eyes. The game is brutally difficult and rewards the player for paying attention. There is a dedication to keeping the screen free of clutter. There's no HUD, all the information is displayed organically in the background. There's also no tutorial or explanations and no options to change other than the levels of sound. You just jump in and start figuring out what's going on. Every time I died I learned a little more. For example, which enemies can be destroyed and which must be avoided because you can't kill them. There are tool tips that appear between rounds and those can be helpful or mysterious. Going from dying to starting a new round is quick enough. And it's very satisfying to make progress because there's no handholding at all. The first time I completed a level and entered the maze between levels and earned a power up was a great feeling because it was hard-earned. The controls are smooth and responsive, so when I died (frequently) it was my own fault. There is one thing I'd change if I could. In service of not cluttering the screen with extra information, the devs have the orb you control change color according to which of three lives you are currently on. It took me several rounds to figure out what was going on. You start off as pink, then if you lose a life, you are green, then white on the third life. Since this game is so fast moving and filled with action, I wish I could stay just ONE color to better keep track of myself. The pink is nice, there are no bad things that are colored pink. But the white and green are closer to enemy colors and I got lost in the particles sometimes and died more easily. But I'm not sure what a different answer is for showing what life you are on if you don't want any HUD. I respect that artistic choice. Although listed as "Unknown" for the Steam Deck, I played it on my OLED and had no problems. The screen is small for such frenetic action, and I was quickly back on my desktop monitor. People who have faster reflexes than me won't have a problem. As a future feature for this game, a high score list would be neat. I'd like to see if my current round was maybe my best round or not, and what's the highest I ever scored so I have something to shoot for. If you like a gorgeous game with a slapping soundtrack and a difficulty that gives you a sense of accomplishment, you should try this one. You can really get into a flow zone with sights and sounds.
Came in thinking I’d try this for 10 minutes… next thing I know it’s been an hour 😂 The gameplay is simple to learn but quickly becomes challenging, which makes it hard to stop playing haha. Classic “just one more run” type of game. This is definitely worth trying
I put around 10 hours of gameplay on this game and I have a few things to say about it: Graphics: The neon lights were definately the good choise, that and having a clean view with no HUD makes a huge difference keeping your screen clean so you can focus on the actual gameplay. The particle effects are on point, level designs are also very good, spacially the highest level ones. Gameplay: Very fun, exctremely challenging but rewarding, I lost count how many times I lost in a level, but when I finally beat it, the satisfaction of finally beting it was amazing, huge opportunity for try and error, learn from your mistakes, proper use of power ups, etc. Music: Music is amazing and it matches perfectly the gameplay's vibe. Very recommended, cheap, fun.
