About

The year is 198X, and you're a jobbing composer. You start out with nothing but a toy keyboard shaped like a tiger, and a brand new sequence-o-matic 4-track that your uncle bought from a shady geezer in the pub.
Word quickly spreads about the new producer on the block, and soon the commissions are rolling in. Things start humble, recording tracks for weddings, workout videos and corporate presentations, but before long you're getting asked to score fantasy movies, museum openings, and all kinds of crazy stuff.
Of course, you'll have to upgrade your kit along the way. Turns out, the local second-hand magazine is a treasure trove of objects that make interesting sounds, from singing garden gnomes and shredders-that-shred-sound-as-well-as-paper, to high-end synthesisers and musical effects. By the end, you'll have figured out a sound that's all your own.

But OFFBEAT isn't just a game. All the musical instruments are fully simulated, and the music you're recording is real. The game is secretly a complete audio production tool. Every piece of music you create in the game gets exported and saved locally on your computer as a WAV file, which you can use for whatever you want.
Music production can be costly and complex to get into, especially for beginners. We created OFFBEAT to lower barrier to entry and to offer a playful, low-pressure way to learn the basics of audio producion. The goal is just to be expressive and experimental, but by the end you'll have learned a little about synthesizers, sound design, composition and recording. Our hope is that when the game's finished, you'll have the confidence and expertise to carry on composing and recording music.

if you produce music and sequence hardware then this is probably a good "cozy game" for you
this thang teaches you music pretty much lol. It's actually such a cool concept.
Great game! I went in having 0 musical experience and was able to make some stuff that is at least interesting. The game doesn't outright teach you music, but gives you prompts and slowly introduces new mechanics in a such a way that those new to music can understand. A bit light on content as it stands, maybe 10 hours of play to complete all the missions, but the game lets you create music on your own without a prompt if you wanna keep playing. Super excited for the future of this game!

I just got to the end of what I could as of two days after release and let me tell you, this is one of the best games I have ever played in my life. The fact that this functions as a DAW, is better yet less convuluted than most DAW softwares, and gives an easy and approachable method to learning audio production is genuinely amazing. This game has style and clear love put into it and i am so glad to be able to experience this for myself. I'm thrilled at the price, I'm thrilled at the story, especially the Lilith portion, and I am thrilled at the fun I have had for about 6 hours just today. I urge you to buy this game ASAP

Bleeps, bloops, squonks, and bzzzzzt. Game of the century!
This game is a neat little thing that awakened ancient memories in me and now I'm bidding on a new keyboard for my home office as a result. 10/10, granted you'd probably need to be into electronic music!
