About

The year is 198X, and you're a jobbing composer. You start out with nothing but a toy keyboard shaped like a tiger, and a brand new sequence-o-matic 4-track that your uncle bought from a shady geezer in the pub.
Word quickly spreads about the new producer on the block, and soon the commissions are rolling in. Things start humble, recording tracks for weddings, workout videos and corporate presentations, but before long you're getting asked to score fantasy movies, museum openings, and all kinds of crazy stuff.
Of course, you'll have to upgrade your kit along the way. Turns out, the local second-hand magazine is a treasure trove of objects that make interesting sounds, from singing garden gnomes and shredders-that-shred-sound-as-well-as-paper, to high-end synthesisers and musical effects. By the end, you'll have figured out a sound that's all your own.

But OFFBEAT isn't just a game. All the musical instruments are fully simulated, and the music you're recording is real. The game is secretly a complete audio production tool. Every piece of music you create in the game gets exported and saved locally on your computer as a WAV file, which you can use for whatever you want.
Music production can be costly and complex to get into, especially for beginners. We created OFFBEAT to lower barrier to entry and to offer a playful, low-pressure way to learn the basics of audio producion. The goal is just to be expressive and experimental, but by the end you'll have learned a little about synthesizers, sound design, composition and recording. Our hope is that when the game's finished, you'll have the confidence and expertise to carry on composing and recording music.

Instantly fell in love with this game. Would highly recommend to anyone that has any sort of interest in making music regardless of skill level. Very easy to pick up and understand. Plus any music that you create in this game is by all rights yours. You are free to do whatever you want with it. I very much look forward to the day that a chart topping single is created entirely within this game.
Amazing and charming game, I really love it. As a musician, I came into this game just thinking it would be simple little composer app but it was much more than I had initially expected. This game has an option to make it as simple or as complex as you want and that is something I really appreciate. All of the jobs and toy instruments have so much creativity and depth to them that it really provokes my mind to think of new ideas, especially during Lilith's wedding. I will always recommend this game to my friends and I am very excited to see where this game goes, however... I have one question, how do you change time signature? If that is not in the game then I 100% recommend adding it, I found out how to change tempo, key and amount of measures but not the amounts of beats in a measure.
If you want to learn some basic music production but have always felt overwhelmed by professional studio software, then get this game. It's a Fischer Price music studio, and I mean that in the most complimentary way. The slow trickle of equipment, and missions that have you make use of various aspects of the equipment help ease you into understanding how to make different sounds by tuning and playing around with buttons and knobs. This is one of my favorite games of the year. I'm having a blast making little beats and melodies. If that sounds like something you enjoy, then you should get this game. P.S. Don't let my low playtime fool you, I spent A LOT of time with the demo before release.
Incredible already!
Very Fun very cool, would love to see a few quality of life stuff, and maybe even more explanation through some of the stuff
This is the best game I have ever played.
Game is super fun so far, the save and quit option doesn't seem to work sometimes so I lost around 30 minutes of gameplay. Another thing I noticed and I could be missing something but for the gnome piano roll I can't scroll up or down like I can for the cat.
