My friend worked on this game for about 1 1/2 years nearly every day after work by himself. The amount of passion and effort that went into this very personal project is something to behold itself. This game is a true story from someone I care very much about. I think anyone with any experience with mental health problems should play this game, as it will resonate with you. Don't push yourself too hard.
If you have an hour to burn on being presented with a story of someone who went through something quite intense using a simple game for telling it, do it! Popped up in the new and trending list for some reason and I'm happy it did. This short (1 hour-ish) story game is very personal. While gameplay is not very challenging and a little clunky at times, it supports the storytelling/pacing quite well. And as a more personal note to the developer: happy to hear you found your way forward.

I don't normally leave reviews, but I think this game deserves one. Personally I found it very difficult to play through the full game, but I'm glad I did. It was a very intimate telling of the developer's experiences, and I applaud them for sharing this so openly to help spread awareness and let people know that they're not alone. I don't think there's a very good understanding of what people with mental illness, and especially those in psychiatric hospitals, go through. From other stories it seems like it's really hit or miss on the way that they're treated, when in reality they're just suffering and trying their best. I'm really glad to hear that the dev is doing so well now, and I'm sure that gives a lot of hope to people as this becomes more popular.
I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Thank you Absurd Walls for sharing your journey with others in this creative format.
I had a period in college where i went manic too. This game helped me remember those times in a not so lonesome light. Thank you. I was shown this game by a YouTube video recommended to me through my homepage. I saw it was free and had to try it. I have not finished as I got busy but it's on my near list of things to do and I will update the review after i complete it. I wanted to get this out before it potentially became a sea of reviews. You are not alone. Some have their episode after college and it crumbles their career. Others get the luxury of snapping early. I won't turn off your VPN but I am going to follow you. And your journey. I will also extend my friendship if you want it. The game is beautiful and the style is minimal abut sleek. I really felt what you went through, how you needed to say things but then when you tried to say them, you said the other thing that serves them but not you. I wish there was illustrations. Even if its a simple line drawing each time I click space. Something to look at/expect/resonate with. Maybe just an item from each of the memories so i may continue using my imagination. Beautiful Minds aren't Normal.
It is clear that this game meant a lot to the developer and it really shines through. It's a very touching and personal story, and well worth the hour it takes to play.
Profound and personal.
Of Moons and Mania, by no surprise from a creator who speaks from their own experience, captures the journey and feeling of fighting mental illness and the failures of our society to be able to really help. I saw a lot of similarities to my own journey in life and battles with mental illness. It's very therapeutic to be able to feel for a moment, through the connection of a game, a shared feeling of a war against ones own mental health. Thank you for sharing your personal story through this beautiful work.
