About
Oaths of Light is an adventure game inspired by modern and classic JRPGs, with a battle system mixing real-time and turn-based, choice and consequences systems, in a story-rich fantasy world.
The battle system is inspired by JRPG classics: turn-based battles with ordered turns and a twist. You have a five-second window during your turn to move, attack, use items, or cast skills. You can defend against enemy attacks by timing your blocks correctly, as long as the attacks are not from behind making positioning important.
The world of Oaths of Light is a colorful and vibrant fantasy one, but also full of magic and mysteries. Accompany Eden as she embarks on a journey to the capital to participate in the ceremonies of the Oaths of Light. Many events will occur prior and following this journey that will changer her forever.
Throughout your journey, there will be occasions where you must make choices that will directly influence the storyline.

Oaths of Light is set in Meadran. A world still recovering from a recent war that opposed the kingdom of Meadran and the Elmeians, people of the forest. At the heart of this conflict: Magic. In fact, a new usage for magic as a source of energy was discovered. And both sides fearing what a bad usage of such power could lead to started a race for power until an armed conflict happened.
Our story takes place eleven years after the war ended. Scars from it are still fresh, and the winners, the Kingdom of Meadran, have established rules and strict control for the use of magic.
Everything begins at Reimber Village, the peaceful home of our main character.
A troubling repetitive dream, people disappearing, a mysterious stranger, and an unexpected journey to the kingdom's capital. This is how Eden's adventure begins.

Reviews
Oaths of Light is an amazing game! I truly enjoyed my time in playing on stream! The developer is very receptive to feedback and even took the time to hang out in a 5 hour and 3 hour stream respectively in order to gather feedback - much of which was implemented almost the day after (petting a horse, some camera fixes) as well as other bug fixes that are in the works (text fixes, better audio balancing). The game adopts an amazing "your choices actually do matter" approach, as opposed to the illusion of choice many other "choice" games have. From things such as
having a different fight depending on if you did or didn't free something
,
NPCs being captured if you don't fight the correct enemy
to even
those NPCs being killed irrevocably if you don't succeed in specific combat fights.
There are absolutely things to improve, many of which the developer has confirmed are upcoming in the roadmap though minor adjustments such as the UI feeling a little clunky and difficult to navigate, not in terms of difficulty but more visibly. Once Chapter 1 is polished up, I could definitely see this game doing well as a Crowd-funded effort to make it even better! Overall though, it's definitely worth the price on Steam even if I did receive it for free. I've received a lot of games for free in my time, and most times I'd play for the allotted time on stream to fulfil the requirements and then never touch it again but with Oaths of Light I was completely hooked to the point I'm currently achievement hunting, so I would absolutely buy the game had I needed to.
Charming game, with a nice blend between turn based and active combat that keeps it engaging. kind of short but it is only the first chapter so keep in mind you will have to wait to finish more but still worth playing for sure.
Oaths of light is a charming turn based rpg, living out the hay days of rpg games not today slop of games. Story is pretty straight forward and unique in it own little way. Also fair few side quests to do which add some story and elements to npc / villagers. Combat is a solid formula, you have X amount of time to do your actions in, either swinging weapon, using special skills or items. Then enemy takes there turn and if you time it right you can block some of the incoming damage to reduce overall hitpoints you lose. Graphics are good and nice to look at, I am not one for all these realism like graphics I still rather bit of a cartoon tint to my video games. Overall it a fun game and worth a look at. A solid indie rpg game.
If you like old school JRPG with interesting gameplay/mecanics give it a go it's definitely worth it.
Interesting start, neat combat system.
This game criminally flew under the radar. Sure, it’s not GOTY material, but it oozes charm. The story is engaging, set in a medieval, magical world, with a surprising late-game twist that reshapes the atmosphere (no spoilers!). Exploration and combat are solid, reminiscent of old-school JRPGs. Choices matter, and key decisions let you follow your moral compass. Just give it a try, this game hooks you right from the start!
If you are a fan of old school Zelda, this may be up your alley. The combat has blocking mechanics and positioning strategy, making it pretty unique in the turn-based RPG category. Above all, you can tell it's a labor of love. It might not be perfect but it's fun for sure <3
Petit prix, dev solo, jeu polish !
