Not gonna lie this game turned out to be more fun than i originally thought it was going to be. I thought I was about to play a so bad its funny type game but ended up getting pulled in. the areas you and characters you interact with are all unique there's a welcomes level of difficulty to the combat and the story is fun. yes the game could be better in some areas but for what it is now it's enjoyable so i say give it a shot and look forward to the interesting ideas the creators have in store for future games

Wow, what a great game. Johnny said I was cool! It really made me feel like I was a powerful weatherweaver. Pros: Johnny Johnny told me I was cool Johnny is so dreamy Cons: I can't go in Johnny's bedroom Johnny wont talk to me anymore unless he has a purple ! over his head. Overall, I'd say this game is nearly perfect. Just wish I could go in Johnny's bedroom. I really want to know what kind of stuff he has in there. I bet he has boat shoes...

"Rite as Rain" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from UCF. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. This is a rather mediocre and uninspired 3D adventure game where you take on the role of a young anime girl witch and you have to stop some elements, which means wandering around and engaging in some unengaging turn based combat. There's an overwhelming amount of mediocre Visual Novel/E-book style cutscenes in this game. The developers failed one of the most basic, fundamental requirements of game design.. "Show, don't tell." So you'll spend a huge amount of time not playing the game, but clicking through endless lines of poorly written VN text cutscenes because the developers couldn't work out how to relate their narrative through the game mechanics, and decided instead it would be better to compete with reading a book for your time. We're here to play games, not read through hours of garbage intersituals. Your gaming rig is not a Kindle. The graphics aren't great, fairly low quality assets with poor textures, low poly counts... I've seen a million times worse on Steam, but they're not great. That's understandably a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. It would be unethical for students to try charge money for their homework assignments, so you don't have to pay any money for this. But you'd still have to spend your time downloading this, and "time is money", as they say. There's the other problem, too... as a student project, this wasn't made for gamers. There's no requirement for them to polish and balance the game properly, all they need is something to show the faculty so they can get their grade and move on. Let's once more ask... why is that good for gamers? It's obviously not delivering a solid product. Yet here it is, on the store page, and here you are, reading my review for a student demo that's going to waste your time. While genuine amateur developers who made real products get ignored because they have to compete with this stuff. In some ways, this deluge of student projects on Steam is harmful to everyone. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. This isn't a complete game for gamers, and since it offers no profile benefits like a game collector badge, so I can't recommend adding it to your library.
