I got this game when it was in early access a few years ago and used to originally to learn and test it out before a trip to Germany. It was a buggy mess then but I excused it because it was new and still labelled early acess. I came back to the game a few years now they added Russian which was the language I was waiting to be released. In a lot of ways it's even more of a buggy mess, a lot of mispronunciations/typos of basic words, for example розовый (roh-zoh-vy) pronounced as (roh-zoh-lee) and marks you wrong for saying it correctly, sometimes game freezes, or things can't be interacted with, character gets stuck in the sky randomly and have to hard reset game, voice recognition fails often, and even got rid of some features I like, like being able to practice verbs at your base. There are several achievements that haven't been fixed and wont trigger and devs completely abandoned their roadmap of feature, and languages they were going to add and bugs to fix and completely ignore any questions about the games development on discord and discussion now. They raised so much hype and attention for this game just to abandon it to work on other projects. I really liked this idea and concept and I really hope another game like this comes along that's actually worth while because I've lost hope for this game ever being finished.
This game is a buggy scam. I picked it up to learn better Spanish. For one thing: It doesn't pronounce the words correctly. For another: It doesn't assign the words correctly. For example "Sandwich" is "El Sandwich" as opposed to Bocadillo, etc. On top of that "1000+ words" sounds like a lot, but a dog has a vocabulary of about 500 words. Also starting some of the minigames, they stopped working. The speech recognition server doesn't work half the time. All in all, you won't learn any languages using this app, at most, you'll learn a few basic words you could've learned just from regularly visiting the supermarket and reading the labels. It's a waste of time and money. Wish I hadn't bought it.
Everything is fine except I can’t get my voice to be recognized (audio recognition issues) that’s a pretty big factor of the whole experience. Can’t get a refund so unless I can get it to work, this rating will stay.
Constant problems with contacting server for speech recognition and when trying to fix possible mic problems the in-game VR view would go really low, trying to recenter didn't work forcing me to restart the game to try again. When starting up the game it asks what language i speak and what language i want to learn, once I chose the languages i was asked if i wanted to see how the game works, having already restarted multiple times I clicked skip to get to the mic check faster. This however didn't work, it instead sent me back to the language select and only progressed* after i agree to do the tutorial again. *(If this happens then the prompt windows stop working so after picking up the dog you are soft locked because the next step is grabbing the base of the prompt window which doesnt exist so im forced to restart again.)
I really like noun town, i like where the idea came from and i like where they are taking the game for the future. i dont have alot of time in the game BUT for the time i have spent in the game it was really fun and would definitely recommend gettin it
Jogo pra aprender ingles mas não muda muito de um google translate da vida, ótimo pra ter uma alternativa de estudo mas ele não vai ajudar muito se o teu foco é aprender só utilizando ele. compensa só se pegar em uma promo muito boa, não curti não.
why i must pay double for non-vr version?
I love this game, the devs put a lot of efforts into it and it shows, it's super fun and useful to learn a good amount of vocabulary!
welp, i'd love to give this one a positive review, but I can't it won't even let me play says "requires internet connection to play" but it is connected, im wired to the internet with a gig of internet on my PC. So, can't recommend this one.
everything was pretty fun but the voice input never worked, it would not pick up my voice at all despite fiddling with settings. unfortunately that ruined the entire experience for me so until its fixed i cant recommend it despite it being such a good idea overall.
