Nice idea, horrible execution. When I downloaded this, I was under the impression that you, the player, would be able to explore at their own pace. After some troubleshooting on launching the program, you load into Notre Dame and I figure let's try moving. No luck. As I move to grab my keyboard real quick, I notice the scene changed, and that is when I realize that it was a autotour of sort. Each "scene" only gives you about a minute to look around at the spot before it moves on to the next. The first few spots were inside the building, but after that, it was all outdoors with no opportunity to select spots whatsoever. What i had in mind would be something similar to Valve The Lab "Postcards" experience. If you were looking for something like that, I would not waste your time until Ubisoft decides to update the program, and enable you walk/select spots freely and at your own pace. Also, the textures could be better as well. TL:DR: Skip until Ubisoft allows you to walk freely.
Idea is great but it looks like made for mobile phones with very bad graphics. Looks like Elder scroll Oblivion kind of graphics that spoils the fun but the Idea and the buildings look very nice. There should have been a graphics option menu with lot of controls. I am using a reverb and I had to crank sampling all they way to 3800 to get decent looking structures without pixels and the textures were blurred out completely. But I surely feel All UB soft games should support VR. Wild lands, break point Watch dogs and Division in VR will be really nice with controller joystick and keyboard support. will be a awesome sit through experience
Experienced on the Oculus Rift
This is a 6 minute long, purely cinematic experience in VR. Game is running on the Unity Engine. Motion controllers are not used. It is all gaze-based navigation. You can select different view points of Paris, France. The views are magnificent in VR for the most part. Although the water and objects in the distance, such as trees, look very low resolution / low textures. I have no idea why this is called Notre-Dame de Paris: Journey Back In Time. It's a misleading title. It should be named, "We at Ubisoft made a proof of concept demo for porting AC Unity to VR and wow it looks amazing, but we won't be making that game anytime soon or ever." Instead Ubisoft is making Far Cry 3 VR for a VR arcade. They apparently spent the rest of their VR budget on Transference, Eagle Eye, and Space Junkies (although Star Trek Bridge Crew and Werewolves Within were both awesome and should have sold better). Anyways, Ubisoft, just fire all your VR management team and hire me. I will make better decisions to make your VR titles much more successful. Starting with making VR: Unity (or preferably Black Flag) into proper VR titles and moving Far Cry 3 VR into Steam as soon as possible. Oops, I just gave you all some valuable free advice. Rate 6/10. Shows how great AC Unity in VR would look like. Get the combat / platforming to feel good using motion controllers and you'd have people throwing money at you Ubisoft!
Such a misleading description and pictures uploaded! The tour we are promised is very short and we are in a static position not only unable to move but to look around. After a while we are teleported to another area - once again unable to move. Sometimes, half the picture is blocked by a wall in front of us. I can't imagine how this experience can be different in VR. Also, on the rare occasion when we see NPCs they are somewhat pixelated (antialiasing would help but there are no graphics options just to start the game). And the ending with a balloon which is the first dynamic scenario we still can't look around but boy how ugly Paris is with its low-quality rivers! This is not how I remember the Unity engine. Honestly, this could have been so much better. If 5,000 hours were actually put into the making of this then why not allow us to free roam within the walls of the cathedral? We don't have to see every room just the main area - the rest can be removed or access to those sections blocked. Whilst I appreciate the effort I expected much, much more from a Ubisoft title especially how they included the touring option starting with AC Origins.
For FREE it's a neat experience BUT it has no options to adjust, can't walk around with joystick or teleport (I have a 2.5~m X 3~m play space and I could not reach some edges to look down) , no snap turn (just head turning), everything is really low poly and no AA.
Might be much better in VR but without sucks ..i mean you just some pictures that move randomly ..nobody even talks like it was showed in trailers...the only reason i added this was because i really love the architecture of Notre Dame and i wanted to see it..but in my opinion is way more worthy to get some money and go visit ..also the one thing that matter thanks to this architectures are able to rebuild the Notre-Dame after the fire ...without might had been very hard or even impossible so thanks to Ubisoft for create this and also one of the best game from Assassin's Creed franchise ...AC Unity that was also builded at a 1:1 scale of Notre-Dame !

Ubisoft’s free release of the mock-up they built of the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris for Assassin’s Creed: Unity. Made free as tribute to the cathedral as it was before the fire in 2019. Decent, though I may have missed a VR-only tag.
Unbelievably bad, to the point of me wondering why they even spent the 2 hours to make this "experience" a reality. There are no controls. You just look around at some random points the game automatically teleports you around. No moving around, no inspecting details up close. There is no text to read about the history of the place or any of its parts, or anything at all. The graphics are so bad here it is mind bogging. It was definitely much better in Assassin's Creed Unity than it is here, even ignoring the crusty render scale here that cannot be changed. They had a perfectly good model already made for AC Unity years ago, and then they just compressed that into 2 pixels and put it out for free. It's just a waste of time.
