How do you keep a demon lord away? Exorcise regularly.

Story:
For over a century, the world has been at peace. Demonkind and humankind have co-existed in peace. Suddenly, the Demon Lord declared war and began a full assault on humanity. All anyone could do was fight to survive. The question still remains: Why did the Demon Lord attack? Leena and her friends are the ones who have to defend the All-Girls school of Magic.
Game Mechanic:
By placing Leena and her friends on some sort of chess board grid, the battles commence. Wave after wave and each level and map is getting progressively harder. With different monsters, demons and animals trying to infiltrate the school. Leena and friends can be leveled up unlocking more HP and DPS. On a later map, some grid parts are marked with an X, meaning you can not place any characters there. This means you need to start thinking very tactically. At times, you figure out what to do with a level, after losing a couple of times and restarting. You unlock all kinds of other tools to help you win the battles as well, like a barrier, spikes, aerial defense, bufie DPS booster and even portals. All tools can be upgraded as well, making them even more powerful. The game does warn in what row the waves will be coming from the upcoming round by using an arrow at the end of the row. So placing your characters strategically is very important, making it also a challenge to save up some money, in order to defend yourself in the next round. This is probably the reason why this game requires a lot of retrying levels. Some creatures drop random loot that give you extra gold, which you can use to upgrade your troops. A fast way to pick up loot that is dropped by monsters is by hoovering over it with your mousepointer. Another handy feature is that you can change the combat speed x2.
Different Characters:
- Leena the MC of the story. You can only place one on the board. - Warriors will unleash sword attacks in the form of a wave slash that can hit 3 lanes. They have medium DPS but high HP. - Strikers will attack anything up to 2 cells away from them. Very high DPS but low HP. - Clerics will heal anything one cell to their right and themselves. Place them behind your melee DPS for the best results. - Casters have an infinite range in one row. Put them far back and level these up for high DPS output. - Archers arrows have high DPS AoE in one row, but have limited range.
Different Tools:
- The barriers block enemies from progressing. - Spikes gradually damages enemies that walk over this. - Bufie increases adjacent units attack by 50%. - Pellet rapid anti-air shooter. You need these for aerial attacks. - Portal, diverts enemies to another row. And many more.
Graphics and Sound:
The visual novel part of the game has decent graphics with mediocre characters. The face structures, eyebrows and facial expressions of the characters are very similar. Making the visual novel part of this game a tad boring and the least appealing part of the game. The developer created a skip button for your convenience. The tower defense part of the game has pretty basic graphics which remind me of the golden 16-bit games, combined with the retro music and sound effects making this the best feature.
Bugs and annoyances:
- Encountered a rare bug where placing a warrior and cleric resulted in one monster not being hit by the warrior, creating an infinite loop of combat. Unable to access the menu during combat, the only solution was to use ALT+F4 to exit the game (this has been fixed) - Steam overlay button was ineffective for taking screenshots. - Frustration arose when unable to adjust the game speed to x2 during the last wave of a level or during an aerial wave. This limitation feels unnecessary, hindering replayability after completing a level once. - Post-combat, the upgrade phase lacks information on unit health, making it challenging to assess whether to replace a low-health barrier. Hoping for a future implementation of this feature. Anticipated features for the future: - Incorporation of increased speeds - Accessibility to menus during the combat phase - Display of a health bar for units - Ability for players to revisit the story after completing combat
Verdict:
A enjoyable tower defense game with a distinctive incorporation of Visual Novel elements. I strongly recommend it for tower defense enthusiasts. It provided me with enjoyable evenings as I devised creative strategies to conquer various waves and levels. However, if you're not particularly interested in tower defense, the Visual Novel aspect is a minor component and can't be skipped. ══════ .❥. ═══════════════════
"Early Access Update 1: A Promising Step Forward in Balancing Gameplay"
As an avid player eagerly diving into the realms of this promising game, the recent early access update brings about a wave of fine-tuning that hints at even grander things to come. Thought this looks like Plants vs. Zombies with Visual Novel Style Game and yeah its pretty much that^^ So the Gameplay is a bit different than PvZ. You have more Waves of Enemies with Time between them to "Upgrade" and place new Characters. the stages are like in Vampire Survivors were you can pick a stage and play them again and again, you also collect Gems and these are for the owerworld shop. Achievements are pretty straightforward and easy. there is also a difficulty you can select on the "options" menu but i dont know how difficult and if we can get more rewards with higher difficulty? i just played on the standart one.
EA TD + cute + challenging = A fast paced and fun anime TD. Place a variety of girls (towers) in each lance. Upgrade as you get more gold and prevent monsters from reaching the end. The keyboard controls are atrocious, and unfortunately cannot be changed. Tower defense in general is kind of dull - there's very little to the game besides many levels of tower defense.
Playthrough here: https://youtu.be/0Ugl0han4gw Overall it's enjoyable for the price the game does drag a bit towards the end when you have mostly everything figured out there's a few too many stages or waves it felt like. The creators did a great job adding difficulty to what seems to be a simple tower defense the portal mechanic added a good bit of flavor. The UI was a bit clunky, though the keys swip swapping around as you went from the prep phase to the battle phase I believe enter is start the wave on prep phase, but in the battle phase it's pause why not just have escape be pause in both phases the configuration was killing me. I also couldn't find a way to use items during prep phase which is kind of frustrating, because if you were redoing a map you could set up your whole prep phase to figure out in the combat phase you may have just ran out of an item you wanted for the map. The game ends on a cliff hanger and it feels that a lot doesn't get resolved for how long the game is, but the story's solid.
KAAAAAAAME HUUUUUUUNGRY HAAAAAAA! Amazing title! Unusually long, too. Only Tower Defense-ish, however, more of an army deployment game, much to my delight. I've not managed to do my usual Tower Defense arrangement, which is Max Level towers, mainly because with the resources I've managed to gather, I suspect I was nowhere near said level on any tower. There's more strategy involved as well, since the map grid is not fully available at the start of a stage, unlocking as you progress. Have at least one pellet / missile launcher at all times, aerial enemies may sneak up on you. Amazing art, funny story. Gameplay is entertaining as well, though I'm surprised the E key on my keyboard still works. Deploy your "towers", magic wielders!
Game is baby easy until the Magiland Center level which appears to be impossible
🌌 Storyline: "Notice Me Leena-senpai!" takes you on a quirky magical mini-journey where logic in the face of dessert does not matter. Leena and her pals at the All-Girls School of Magic run around slapping demons/monsters with pixel weapons and the plot thickens like vanilla custard - suddenly. It's silly, it's goofy, and it's filled with crises about tasty treats. The game should come with a label. WARNING: May induce a craving for candy. 🎮 Gameplay: This is a fun variation on class grid-based tower defense and strategy, a la PvZ but with more cute girls. There are apparently over 20 types of towers (I did not count, but that sounds about right), so you've got plenty of game-play choices but I never felt overwhelmed. You can beat levels with a lot of different comps, so you're not getting forced into one meta build in order to win. The difficulty is challenging enough to keep you on your toes (I definitely didn't have to re-do the bridge map like 5 or 6 times because I forgot about the lane swap), but not so hard that you want to throw your mouse and keyboard at the wall. I'm a professional keyboard flipper, so I would know. On a scale of "I loved Desktop Tower Defense and Plant vs Zombies and Bloons, but not games that force tower placement," this game is a love. 👾 Graphics & Art: The pixel art in this game is surprisingly good, especially with the limited pixel count. You can easily differentiate the characters from one another and their attacks also have surprising clarity given their limited size. The characters can be quite silly but that makes them adorable and I took more of a liking to their antics then I thought I would. It's boldly colored and doesn't shy from big bows. If you enjoy ridiculous high school anime style where the main character is a girl with a big sword, then smash that buy button. ✨ Abilities & Spells: The pixel spell casting and attack animation are pretty smooth and satisfying. Watching your little pixel girls attacks blobs is strangely relaxing. There are main character towers that you can only put down one of which use a classic super powerful attack. You can of course upgrade towers and sell them at a loss if you need to re-strategize. My favorite tower is defensive and throws a keyboard. Yes, it's a keyboard. 🤔The Big Question: "Has the Demon Lord noticed Leena and her friends yet?" I have no idea, I'm not there yet and I think the game isn't either, but even if he does notice us, WE WILL DESTROY HIM. With snax. 💬 Verdict: "Notice Me Leena-senpai!" delivers a slice of strategy, a helping of charm, and a sprinkle of magical school drama featuring demons. It's an adorable, strategic, demon-slaying, bubble-tastic adventure. So, get ready to cast some spells, throw up some towers, and maybe, if you're really lucky, just maybe, get noticed by Leena-senpai. 🌟🌟🌟🌟✨ *pew* WAIT?!? Maybe the Demon Lord has a crush on Leena?! I'll update as I found out more!
This game has beautiful sprite work! I am blown away by the skill put into the art, this game looks amazing.
