this is not a free game, it's a falsely advertised demo with most of the content nickel & dimed as dlc. click play, there's one icon with the 20 free levels and 30 that lead to the store page to buy 600 more in packs of 20. disgusting. it's not a particularly good nonogram anyway, the same as the dev's gizmo series, has a mistake counter and everything, yet it's one of the most expensive on steam, currently sitting at $30 (THIRTY!). but hey, it's only $1 per dlc, that's almost free, right? the gizmo nonograms cost $5 each and some have a demo with the same amount of levels as this demo, but those aren't advertised as free games with endless dlc. and the worst part is, the developer made one of my favorite word games (amazing pyramids) before turning into this greedy, scummy entity. his paint by numbers activity software (those aren't games) is also 'free' if you have $100 for all the dlc. a bargain.
My Playtime: 29.2h (100% achievements, finished Chapter 0) Grindy Achievement(s): No (1 achievement requires you to AFK for 20h). Optional Achievement(s): Yes (12 achievements). Difficult Achievement(s): No.
Intro
Nonograms is a Nonogram game. The free content offers one chapter, which contains 20 puzzles ranging from 10x10 to 35x35. Pros: - Challenging puzzles, some can be hard to finish without guessing - A lot of power-ups for those who don't mind making mistakes Cons: - No option to disable mistake detection Specs Intel Core i5-9300H 2.40GHz, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
Should you play this game?
Yes. If you enjoy playing Nonograms, I suggest you play it, but only if you don't mind the game detecting the mistakes for you.

In-Depth Review

Visuals
The game uses steampunk-themed visuals with some customizations. You can change the grid color, which helped because the default color was so colorful and confusing to see. You can also change the background image, although I still think the default one is okay. The UI is pretty intuitive and can be easily gotten used to even without text.
The Game
Gameplay Nonograms is a... Nonogram game. Each level will show you a tiled square with a bunch of numbers as a hint, and you need to color the tiles based on the given hint. Once you finish it, the game will show the 2D image that the object in the puzzle is based on. The game has 20 puzzles, ranging from 10x10 to 35x35. You can choose to play any level that you want from the beginning. However, you need to purchase the DLCs if you want to play other-level packs. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3417590220 The game has some power-ups. To be honest, I'm not sure what they do except for lives. The game will let you know if you made any mistakes and reduce your life based on the number of mistakes you made. I don't like that the game tells me that I made a mistake. I want to figure out the mistake on my own and adjust it accordingly once I found out. However, the game only has an option to remove the lives altogether, while still letting you know that you made a mistake in that mode. I hated it so much that I restart the puzzle whenever I made a mistake. Length and Difficulty I finished all 20 levels in 11.1h. I then left the game run to get the achievement of playing for 20h in this game. Some levels can be challenging, to the point that I sometimes think that I need to guess to finish it, which turns out to be false after I finish it on my own.
Conclusion
Despite not having the option to disable you from detecting mistakes, Nonograms is actually fun. There are a lot of puzzles for you to play, with some able to give you a challenge to solve. If you like Nonograms, I don't see why you shouldn't play it, especially if you don't mind the automatic mistake detection.

As far as Nonogram games go this isn't very good. There's no way to mark spaces and any mistake is penalized against you, even incorrectly marking a filled square as unfilled is a strike. Not to mention the price you're paying isn't worth the value of what you're getting. 50 pieces of DLC most of them containing 20 puzzles for $1, meanwhile on the Nintendo Switch Picross 1 by itself for $8 gives you over 300 puzzles, with further installations to the series costing at most $2 more for even more puzzles. To put it bluntly, don't bother with this.
*This game may trigger trypophobia. The free part of the game only covers "chapter zero" which has 20 levels and took me about 3 and a half hours. For the rest of the game you need to buy DLC. According to the store page there are 50 DLC at over $1 each. Which makes this (at least) a $50 game if you want more than the first 20 levels. It's definitely not worth that. It's hard to pinpoint why I didn't enjoy this game very much, but I just didn't. - I had to play in monochrome because the coloured squares were kind of confusing me. - I used my system cursor rather than the game's cursor, and still misclicked rather a lot. - The "images" you create with the nonograms aren't really very satisfying. - Everytime you finish a level it shows you the leaderboard. Maybe there are people who enjoy playing nonograms competitively, but for me it was just another mild annoyance. - Apparently you can get all achievements without the DLC, which I will be trying out.
It's AI slop, sadly. Which is a real shame, because I love picross/nonograms and I think the dev brought some cool ideas to the table for how it's played. Generally, the gameplay is fine (assuming you do the monochrome lol) but your reward is looking at some weird AI art in the end and like, yeah no, I won't be willingly paying for that. :p So sadly no DLC for me. It's a shame, because had this been real art, I could see myself buying ALL the DLC since I'm an addict to these sorts of games. The AI is also supposed to be disclosed in the Steam description and isn't. Shame. Shaaaaame.
Recently re-downloaded the game, and now I see why I never bothered to play it anymore. You only get one chapter. Everything else requires money. Which kills the game entirely, unless you want to support the devs. Which is fine, but for what it's worth(free), this doesn't scratch the itch for Nonograms. Very limited. There's better free options out there on steam.
Good puzzles.
While a lot of people complain about the DLC costing money, I didn't mind that so much. The base game is free; you do get 20 free puzzles. Some of which are large and difficult. I greatly enjoy nonograms, so this game filled the void but, man, there's something about the UI I can't get past. I screw up on almost every puzzle (and you are dinged for such). Can't say it's the game; just that I don't do that on other nonogram games. Still, have to give it a thumbs up because the challenge/content is there.
Divertido jogo de nonograma. A demonstração gratuita oferece uma boa quantidade de jogabilidade. Muitos módulos DLC para comprar se você gosta do jogo. Nenhuma história boba para percorrer, apenas direto para os jogos.
