About
No Path Forward is a first-person psychological-horror story set in a small mountain village. This game serves to be symbolic of mental health struggles the developer has gone through leading to how he found his faith in Jesus.
The anxieties of life have been weighing you down. You decide to listen to your coworker's advice and take a solo, overnight hiking trip through a part of the mountains you haven't been to before. What could go wrong? Surely your mind will slow down once you're exposed to beautiful mother nature. Here's the plan:
Get to the trailer home. All you know is that you need to find a trailer home to stay in for the night. Not just any trailer home, but the one your coworker's uncle owns. The trailer home that you have no pictures or details of. As long as you were on pace during your hike, you should arrive before the sun sets.

Figure out what's off. As you make your way, something feels wrong about this place. You can't put your finger on it, but something is not right. Uncover the truth by thinking harder, talking with locals, and exploring the area.

Take a break. Finally.. Take a rest for the night in the comfort of the trailer -- a place for you to recharge, recoup, and destress before your next big day of hiking.
Make it out. All you really want to do is get through the night, so that you can continue on with your hike in the morning. Stay the night, wake up, and continue on the hike. Simple as that. But what if there's other plans in store for you?

Not exactly what I expected, I would advise not reading the store description, the reviews, or the dev's note in the menu until you finish the game, I feel like they spoil the ending and the overall premise of the narrative, which frankly is the most interesting part of the game, not knowing exactly where it's going. It certainly feels like a horror game, but contextually the game has another direction, so I will leave it at that. It's about 60 minutes, mostly a walking-sim experience that focuses on the atmosphere and a sense of dread. There is a time management mechanic which you can interact with by consuming certain items, giving you more time to play the game, or reduce anxiety which can kill you if it gets to a certain point. I would not worry too much about the whole resource thing, the game is relatively small with a few fetch-quest puzzles, you can easily finish it in a few attempts, and you can save at certain points as well. Some events/choices can increase your anxiety, but I never really felt like it was difficult to manage and it's unlikely to die intentionally, just don't drink the beer over and over and you should be fine. There were a few optional locations for extra resources, even though you don't really need them, the whole system does not make a huge impact as you only have to backtrack a few times. Other than that, the game was not very flashy and there were not many highlights, horror or otherwise, maybe with a few interesting moments toward the end. The retro texture and the immersion were good overall, had some uncanny feel to the models and the characters. The music could have been a little better, some of the loops were too short, for example one at the very end.
Pros:
(+) The atmosphere and that sense of dread were handled decently, also has good use of retro texture/modeling (+) I thought the story had an interesting idea, not amazing, but at least something different
Feedback:
- you had some optional achievements/dialogue but I think you should try to reward exploration a bit more, there were a lot of places where I went, and there was not much to find (Update: dev added more content to address that) - it feels like the game maybe could have used a bit more optional dialogue, maybe if you place a few more characters around the edges if the player ends up exploring more, as well as having something for the characters inside the c____ for example - maybe a hint for how to select items in the inventory tab, also it's confusing that items don't go away completely like the granola bar, if I don't want it, why I still have it Overall Thoughts: 6/10 I feel like the most interesting part of the game got spoiled for me, perhaps you should avoid the mention of _____ in the description and note, and the reviews also mentioned it so. Otherwise the game was just fine, I don't have any strong feelings one way or another, the visuals were okay, the vibes were decently handled, but it didn't have those huge stand out moments for me, maybe except that one part that got spoiled. This was a nice short game about someone finding their faith. I do hope for more to be added like possibly showing the difficulty of keeping ones faith. or even having pathways that could lead you astray. I hope for the best. Also amazing dev <3
Not too bad of a game definitely challenging though as it took me bit to understand the mechanics of the game and the story is interesting. The mechanics of the game are unique though by eating granola to lower your anxiety but don't drink beer since it will make it go down faster I would only use it in a pinch. The game is nicely designed too and I don't really have any complaints. The whole game revolves around anxiety and finding faith all while being a challenging walking sim. Might not be for everyone but I did enjoy it https://youtu.be/-D_uIk8Wh94
The game is pretty welcoming and heavily atmospheric with rainy woods and smooth low poly graphics (+1), the story itself is about
God/faith
which I can respect even tho its really not my cup of tea, BUT it is well done and at the end explained by the developer himself. Short but great experience! 8/10
I wish there was another way to deal with the bear, I felt bad for spraying him
Extra points to the developer for reaching out to me, when I encountered some issues with the game! Very kind!
short and sweet though i wish there were multiple endings depicting how you could possibly stray away from god or potentially how no matter how much bad you have done that jesus will always love you. and maybe some more character dialogue.
this game was solid. i've never been a religious guy but this game had a good story and i enjoyed it. can't wait to see what's next! ˙𐃷˙
This was a great game with great atmosphere! Fun fact, I found this when the creator left a comment on a video about sharing the gospel in Japan through games :) I will say, use the trailers for navigation in the park (esp. the green one with a yard), and stay away from the bear . . . that definitely makes things a lot easier!
