Nippon Marathon 2: Daijoubu

Ah, what can I say about Nippon Marathon? This game has been a staple of my game nights ever since the first game was released. It was one of those oddities that I thought was so awkward on first view, that I had to pick it up, and then history was made with my family and friends. We all enjoyed this game so much, we all dressed up as characters from the game for Halloween. We hand-made our costumes (yes, we have pictures for proof). So, needless to say, this game means a lot to us. Enter Nippon Marathon 2. I didn't even know this was coming out (I never expected a sequel for Nippon Marathon, I didn't even know it was that popular), until the beginning of April 2026, so you can see my excitement. I haven't played much of NM2 yet, but I don't need to in order to give this a solid recommendation. I've only played one map, and messed with the character creation tool, and the game is exactly what I was hoping for. The same great fun, just with a new polish to it. If I could give any negatives, I'd say the amount of content included in this is a bit too slim for what I expected. But, that's not really a negative at all considering it's in Early Access. What IS here though, is fantastic so far. I'm looking forward to the coming days with new content releasing for it, and definitely awaiting the final product. Also, I'm hoping they bring back bowling again, along with L.O.B.S.T.E.R. They were so fun to play with a group of people. Bottom line, kudos Onion Soup Interactive for concocting yet another masterpiece. Looking forward to the final product!

After playing the original game until my fingers were sore, I can safely say this is a [b]massive step[/b] in the right direction. The graphical overhaul is immediately noticeable, giving our beloved, eccentric characters a more refined look and breathing fresh life into the chaotic stages. As for the gameplay, it follows the golden rule: [i]"If it ain't broke, don't fix it,"[/i] which fits this sequel perfectly. However, being in Early Access, the game does feel a bit barebones at the moment. With only three stages and four playable characters, the content is somewhat limited; unless you have three friends ready for local co-op or you're looking to dive into the new Character Creator. While the customization options are still a little thin, it’s a very welcome addition and one the community has been vocal about for a long time. Personally, I’d love to see a feature to upload a .png of a friend's face; imagine the fun of running the marathon with your actual inner circle! Ultimately, this review is a vote of confidence. I’m certain the game will be fleshed out with more characters, stages, and modes in the coming months. The developers have endured plenty of ups and downs to bring us this iteration; including a Kickstarter that unfortunately missed its mark, making the existence of Nippon Marathon 2 a true underdog triumph. I truly hope it gets the recognition it deserves and finds a home with players who miss those high-energy local multiplayer gems.

Game has just come out to EA (yay) - if you love some funny commentary and screwing over your friends while running a marathon I give it a solid 10/10 in that regard <3 Maps that have been released so far are enjoyable to play through.

I'd been playing quite a bit of the demo for this sequel to Nippon Marathon, so I bought it without hesitation. I think it's a significant improvement, while still retaining the charm of the first game. The character creator, modern graphics, and photo mode are standouts. Even so, I felt a bit disappointed with the initial content in this Early Access release, as I found it somewhat lacking, with only three maps, two more than the demo, and no glimpse of the other features. My overall impression is positive, as I understand it's Early Access, and I certainly want it to continue being developed, with everything that was promised, which is a considerable amount of things. The demo is still available, I recommend giving it a try, since it’s a really fun game. [h1]アーリーアクセスでも大丈夫なら買ってもDAIJOUBU[/h1] 破天荒かつ勘違いニッポンを体現したニッポンマラソンまさかの続編。 キックスターター失敗でも挫けず、約8年の時を経て甦るその様はまさしくDAIJOUBU。 現時点ではシンプルな対戦モードのみが実装だが、相変わらずのバカバカしい演出には磨きが掛かっている。 開発が進むのを待てるDAIJOUBUを期待できる人か、ニッポンマラソンでゲラ笑いした人は買って備えよう

This game is a big improvement over the first. its as fun as chaotic and will get better once we get online multipler. not the biggest fan of the character creator, would have wanted more characters and maps. if you love anime and was there during the cringe days this is a must play

Loved the first game, bought it on a whim and it became a go-to to play with friends. So far this game is basically the same thing with a few added features, new items, custom character, separate stats for npc characters, but it really is early access. so far only 3 levels via VS mode, and a tutorial. I hope they add a lot more to this game, and maybe online mode to play with overseas friends. probably wait a bit for updates before you buy. btw, try going into camera mode and flying around the levels the eastereggs are hilarious! shika noko kevin koshi tan tan

A peak behind the curtain of the sequel to the beloved first game.

The original Nippon Marathon is one of my favourite indies in recent times. It’s made with real heart and soul, full of personality, and unique in so many ways. I was very excited to hear that a sequel was coming, and even in early access, I’d recommend this to anyone as the starting point for their own Nippon adventure. It’s had a wonderful visual upgrade, and it feels slick and inventive once more. I’m really looking forward to seeing what’s achieved during this early access period. I know the developers have a lot planned, and I’m pleased to be able to watch it develop.

正統にハチャメチャな続編がきて嬉しい。ステージに元ネタがちゃんとあるのも良い 前作は音楽もとても良かったので期待してます
