Compelling story and great art. The standard gameplay is very reaction heavy and hard, but almost never feels unfair. They also have an easier story mode if desired. The platforming was engaging but always felt doable and exploration is actually fun, with a lot of places to be revisited. Solid 9/10
A mid Metroidvania but not bad, nothing much to say here as it has the same quality and problems has many other Metroidvania titles of this decade. Good combat, great aesthetic and tools to customize your journey. But way too easy, once you understand the parry you can one try almost any boss, areas are nice looking, but the exploration design is underwhelming, too much story forcing tons of dialogue. A good 12/20. You will have a good time completing this game but will probably not remember it a few weeks after you’re done with it.
战斗!爽!!!!!!
Playing Nine sols felt like playing dark souls again. Its a soulslike in the sense where the combat is as simple as it needs to be. A three strike combo isn't button mashing but a commitment which requires you to stick to the ground. You don't have to worry about contact damage or iframe because you will get none of those (except dash). You would get my appreciation for the game's mechanics once you experience getting ganked multiple times between environmental hazards. Parrying is hard to get right intuitively, which requires you to see every attack atleast once. Its focus on exploration is enough that you could find little secrets and rewards, but its not emphasised enough that every new skill obtained calls for backtracking, which I like personally. Each and every boss is thematically different which is very awesome. There is a lot of untapped potential in this game and I wish it was more bigger than it it. P.S. The bow will not help you beat the boss Edit: So how does bro somke the pipe when he's got no mouth?
(4 hours in, first impression) damn when they said this is 2d sekiro (idk who said that) they were right cuz you NEED to parry or your ass is getting pulverized (it's a fantastic game and the ost bangs)
love the combat andf boss so much!!!!!!
