Good but the word counter glitched :(...
It's a good software for little projects, but the lack of options to organize your files with efficiency makes it not suitable for bigger projects. The left panel is an interesting feature, but you can't even use folders. Or re-organize the files by moving them on the fly with the mouse, you must "right-click -> move up or down" for each chapter or files, and it's a enormous UI/QoL flaw for a software supposed to make writing easier. For instance, I had a chapter number error in the middle of a 31 chapters-list, and must made a dozen of "right-click -> move up/down" to reorganize it...
I enjoy using this software. It's easy to scale things to whatever size you'd like, it's very intuitive, and its export works great in my experience. Nimble Writer won't be to everyone's taste, but if you want something simple with a handful of well-chosen and meaningful features I recommend it.
It does what it says on the tin and surprisingly well even compared to options like Scrivener and Reedsy which have their advantages for a lot more money. If you have a big enough display or even multiples you aren't losing much by going with Nimble Writer and so far I am quite happy with it. Some other reviews of mentioned a lack of fonts but I seem to find all standard fonts in the customization menu, so its there if you look.
It's a good program but it has it's issues. One such issue I found was the program will sometimes NOT save the text notes along the side unless you save the document through the upper task bar icon versus the (would you like to save this document before you exit) option. It's only happened to me a couple of times now. I should mention that I have NOT encountered the problem where the main story has failed to save. I don't know if it's still happening to other people but It's never happened to me. Maybe they fixed it? Another issue I have is the daily word count. If you type a word but change your mind and replace it with another it counts as 2 in the daily count. Also everything you write in the notes doesn't get added to the daily count. I know it's not part of the main story but it's still writing and I would have liked it counted in the end. I think a menu option could improve this feature. Even with all of that said, I LOVE this program. I change the background image to something similar to the scene location that I'm working on. It helps me imagine the lighting and smells and feel of the air. It makes it easier to breath some real life into the story. With all the notes, profiles, and images on the side it's a solid little program that makes organizing my writing so much easier.
If you want a markdown editor, this is an okay one for longform work. I use it because I don't get distracted using it. There are many other options, but this one works for me. The note system is trash though. Use Obcidian for that.
I've written so many fanfics and short stories with this so I highly recommend this piece of software. It really helps you keep thing organize for your stories.

Thank you for helping me avoid the big players. X
Nimble Writer has a lot of great features that help me keep plots and characters inline with how I want them to be. I also like the Workshop additions you can add, these have helped me polish some story lines and character development. There are some features missing that other software have but I think the additional notes you can have for all sorts of things make this a better option. Also if you really need to use Word or other software you can export in that format and import it back into Nimble Writer. I would recommend this software to anybody who wants to write a book, TTRPG campaign or anything that needs a look of notes to keep aspects of your thoughts together.
