https://youtu.be/kzR_cmcvYuQ I played it. A great game. Good eerie fun.
not a fun game its pretty boring and all you do is switch channels and sit there all day until night. then its not really even spooky just some hands crawling everwhere.
I had a great time having a bad time. The clay figures used to populate the channels of your TV are at once goofy and vaguely unsettling... Not exactly scary on their own, but they make you feel like this whole world is just not quite right. The portraits in the room seem to suggest that you are just as bizarre as everyone else, but this doesn't eliminate that feeling that something is off. The gameplay is primarily going through different combinations of channels and antenna configurations. Your handy TV guide will show you information about any secrets you discover, but it is cryptic and vague, so there's also some riddle solving when you run into something that doesn't have an obvious answer. I wasn't expecting combat from this game, and I found it a bit annoying, but it did its job - it made me keep track of which combinations would unleash those pesky things so I could avoid them altogether. If I had any other complaints, they would be the ways this game kinda just doesn't match up with how I used to use a TV when I was young and that was still a thing. because certain channels can set off effects I very much wanted to avoid, I had to force myself to use the remote in a way that feels very wrong to me, but I suspect more and more people coming to this game will have no personal memories of analog television to muddy their perception of the proper way to channel surf. All said, this game gave me chills as I crept carefully around the airwaves in the null hours of a lonesome life. I highly recommend not just fans of this particular style of horror, but anyone curious about analog horror or short games.
Super+ weird = perfect
this is what i expected from i saw the tv glow very good
Neat
Awesome concept, very creepy, love the signals, noppers!:)
Good game but is really short at just under an hour. This game can get boring at times because of the reused and overused TV channels. Though if you get the game on sale in the Home safetly hotline bundle its completely worth it.
Bought this on sale as the aesthetic and idea seemed really interesting. The gameplay loop is pretty simple; watch TV shows during the day and cycle through channels at night, trying to survive the monsters. The day segment is fun for the first 3 nights. The shows were funny and played off of 60s TV tropes well. The last 2 (or 3? I lost count) days you don't get to watch anything so you're just watching static. The night portion starts off ok, you cycle through channels that have different effects. Some spawn enemies, and some give you status effects. The blurry screen one made me incredibly nauseous and is basically a death sentence if you flip to a channel with enemies accidentally. Finding 5 (I think) new channels on the last night is incredibly difficult and frustrating when you simply can't do anything but memorize all the channels. I was quite disappointed in this game. The look and atmosphere is amazing and the general idea isn't bad. However, the night gameplay is too clunky and frustrating and since that's the actual "game" part, I don't recommend. 5/10
Oof. Hate to give this game a don't recommend because it was clearly a high effort game (after reading the art book) and I have deep respect for the process. The atmosphere is creepy and I think it achieves a lot of what it's aiming for. Unfortunately, it was also incredibly buggy. I managed to get the menu stuck open at one point, and the game got deeply confused when I then managed to die. Couldn't restart, had to kill the process. Then, on completion, the end cut scene didn't play and I got stuck at a black screen and again had to kill the process. It's also a very short experience and I'd have trouble recommending it at full price even without the bugs.
