Breakfast in Boston的机会。 其次我给予这部视觉小说一部9分的评价——有柰子，有剧情，有意思——除了一小点bug和不够瑟情之外这家伙相当不错！ 在一切之前我必须要吐槽一下游戏的名字问题——明明是发生在美国的瑞典侦探故事，为毛叫新英格兰侦探啊！ 我还以为这是一个福尔摩斯大侦探的故事呢！ 当我看到典型的美剧私家侦探剧开局我以为是我打开错了游戏，不过这个剧情也完全可以接受！ 剧情的开端是酗酒的私家侦探在酒吧里接了一个大单，剧情内容包括寻找被绑架的富家滥交双胞胎，打击犯罪分子，和老情人撩骚，以及两场激烈的‘枪战’——大团圆结局，毫不喂屎！ 总体上来看，这是一部蛮有意思的侦探小说，它的内容包括了有故事的私家侦探，富家女，土豪家庭，犯罪分子和黑手党家族，吐槽和经典美式美女探长，一个非常专业的医生，一些典型的美式俚语和美式吐槽以及一个经典的床上大结局等等元素——而且价格也相当的便宜呢！ 但是我个人比较推荐对欧洲文化和美国文化之类的有兴趣和有一定了解的玩家来购买这款游戏——不太了解的玩家购买了可能有一些非常有特色和有意思的梗（比如说那个三明治梗或者瑞典人梗非常的有意思）无法理解而得不到笑点，但是如果玩家能够通过这个游戏了解一些经典笑话其实也蛮长知识的——假如说玩家了解这些前置的话，这部视觉侦探小说真是棒极了！ 当然了，我个人在此也愿意为各位看评测的游戏玩家指指通往女人心灵的道路——这是我作为一个评测家应该做的——记得要吃花生米哦！ 另外我去窥探了开发者界面，确实是有第二部续作计划的，而且按照进度来说，应该至少要有四部——早餐，午餐，晚餐，夜宵——如果说玩家支持踊跃的话，下一部应该不会很久吧？ ps：其实把瑟情内容标题去掉也不会影响剧情，可以的话希望官方多加几个玩儿法和cg剧情——而且明明剧情发生在美国，女性角色怎么没有拉美裔和黑人呢！ [quote]EASY GAME, EASY LIFE! 加入[url=https://steamcommunity.com/groups/YZYOUZ]优哉游哉[/url]，享受游戏吧! 关注我们的[url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/34646979/]鉴赏家[/url]，因为懂你，我们只推荐你想要的~[/quote]

I originally wrote a review for this game as part of the Steam Curator group "Anime Tiddies Connoisseur". And currently, if you go to that curator's statement of this game and click to see the full review, it links directly to a forum thread in which I wrote a review of this game back in 2019! But, just in case something ever happens to that forum thread (and also so I can more easily share that review with others), I've decided to repost that review here and now, with a couple of minor grammar edits. For those without time on their hands, though, here's the tl;dr: I would have preferred more character art, and it's debatable whether $5 USD for a 2-hour story is a fair price, but it's a decent investigation story that just barely passes the bar. ---- New England Detective: Breakfast in Boston is not a story about eating clam chowder right after waking up. Rather, it's a detective story starring a Swedish private investigator named Ingmar living in America, set up to be the start of a series. In this first installment, a rich dame asks for help in finding her missing twin sister, whose lust for thrills seems to have gotten her in a real dilemma. There is no way for the player to fail, but depending on your choices, Ingmar could end up having sex with either the dame, or a local cop who turns out to be much more willing to take up arms to defend justice than she initially appears. The story as a whole is somewhat entertaining, with an interesting development or two you may not expect. It's not a lengthy read, lasting about two hours, so you can stay engaged while reading from start to end...but if that's still too long, you could just click the Skip button to speed through everything and see the H-scene at the tail end. However, if you do actually read the story, it's almost entirely focused on investigation; even the most action-packed segment features the player merely acting as a lookout while others do the interesting parts. There are also some text errors that can break immersion, such as a line that states "Except her hair from different to mine". The BGM is nice and jazzy, but will inevitably loop a few times during each scene, given the amount of investigation and exposition talked about. Character portraits are well-made but rather limited, consisting of no men and five girls that can slightly change the expressions on their face but never adjust their posture. And if you wanted to experience this just for the H-Scenes at the end, you will be greatly disappointed. Each girl only gets one image of wearing lingerie and one of sex, and their quality is mediocre; Ingmar's exposed chest doesn't even have nipples. Pros: Story long enough to leave an impression, but short enough not to bore; Jazzy BGM Cons: Limited character portraits; Lackluster H-Scenes; Focus on Investigation over action CONCLUSION: This story of a New England Detective is a decent read. Not a stellar read, and not a sexy read (even when the sex finally happens), but decent enough to not be a waste of five-to-six bucks if you're a fan of investigation dramas.

It is a short ( about 1.5h ) and well written VN but nothing very special happens. There are no big twist, no real paths, only two different endings that don't change anything else beside the last scene, a good amount of choices but only a line or two of different dialogue and you go back on the same exact path. Choices only affect which ending you get and when trying to get both ending, it's unclear how many of them actually matter. Probably would have worked better as a kinetic novel and only one choice at the end, none of the choices really felt like they brought interesting information, mostly fluff. The art is nice but not a lot of different backgrounds nor characters and some of them are barely used beside the two main heroines, it felt like a tease. The music was ok and no voice acting. It feels like a lot of content was cut or changed, screenshots in the store don't even happens in the game, there is no Countess, Ballistic Tests or Morning Runs but there are mentions of subs, handcuffs and cocktails. If you ran out of better VNs to play on Steam it's not horrible but otherwise I would pick something else. At least it is pretty cheap but I would still wait for a sale. They recently added a free 18+ DLC to add one small scene per ending with one or two CG each at most. It is a nice gesture considering this does not look like it was a big success.

If you don't pay too much and don't expect too much it is a close decision. This is a 5 out of 10 so a tie goes to the runner like in baseball. Too many stereotypes and too little plot. The author does create interest at some points but then it sort of is wasted. One reviewer online trashed it for being unrealistic as he knew something about real police work. I also know something about "real" police work and the thing that struck me as wrong was that the police did not treat him as an enemy. I have hired a number of private investigators and the only ones that the police tolerated were retired police (from that department) that took up private investigation work. But this is not a documentary and we should allow some artistic license to the author. There is no romance or love in this just a tiny bit of sex. This is not a real mystery just a read along and see what happens. You get to make a FEW choices like whether or not to eat peanuts at the bar. Seriously!

Great story, great dialogues, lots to read. Not too long. Graphics are fairly simple, but well done and the music is superb. I ended up with all 3 achievements, so there is one description of heavy violence, but no graphics about it and a bit of graphic sex. If you can live with this, go for it. Makes me want to play the next part by these authors.

Small and cute visual novel. Ok story.

Short visual novel. Two love interests. Decent enough. Seems to be the dev's first work. Recommend.
