Kurzfazit: 👍👍 81%

Ein Indietitel der "Systemshock" & "We happy few" mit Point´n´Klick Adventure Rätseln kombiniert - in schicker LowPoly Deus Ex 2 Optik.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3305599342
Das ist der Prolog. Kostenlos. Deus Ex, Half Life, We happy Few, Bioshock, sogar Terminatior Resistance,... und eben auch System Shock.

Raumstation, Einsam, Unfall, WHAT THE FUGG has happended?
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3305599276
So weit, so Point´n´Click. Ich fand ja "We happy Few" einfach grandios.
"Neospace: Prologue" is not a game. It's an advertisement for a product called "Neospace". Neospace is a low poly first person adventure game that doesn't even exist, it's not a product you can buy. And given the completely disastrous response to this advertisement (go see the peak user count), there's no real motivation for the developers to bother. Neospace is dead before it even arrives on Steam. But this isn't completely relevant because this is not Neospace, it's just an advertisment for it, so it's not correct to try to review that completely distinct product (if they ever make it). We must instead review this for what it is... an advertisement. If you enjoy advertisements, you can consume them for free on the web or on Youtube without needing to add them to your game library, download them, and then launch the advertising. It's impossible in a general sense to recommend people should do that over playing real, full games on Steam, and that applies here with "Neospace: Prologue" too. This is only free in the same way that adverts on Youtube and banner ads in your browser are. This is a game demo that's been dumped on Steam to advertise another Steam store page in the hopes of raking in some cash. Just because advertisements are free, doesn't mean they're worth your time. It's important to understand there's a formal process to create a demo/page for a game which hasn't been followed here: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/application/demos While it might seem like an inocuous mistake, publishing demos and advertisements as if they are full games is misleading and in some ways harmful. This advertisement is taking up marketing space and visibility that would be better made available to a developer that's done the right thing and created a full game. Instead, that visibility is given over to a demo/advert that's been published incorrectly and is polluting the marketplace. It's unclear if this mistake was made through incompetence or a deliberate intent to mislead gamers. Often developers may choose to incorrectly publish demo/advertisements as separate games as a cheap way to bypass paying Valve for marketing presence on the Steam front page, which may seem clever to them, but it's harmful behaviour and it's not good for gamers. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 9 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Advertisements and incorrectly published demos don't add +1 to your game collector count, they aren't full games. It's impossible for me to recommend this incorrectly published advertising spam to gamers, you deserve better than adverts.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The first thing the developer wants everyone to know is that they are "The Main Character". You, as a gamer, don't matter. They breach Valve guidelines for developers just to complain about a fully accurate and informative review (with facts their ego doesn't like). It's evident from their attitude that they never created this product with gamers in mind. They did so to stroke their own ego. When developers, especially failed ones who would never be able to get a professional job in the industry, put themselves before gamers, we end up with garbage products like this. That explains how this trash ended up on Steam, but it doesn't excuse it. At least we finally got to meet THE MAIN CHARACTER. The developer gleefully admits they knew all about the correct process for advertisements and demos, and chose not to follow it, on purpose. They knew their actions, spamming the Steam store with "games" that are just demos, intended to advertise a different product, would be harmful, garbage for Steam gamers to have to sift past when searching for genuinely made games from ethical developers. They knew it would harm ethical developers who do the right thing and publish only complete games (NOT advertisements) in the game section. Following the rules and respecting others isn't acceptable for this developer, because he's The Main Character, and NOBODY else matters, especially not YOU, the gamer. What a disgusting attitude. You can see the delusions of grandeur from this "CEO" (what a pathetic joke). It should be no surprise when arrogant, self obsessed "developers" have this appalling attitude, they're also terrible at pretending to be game developers. Absolutely the case here. The Main Character put his disgusting attitude and disdain for everyone but himself on show here. Obviously any garbage from this "CEO" should be avoided like the plague. Oh wait, SteamDB shows everyone already shunned this guy. Even though he is The Main Character. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this failed advertisement to anyone.
2 bit Donkey Kong simulator for hacking. This is 2024 not 1994 when this might be state of the art. Pass!
TOO DARK to see anything, you should give players flashlights at least. Stuck after opening the door at the end of corridor, screw driver and crowbar are totally useless. Even I set language to English and in game voice + subtitle are still German. Glowing thing in the dark are very uncomfortable for eyes. ================================ 20240722 A prototype game developed by dev with high sense of responsibility (pretty German), active updates and feedback focusing are impressive. Though it's pretty primitive for now, with dev team keeping on, this could be pretty promising.
Crowbar Acquired!
I'm 95% sure an alien is at some point going to pop out of nowhere and get me, and all I have is a crowbar! Did a quick review / walk-through of the prologue and initial puzzles as you find yourself trapped alone* on your own ship! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGgyU5x6ZoY
*Still think there is an alien somewhere on this ship!
Pretty good concept and a nice little experience. Looking forward to the full release. (on a side note: it has some typos with the english subtitles and
the asteroid minigame at the hub seems like its broken, most of the time it doesn't shoot, making the "get 35 asteroids in one round" hard af
)
Right off the bat you're launched into an intuitive environment with simple yet enticing gameplay. Stranded on an empty spaceship, you're implored to discover the mysterious disappearance of your crew, accompanied by various mini games and interactive surroundings. The consistent storytelling and world building help shape an impelling, sometimes ominous atmosphere and had me eager to explore more and more of Neospace. I was pleased and passionate about the palpable care and effort that the developers have put into their game.
