Neko Secret – Homecoming is a small-scale indie exploration and puzzle game developed and published by Axyos Games that presents itself as a relaxed, low-pressure adventure set in a quiet, stylized town. From the moment the player arrives in Neko Town, the game establishes a deliberately unhurried tone, emphasizing curiosity and wandering over urgency or challenge. Rather than delivering a tightly scripted story or mechanically complex systems, it invites players to meander through its environments, uncover small secrets, and piece together progress through a collection of light interactions and mini-games. The core structure revolves around freeform exploration within a modest 3D town. Players guide a customizable heroine through streets, buildings, and interiors in search of items that gradually unlock new areas and objectives. Much of the experience is driven by simple discovery: finding keys, tools, or clues tucked away in corners, drawers, or behind interactable objects. This approach gives the game a casual, almost scavenger-hunt-like rhythm, where advancement comes from paying attention to the environment rather than mastering complex mechanics or solving elaborate logic puzzles. Interspersed throughout exploration are a variety of small mini-games that serve as gates to progression. These include activities such as lockpicking, cracking safes, playing darts, or interacting with basic mechanical puzzles. Each mini-game is straightforward and easy to understand, designed more to provide brief interaction than to meaningfully test skill. While these diversions help break up the monotony of walking and searching, they can also feel somewhat disconnected from one another, reinforcing the sense that the game is a collection of loosely linked ideas rather than a tightly integrated system. A notable portion of the game’s progression eventually leads into an anime factory, which shifts the experience slightly by introducing 2D picture-based puzzles. These segments ask players to assemble or unlock images by completing simple tasks, offering a contrast to the 3D exploration of Neko Town. While this change of perspective adds variety, it also highlights the game’s experimental nature, as the transition between modes can feel abrupt. The factory sections provide clearer goals than the town itself, but they remain mechanically light and brief. Character customization is one of the most prominent features on the surface. Players are given a wide range of cosmetic options, including outfits, accessories, hairstyles, and body proportions, allowing them to personalize the protagonist extensively. This customization is purely aesthetic and does not influence gameplay or puzzle-solving in any way. For some players, this adds charm and personal expression, making exploration feel more engaging on a visual level. For others, it underscores the game’s limited mechanical depth, as the customization exists largely in isolation from the rest of the experience. Visually, Neko Secret – Homecoming adopts a simple 3D art style that aligns with its casual ambitions. Environments are clean and readable, if somewhat sparse, and character models are stylized rather than highly detailed. The town itself feels more like a stage than a living world, with large areas serving primarily as connective space rather than places filled with meaningful interaction. Audio design follows a similar philosophy, using gentle background music and unobtrusive sound effects to maintain a calm atmosphere rather than driving tension or narrative weight. The pacing of the game is slow and deliberately undemanding. There is little pressure to move quickly or optimize progress, and the experience is well suited to short, relaxed play sessions. However, this pacing can also contribute to a sense of aimlessness, particularly for players who prefer clear objectives or narrative motivation. The absence of strong story hooks or escalating challenges means that engagement relies almost entirely on the player’s tolerance for wandering and light interaction. Player reception reflects this divide in expectations. Those who approach Neko Secret – Homecoming as a casual diversion often appreciate its laid-back nature, visual customization, and gentle puzzle elements. Others find the experience lacking focus, citing empty exploration spaces, repetitive mini-games, and a general feeling that the game never fully commits to a strong identity. The mixed response highlights how narrowly the game’s appeal is tied to a specific mindset and audience. Ultimately, Neko Secret – Homecoming is best viewed as a quiet, experimental indie title rather than a fully realized adventure game. Its strengths lie in its relaxed tone, simple exploration, and cosmetic personalization, while its weaknesses stem from limited depth, cohesion, and narrative drive. For players seeking a low-stakes, curiosity-driven experience with minimal challenge, it can offer a brief and gentle diversion. For those hoping for richer mechanics or a more purposeful journey, it may feel underdeveloped, serving more as a collection of ideas than a cohesive whole. Rating: 6/10

Steam emote pack that comes with a puzzle game. The emotes are great, the game is not. But you can easily get all achievements in less than an hour. Recommending just for the steam emotes.
