2k Playgrounds 2 is a basketball fan's dream come true. With over 500 playable ballers on the roster, this game is sure to keep you hooked as you go through NBA seasons and unlock new players with packs. Gotta draft them all right? Gameplay is smooth. Only complaints I have are that I can't do dunks consistently, can't do self alley oops on the keyboard and mouse or successfully land any alley to alley oops. The lottery picks are a great feature to keep matches fresh in that you randomly get different picks to work with and can strategize your possessions to take advantage of these when they pop up. Difficulty options are also nice and accurate. Expert itself is pretty challenging for me, let alone there's a whole nother tier above it. The grind in the game can be a pain but worth it in my opinion. Once you experience all the modes you'll be able to carve out the most efficient way to gain more bucks and open more packs. I've got pretty much close to the entire roster of players by now so that can give you a rough idea of the time it takes to grind. As with any trading card like game, a big thrill of playing this game is opening packs to get new players. You feel like you're rewarded for winning matches, 3pt contests, etc. At one point it felt like there was a pity counter so that you don't get so many duplicates. I can't say for sure if there is one but I did find the odds of my openings pretty low when I got new players X amount of times in a row so there could be sometihng there. I recommend opening card packs until you start seeing lots of duplicates in a row then at some point just buy the rest of the players individually in the collection. I didn't spend any actual money in the game. I spent all of my time playing the game and earning packs that way. It felt more rewarding for me personally. This is one of those games where you have the option to do either. The roster is missing some notable players like Anthony Edwards, but he was a rookie the year this game came out so its not 2k's fault here. I think it was fairly generous that they added many free updates to add more players after releasing the game. The influencer broadcasters were mostly a misss except for Ian, CashNasty and iMAV3RIQ who were the only ones I enjoyed listening to. I definitely got my moneys worth out of this game. It's a game you can hit play on and just chill with a buddy or family member doing silly over the top basketball moves in a 2v2 setting and can be as competitive as you want it to be. I can see myself playing this one for a very long time. Devs if you're reading this, great job. If a playgrounds 3 ever comes out, I'd recommend allowing players to trade places in teams for more accurate representation and also the ability to select and watch CPU vs CPU matches, and the ability to set screens and roll/fade to add a bit more strategy to the gameplay. Also player introductions would be cool. Oh and please make the controls for dunking/self alley oops easier, it should be as easy as doing layups
