idk how it isn't delisted yet, but get it now if you still can
It is fun, also there is no memory protection on the normal currency so it is easy to unlock everything :)

NBA 2K Playgrounds 2, developed by Saber Interactive and published by 2K, is an unapologetically arcade-focused basketball title that deliberately steps away from the realism of the mainline NBA 2K series. Instead of simulations, fouls, and complex playbooks, it embraces exaggerated animations, over-the-top dunks, and fast 2-on-2 action that recalls classic arcade basketball games. From the moment you step onto one of its many playground courts, the game makes it clear that fun, accessibility, and spectacle are its primary goals rather than authenticity. Gameplay is built around quick matches that emphasize timing and momentum. Shooting relies on a simple charge-and-release mechanic, while steals, blocks, passes, and dunks are all handled through streamlined controls that are easy to learn even for players with little basketball knowledge. The action is fast and often chaotic, with frequent alley-oops, massive slam dunks, and dramatic last-second shots. While there is some strategy in choosing when to shoot or pass, matches are largely driven by reflexes and rhythm rather than tactical depth. This simplicity makes the game immediately approachable, especially in local multiplayer settings. One of the biggest highlights of NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 is its massive roster. The game features hundreds of NBA players spanning multiple eras, from modern superstars to legendary icons. Each player has their own stat profile, influencing shooting accuracy, dunking ability, speed, and defense. This encourages experimentation with different pairings and playstyles, as some duos excel at perimeter shooting while others dominate near the basket. Collecting and upgrading players becomes a central part of the experience, giving players long-term goals beyond individual matches. Progression, however, is also one of the game’s most divisive elements. Unlocking players relies on earning in-game currency through matches and spending it on card packs, with the option to purchase currency using real money. While it is entirely possible to unlock content through play alone, the grind can feel slow, especially when trying to acquire specific favorite players. This progression system has drawn criticism from players who feel it clashes with the spirit of a lighthearted arcade game, though others enjoy the sense of collection and gradual improvement. The game offers a variety of modes to keep things fresh. In addition to standard exhibition matches, there is a season mode that provides structure and rewards through a short league-style progression. A three-point contest mode adds a change of pace, focusing purely on shooting skill. Both local and online multiplayer are supported, with local play in particular standing out as the most enjoyable way to experience the game. Playing with friends on the same screen amplifies the energy and humor of the exaggerated animations and sudden momentum swings. Visually, NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 adopts a colorful, cartoon-like art style with oversized player heads and exaggerated proportions. The courts themselves range from urban outdoor playgrounds to more stylized environments, offering visual variety even if they don’t match the graphical fidelity of simulation titles. Animations are intentionally flashy, prioritizing spectacle over realism, and the soundtrack and sound effects reinforce the upbeat, party-like atmosphere. While the presentation may feel somewhat plain or dated to some players, it fits the game’s arcade identity well. In terms of depth, the game’s biggest limitation is repetition. While the core mechanics are fun, they don’t evolve significantly over time. Matches can start to feel similar after extended play, particularly for solo players. The AI can also be inconsistent, sometimes offering little challenge and other times feeling erratic. These issues make the game better suited for short, energetic sessions rather than long, marathon playthroughs. Overall, NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 succeeds as a casual, arcade-style basketball experience that values accessibility and spectacle over realism. Its huge roster, easy-to-learn controls, and energetic multiplayer make it an enjoyable alternative to traditional sports simulations. While its progression system and limited mechanical depth may frustrate some players, it remains a solid choice for fans looking for fast, exaggerated basketball action—especially in a social or couch co-op setting where its chaotic charm shines the brightest. similar a NBA jam or el NBA hangtime 64. lastima que ya no esta a la venta
some digga named TD made me play this game
NBA playgrounds é subestimado, me rendeu horas de diversão mas infelizmente eu sinto que é limitado, falta algo e se torna meio repetitivo depois de um tempo.

I missed out on two generations of this game archetype, the latter being NBA Jam: On Fire Edition on the Xbox 360. I had been emulating the original NBA Jam (and plan to check out NBA Hangtime soon) and was wondering if games like it were still around. I was shocked to see it still available and bought two copies for my main and alt accounts. I had a lot of fun playing it over the summer while babysitting my nephew. I'm also glad I got to snag it before it was delisted. I just know 2K's planning to release a modern-day slopped version filled with microtransactions. Playground also runs very well on the Steam Deck, and I plan on unlocking Jayson Tatum when I get back to playing. I really hate how unappreciative my generation of gamers are for fun arcade games, smh. Even with some of us growing up on Xbox Arcade and the peak of ISO and Android in terms of games and apps! Like, do y'all even know about Bouncy Basketball?
