Or were you deaf or were you blind when you left your two fine legs behind, Or was it sailing on the sea when you got the cannonball to your knee, I too was young and I was slim and I had a leg for every limb, But now I’ve got no legs at all, they were both shot away by a cannonball.

About

Admiral John Byng who spent his life sailing the seas for the British Navy, died in 1757, by bullets on the deck of HMS Monarch. Admiral Horatio Nelson, carrying on with the utmost duty, fell similarly to a French musket shot in 1805.
Now it is YOUR turn to sail the seas of the Age of Sail.
But it would be wise to approach the subject cautiously: practice, improve your skill and your ship and connections with allies. Then you can commandeer best vessels: crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear lamentations of their women in global chat.
.......................................................................................................................................................
Naval Action is a hardcore, realistic, and beautifully detailed naval combat game immersing players into the experience of the most beautiful period of naval history - when sailing ships ruled the seas.
Age of sail combat is a personal affair with no dirty tricks, corner camping, or hiding in bushes: you see the enemy from 20km and so do they. Just like in boxing you have to get close; and use all your tactical knowledge of wind, your ship to slug it out face to face. Broadside weight matters, but even a smaller vessel can overcome the superior enemy by focusing on the enemy weak spots.
No game has come closer to the replication of the Age of Sail sailing mechanics and combat. Thats why Naval action was named one best releases from early access in 2019 by Valve!
Beautiful ships – We have been painstakingly recreating the beautiful ships of the Age of sail period. Accurate hull models, sail plans, guns, internal upgrades, historical speed trials were used in the creation of vessels. The game features 50+ ships from small cutters to large 100+ gun 1st rates allowing the player to experience every possible role of that era.

Realistic sailing – Advanced wind and physics model provides for realistic portrayal of ship’s performance in the age of sail. Yard angles, ship angle to wind, fittings and ship condition affects speeds and turning rates. Correct tacking, boxhauling, clubhauling and other elements of realistic sailing will help you win battles in most adverse conditions.
Conquest and PVP Activities Fight for the domination of the West Indies, recreated based on 18th Century maps and navigational charts. Build ships, trade, attack enemies of your nation almost everywhere and capture their ships and Open trading outposts in the ports governed by your clan.
Damage model – Every cannonball is tracked in the air and after it hits the target. Leaks, structural damage, torn sails, demasting, raking, fires, explosions and all other hazards that were possible in that era. Damage is positional: hit the gun and you might destroy it. Gunnery crews are placed deck by deck. Shot can pass through the balcony, ricochet of the gun, hit a crew member and then fly out of the gunport splashing into the water. Armor thickness and wood types affect strength of the hull and cannonballs will ricochet from the hulls at extreme angles.
Built for PVP: Absolutely no hackers.
Hacking is a killer of fun in PVP games. From the start we have built the tech around one main goal - complete elimination of hacking from PVP. Naval Action is one of the few games where hacking is made impossible by design. Every battle action is calculated on the servers, even water and wave shapes. Yes - you have heard it right: there is a special server that calculates and replicates waves to all users in battle. When fighting in Naval action you can be sure you are only facing skills and ship fittings.
Gunnery and weapons – Major types of naval artillery are implemented: from long guns to mortars to carronades and obusiers. Fort and land batteries will provide you with support during battles near shores. Mortar vessels can destroy fortifications, though they may require an escort.

Each gun has realistic ballistics and penetration performance based on historical gun charts and admiralty tests. Heel and wind affect the shooting distance and will require a change in tactics.

Reviews
If you've seen the excellent film, Master and Commander, if you've read the Patrick O'Brian novels, this is the game for you. Just play it, its hard, not polished but nothing else comes so close.
The dev is just ruining the game for all players. Making it almost impossible to sail bigger ships as new player or clans with fewer active players. there was a nice playerbase playing this game but the grind is to much and the fun is not there any more cause players are afraid to lose their ships.

Naval Action is one of those rare games where the deeper you go, the more you realize how much thought sits under the hull. This isn’t an arcade shooter with sails: it’s a high-fidelity age-of-sail simulator where the physics, wind, heel, inertia, angling and damage modelling actually matter. When you take a broadside in this game, it feels earned both ways. There’s been a wave of negative reviews lately, most of them focusing on old issues or frustrations from players who haven’t come back to see the recent progress. The difference now is the dev team is clearly listening. They’re rolling out fixes quickly, tuning combat, addressing balance problems, and putting real attention into player feedback. You can see it in the patch cadence and in the way the test server updates focus on real mechanical issues, not cosmetic distractions. The real hook, though, is what happens once you join a clan. PvP, PvE, and Realm-vs-Realm all become entirely different games when you’re coordinating with people who actually know what they’re doing. The combination of sailing mechanics, tactical combat, and group coordination is where Naval Action becomes something you simply can’t get anywhere else. A good battle with your clan on Discord is one of the best multiplayer experiences you’ll find today. Naval Action isn’t perfect, and it never pretends to be. But it’s improving fast, the devs are engaged, the systems are deep, and the community (once you find the right people) is one of the tightest and most rewarding in this genre. If you want instant gratification, look elsewhere like World of Sea Battle. If you want the most authentic and skill-based naval combat you can get on PC, this is it.
Fix the game buddy! The devs of Naval Action are like shipwrights who built a gorgeous vessel, then spent the next decade drilling holes in the hull and blaming the passengers for drowning. Instead of steering the game toward accessibility, growth, or fun, they doubled down on bizarre, self-sabotaging decisions that scared away anyone who wasn't already gone. They treat feedback the way a cannon treats a hull: smash it to pieces and then wonder why the crew mutinies. Every update feels less like "improving the game" and more like "running a live experiment on how many players can be alienated before Steam stops listing you." They had lightning in a bottle - a beautiful, niche naval combat sim - but rather than nurture it, they acted like petty gatekeepers. Balancing? Botched. Grind? Increased. Opinions? Ignored. Economy and crafting? Made deliberately worse, as if to filter out anyone who doesn't want to turn a video game into an unpaid second job. Worse, they radiate this smug "we know best" energy, like the dwindling playerbase is proof they've achieved some kind of naval realism nirvana, rather than proof that they've driven the community into a lifeboat and set the ship on fire. At this point, Naval Action isn't a game - it's a floating museum piece of developer arrogance, crewed by a skeleton playerbase that survives in spite of the devs, not because of them
Ahoi!
Good unique game
파도가 난해하다!
Dieses Spiel kann wahrscheinlich gut sein, allerdings muss ich sagen, dass es am Anfang wirklich keinen Spaß macht.
If you want to play a game where you can just sail arround and do stuff. then this one is really good. I know there is a lot of grind you have to do but in the end, lots of games have this issue too. One really negative point is the DLC politic. I think they are just too expensive. But thats just my point of few. The part with gunpowder and ammo, fine, but also here, its grind like in lots other games too.
