Or were you deaf or were you blind when you left your two fine legs behind, Or was it sailing on the sea when you got the cannonball to your knee, I too was young and I was slim and I had a leg for every limb, But now I’ve got no legs at all, they were both shot away by a cannonball.

About

Admiral John Byng who spent his life sailing the seas for the British Navy, died in 1757, by bullets on the deck of HMS Monarch. Admiral Horatio Nelson, carrying on with the utmost duty, fell similarly to a French musket shot in 1805.
Now it is YOUR turn to sail the seas of the Age of Sail.
But it would be wise to approach the subject cautiously: practice, improve your skill and your ship and connections with allies. Then you can commandeer best vessels: crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear lamentations of their women in global chat.
.......................................................................................................................................................
Naval Action is a hardcore, realistic, and beautifully detailed naval combat game immersing players into the experience of the most beautiful period of naval history - when sailing ships ruled the seas.
Age of sail combat is a personal affair with no dirty tricks, corner camping, or hiding in bushes: you see the enemy from 20km and so do they. Just like in boxing you have to get close; and use all your tactical knowledge of wind, your ship to slug it out face to face. Broadside weight matters, but even a smaller vessel can overcome the superior enemy by focusing on the enemy weak spots.
No game has come closer to the replication of the Age of Sail sailing mechanics and combat. Thats why Naval action was named one best releases from early access in 2019 by Valve!
Beautiful ships – We have been painstakingly recreating the beautiful ships of the Age of sail period. Accurate hull models, sail plans, guns, internal upgrades, historical speed trials were used in the creation of vessels. The game features 50+ ships from small cutters to large 100+ gun 1st rates allowing the player to experience every possible role of that era.

Realistic sailing – Advanced wind and physics model provides for realistic portrayal of ship’s performance in the age of sail. Yard angles, ship angle to wind, fittings and ship condition affects speeds and turning rates. Correct tacking, boxhauling, clubhauling and other elements of realistic sailing will help you win battles in most adverse conditions.
Conquest and PVP Activities Fight for the domination of the West Indies, recreated based on 18th Century maps and navigational charts. Build ships, trade, attack enemies of your nation almost everywhere and capture their ships and Open trading outposts in the ports governed by your clan.
Damage model – Every cannonball is tracked in the air and after it hits the target. Leaks, structural damage, torn sails, demasting, raking, fires, explosions and all other hazards that were possible in that era. Damage is positional: hit the gun and you might destroy it. Gunnery crews are placed deck by deck. Shot can pass through the balcony, ricochet of the gun, hit a crew member and then fly out of the gunport splashing into the water. Armor thickness and wood types affect strength of the hull and cannonballs will ricochet from the hulls at extreme angles.
Built for PVP: Absolutely no hackers.
Hacking is a killer of fun in PVP games. From the start we have built the tech around one main goal - complete elimination of hacking from PVP. Naval Action is one of the few games where hacking is made impossible by design. Every battle action is calculated on the servers, even water and wave shapes. Yes - you have heard it right: there is a special server that calculates and replicates waves to all users in battle. When fighting in Naval action you can be sure you are only facing skills and ship fittings.
Gunnery and weapons – Major types of naval artillery are implemented: from long guns to mortars to carronades and obusiers. Fort and land batteries will provide you with support during battles near shores. Mortar vessels can destroy fortifications, though they may require an escort.

Each gun has realistic ballistics and penetration performance based on historical gun charts and admiralty tests. Heel and wind affect the shooting distance and will require a change in tactics.

A game like no other. While other games set in the Age of Sail tend to resemble cheesy mobile titles or pay no heed to authenticity or sailing tactics, *Naval Action* leaves the rest miles behind—even if that means the game, already occupying a niche (the Age of Sail), narrows its appeal even further into another niche (realism). The game’s fundamental structure is simple: a sandbox. Everything is shaped by player actions—albeit through the collective effort of the masses rather than the deeds of a single individual. It involves economics, politics, and, of course, tactical acumen and sailing skill. Yet, since the last server reset—over a year ago—the developer has managed to make the game worse with every single patch. The few patches in between that actually improved things unfortunately only served to "heal" the damage caused by previous ones. Now, however, the game is unplayable and doomed to perish—like someone dying of thirst in an oasis. It’s quite simple: to play the game, you need ships, repairs (sails, hull, crew), cannons, and ammunition (powder and various types of shot)—and you have to craft everything yourself. To craft these things, you have to: a) acquire the resources from the respective ports (takes several evenings) b) earn the money to pay for those resources (takes several evenings) c) gather the money and doubloons needed for crafting (takes several evenings) d) level up your crafting skill just to be able to craft in the first place (takes several evenings) ... all just to get a ship—assuming you don't get sunk along the way... or have that newly crafted ship sunk immediately after. DLCs essentially mean "pay-to-play." And regardless of anything else, you need ammunition and the money to buy it. The game is a full-time job where you only get to have fun for a tenth of the time you put in. Sure, some people enjoy crafting, others like PvE or PvP—whether in large fleets or as privateers. But that’s the issue: the current meta doesn't allow one player's playstyle to balance out another's. The game is nothing but a grind. It was designed for a player base of at least a thousand people. With only 130 players online (at peak times, pre-patch!), it means no one is going to invest in large ships anymore. And given the current speeds and the fragility of the smaller ships, even those who might have been interested in them won't want to touch them. But the balancing of the various rates and speeds is a separate issue for now... ...even though it’s arguably more important to me, since the good old days of privateering are effectively dead. Flying smaller ships is simply suicidal right now. PvP is no longer viable for solo players or small groups (of four or fewer). ...if anything changes in the game regarding this, I’d be happy to update my review (my first one so far). Fair winds o7

game is ♥♥♥♥ don't bother
Read all the other reviews every complaint has already been said. It should be criminal what these devs did.
Ne perdez pas votre argent avec ce jeu, le studio fait n'importe quoi depuis un long moment, change la monétisation de maniere agressive pour fais tout ce qui peut rapporter de l'argent même si ça vas à l'encontre des joueurs.
Game used to be great back in the day, like 5 years ago. Now days the developer implements changes that no one wants. He made a poll about the effectiveness of chain shot and the player base voted, the developer made the changes according to what the player base wanted only to revert the changes after a single nation complained. He plays favorites to certain nations. The developer even harasses, badgers, and talks negatively about players on the Naval Action Discord. He will publicly say negative and distasteful comments about players on the Discord, which is not what a developer should be doing. They (he) deletes posts that offer any constructive criticism. Instead of keeping the game free to play for a higher server population the developer made it cost money again and refuses to introduce any new ships except those DLC"s which are worthless anyways. Recent changes have made long-standing players quit the game, which only has 200 people at peak hours. 100/10 do not recommend wasting anymore money or time on this game where the developer refused to listen to the majority of what player base is left. Time to let this game die.
Get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Zazzy. Take your pos new update and shove it. No more DLCs, and no more play time from me.
I Ignored all the negative comments because they all seem to come from old veteran players. They all got their account wiped and were mad about it, in my opinion, if you have everything, you wont play anyway. Gave the game a try and still like it so far. Its true, it's a Niche Game but the ones playing it, like what its about. around 400 players on at a time. If you know where to go you will cross many players. In the beginning you trade a bit and in the meantime you can chat with other players, learning what you have to do and so on. After that you quickly learn to fight, but beware you will sink and you will be mad, but it is the only way to learn. So get past the rage quit. You earn money fast and you quickly cycle trough new ships. Ship models are top notch but the port models are trash, everything has a different scale... I really like the community, Chat is simple like in the old days, no stupid filters and everybody can be themselves, also with a lot of players that help you. If you like realistic naval combat from that era, this is the game. But don't expect realistic boarding, that past is a bit lame and hard to understand.
the game is too slow paced and super hard for new players to even begin, the long waits to get from point A to point B sometimes are too long and the amount of xp its too low from missions for normal new players with the beginner ship. besides that it takes too long for even be ready to go outside of the safe zone into the rest of the map :(
I loved this game a few years ago, but as a recent returning player, I cannot recommend. The wole needing gunpowder and cannonballs thing really sucks when when you're dirt poor with no coin. $Crew $Cannons $Gunpowder $Cannonballs $Repair kits $Medicine It's just not fun anymore and way way way to grindey.
Supported this game from its Pre-Alpha days. Skip this one, don't invest ANY time into. I made that mistake, hundreds of hours of grinding, getting myself to max level, collecting ships, all gone. Because the devs chose to be greedy, and refused to listen to their community. My profile was deleted with no warning, all that progress lost. All for a useless change. These devs have proven time and again that they are greedy and hate their community. Save yourself the time, don't give them any of your money.
