Or were you deaf or were you blind when you left your two fine legs behind, Or was it sailing on the sea when you got the cannonball to your knee, I too was young and I was slim and I had a leg for every limb, But now I’ve got no legs at all, they were both shot away by a cannonball.

About

Admiral John Byng who spent his life sailing the seas for the British Navy, died in 1757, by bullets on the deck of HMS Monarch. Admiral Horatio Nelson, carrying on with the utmost duty, fell similarly to a French musket shot in 1805.
Now it is YOUR turn to sail the seas of the Age of Sail.
But it would be wise to approach the subject cautiously: practice, improve your skill and your ship and connections with allies. Then you can commandeer best vessels: crush your enemies, see them driven before you and hear lamentations of their women in global chat.
.......................................................................................................................................................
Naval Action is a hardcore, realistic, and beautifully detailed naval combat game immersing players into the experience of the most beautiful period of naval history - when sailing ships ruled the seas.
Age of sail combat is a personal affair with no dirty tricks, corner camping, or hiding in bushes: you see the enemy from 20km and so do they. Just like in boxing you have to get close; and use all your tactical knowledge of wind, your ship to slug it out face to face. Broadside weight matters, but even a smaller vessel can overcome the superior enemy by focusing on the enemy weak spots.
No game has come closer to the replication of the Age of Sail sailing mechanics and combat. Thats why Naval action was named one best releases from early access in 2019 by Valve!
Beautiful ships – We have been painstakingly recreating the beautiful ships of the Age of sail period. Accurate hull models, sail plans, guns, internal upgrades, historical speed trials were used in the creation of vessels. The game features 50+ ships from small cutters to large 100+ gun 1st rates allowing the player to experience every possible role of that era.

Realistic sailing – Advanced wind and physics model provides for realistic portrayal of ship’s performance in the age of sail. Yard angles, ship angle to wind, fittings and ship condition affects speeds and turning rates. Correct tacking, boxhauling, clubhauling and other elements of realistic sailing will help you win battles in most adverse conditions.
Conquest and PVP Activities Fight for the domination of the West Indies, recreated based on 18th Century maps and navigational charts. Build ships, trade, attack enemies of your nation almost everywhere and capture their ships and Open trading outposts in the ports governed by your clan.
Damage model – Every cannonball is tracked in the air and after it hits the target. Leaks, structural damage, torn sails, demasting, raking, fires, explosions and all other hazards that were possible in that era. Damage is positional: hit the gun and you might destroy it. Gunnery crews are placed deck by deck. Shot can pass through the balcony, ricochet of the gun, hit a crew member and then fly out of the gunport splashing into the water. Armor thickness and wood types affect strength of the hull and cannonballs will ricochet from the hulls at extreme angles.
Built for PVP: Absolutely no hackers.
Hacking is a killer of fun in PVP games. From the start we have built the tech around one main goal - complete elimination of hacking from PVP. Naval Action is one of the few games where hacking is made impossible by design. Every battle action is calculated on the servers, even water and wave shapes. Yes - you have heard it right: there is a special server that calculates and replicates waves to all users in battle. When fighting in Naval action you can be sure you are only facing skills and ship fittings.
Gunnery and weapons – Major types of naval artillery are implemented: from long guns to mortars to carronades and obusiers. Fort and land batteries will provide you with support during battles near shores. Mortar vessels can destroy fortifications, though they may require an escort.

Each gun has realistic ballistics and penetration performance based on historical gun charts and admiralty tests. Heel and wind affect the shooting distance and will require a change in tactics.

Get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Zazzy. Take your pos new update and shove it. No more DLCs, and no more play time from me.
Taken over from a different Studio, Dev is still supporting this game 10 years after release and making changes. A lot of the bad reviews come from people that focus on late game interactions, anything up to that is a great gameplay loop and should be tried. Seeing as it will take some time to reach late game, maybe there will be a lot of Changes made till then.

game is ♥♥♥♥ don't bother
The developers just keep ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game up. Updates and fixes do absolutely nothing to improve what they broke. They just find new ways to break the game more every time they post "fixes". The game had potential, but it will never improve beyond the ♥♥♥♥ the devs have plopped out the past couple of years.
Game used to be great back in the day, like 5 years ago. Now days the developer implements changes that no one wants. He made a poll about the effectiveness of chain shot and the player base voted, the developer made the changes according to what the player base wanted only to revert the changes after a single nation complained. He plays favorites to certain nations. The developer even harasses, badgers, and talks negatively about players on the Naval Action Discord. He will publicly say negative and distasteful comments about players on the Discord, which is not what a developer should be doing. They (he) deletes posts that offer any constructive criticism. Instead of keeping the game free to play for a higher server population the developer made it cost money again and refuses to introduce any new ships except those DLC"s which are worthless anyways. Recent changes have made long-standing players quit the game, which only has 200 people at peak hours. 100/10 do not recommend wasting anymore money or time on this game where the developer refused to listen to the majority of what player base is left. Time to let this game die.

To any new players: This is a grindy game but its fun. To the dev and the playerbase: Scince the dev tries to boost interaction via blackmailing us into reviewing positively or he will withhold game content, I will review negatively until he brings the base feature of Clan Warehouse back. I love this game, I like the recent changes, but he is breaking steam code of conduct with trying to blackmail the player base which is asking for the reintroduction of basic features like Clan Warehouses or removal of BOP which was introduced with one of the last patches. This is my honest opinion: If you dont want to work on this game, please sell it to someone who wants to improve it. Make a deal that you get to use all the ressources for your beloved Sea Legends. At this point id buy the rights to this game and improve it.
I dont write many reviews. But i saw this had a lot of negative onces and i wanted to give my honest opinion. I have not read any reviews on it, but i guess a lot of them is bashing the devs. Probably rightly so. I dont remember when i bought it, probably 10 years ago. And i didnt play it for probably 5 years, but i came back recently because my itch to mash a broadside into another boat and watch it sink got the better of me. Yes the devs messed up a lot with this game. Yes there is a grind to this game, but not worse than grinding in for example war thunder. And you can speed it up by teaming up with other players. Its not a sim but its not arcade either. Yes the UI looks like its in pre-dev, but it does not really matter. But is it fun? Yes, its fun. And there is honestly not any other game on the market right now that gives you the option to do what you can do in this game. At least not as i found, and i did a fair amount of looking. You got tons of ships of different classes, you can sail across the entire carribean (and yes that takes time but u can do it), you can craft your own ship, you can equip it as you want, you can trade, you can engage in large port battles vs a loot of other players, Give it a try, but dont buy the DLC before you do, because you wont be able to crew the bigger ships untill you level up.
