Super fun!
I spent 6 hours doing the mice catching mini-game. I regret nothing.
I wanted to give this a thumbs up, as it has elements that could add up to a good product. However, I simply would not recommend this game. This game has many issues. The basic story and setup are interesting, however it quickly devolves into a puzzle compilation with occasional reading. I’m a big fan of the puzzle aspect in nancy games, however when you do not otherwise have a good game, the puzzles do not save it. The cast is weak and exceptionally disjointed. It reeks of underdevelopment when compared to the previous entries in the series. Certain features I'd come to expect from the cellphone are missing, worse navigation, unused scenes, more bugs, and most importantly, lack of detail. All of this leads to an absolute slog of a game. +no bess and george wtf

if there was a mixed option I would go with that, but I am leaning towards a recommended but with lots of notes about playing it. For me the reason to play this is the cool puzzle ideas, sure they are mostly chores but they actually feel like puzzles and don't feel like busy work. The graphics look really nice as well, though a bit dated. The story and the pacing is what makes it clunky, the story is a little not interesting and does not dwell on the mystery aspect as much as it is with the "Nancy helps out a group" trope, which feels kind of grating at one point. There are also so many times where I got lost on what or how to do something next and there is no indication or person to talk to to repeat instructions, which I find an odd choice for a point and click game. Overall I still had fun, and the game had enough content to take up a lot of time of play, so even though I had so many gripes about it, I still enjoyed a lot of the puzzles so I'm leaning towards a slight recommendation.
This one's hella underrated. Sure the mystery isn't all that compelling, but the puzzles and characters are where this game shines! Pa' has my heart and so do his pennies. I genuinely loved 90% of the puzzles in this one. Don't let the haters get you down, if you want a puzzle power house of a Nancy Drew, this is the one. 8/10
this game is pretty buggy
Love it!
I can understand why others don't like this Nancy Drew game as much as the others, but I found it interesting (maybe it's just because I'm into storm chasing). There are definitely a few frustrating moments and some of the puzzles aren't explained very clearly, but they're not overly difficult. The plot is pretty basic but it was interesting enough to unravel the mystery of the saboteur. If you want a quick ND game to zip through, this isn't a bad one. Also, DEBBIE YOU'RE NOT MY MOM. Stop telling me to go to bed!!
The only reason this game took me 12 hours is because I kept getting bored and forgetting it was on my screen. I used to play these games when I was a kid and recently I started replaying some old favorites and have decided to work my way through all of them. I had never played this one before, but it was on sale and I needed a new one so I went for it, despite the bad reviews. I can now say this is 100% the absolute worst one out of the 23 I've played so far. The setting and story line COULD have been good, the idea was definitely there, but it completely fell flat. The story was not fleshed out at all, the characters were flat and boring, the investigation was borderline non-existent, and the games swung from repetitive and monotonous to so vague and confusing I had to look up what was even happening before I could attempt them. I don't mind being given tasks to do, in fact I think it adds to the story, keeping up the idea that Nancy is undercover or working while sleuthing in secret, but this game is nothing but task after task after task. There is virtually no snooping or questioning subjects, and not one single mystery solving game or puzzle. It's literally just running around performing random tasks, fixing broken things, and driving in circles. You learn essentially nothing about the mystery at all, you're told there is one, you mention it a few times, and then you're at the end having uncovered practically nothing and the story is just laid out for you. I'm not usually one to write reviews at all, let alone long drawn out bad reviews, but this game was just genuinely terrible and I would say unless you're just going for full series completion it's not worth anyone's time. This games didn't feel like a detective game where you're undercover as an intern, it felt like an intern game where you happened to find a couple weird things along the way.
Great Classic Nancy Drew Game
