VERY INTERACTIVE AND FUN!!!!!!
解谜设计真的还蛮精细的!就是感觉解谜太多故事却太简单惹……但是还是很不错的游戏体验啦
It was fine. Way too much math for my brain tho

Of the original run of games, definitely the best animation. The 'money-minigames' are pretty straightforward and fun without being too onerous. Learned some Icelandic words, good puzzles, great general vibes, and I liked the updates to the animation and UI. Managed to finish it all in one night!
Developed and published by HeR Interactive, Nancy Drew: Sea of Darkness is widely regarded as one of the standout installments in the long-running detective adventure series. The story transports players to the icy Icelandic village of Skipbrot, where Nancy Drew is asked to investigate the mysterious disappearance of Captain Magnus Kiljansson just before the ceremonial launch of a restored sailing ship. What begins as a straightforward missing-person investigation gradually transforms into a captivating mystery involving forgotten history, local folklore, hidden treasure, and personal betrayals. The narrative steadily builds suspense while encouraging players to uncover the truth through observation, exploration, and logical reasoning rather than action-driven gameplay. The setting is one of the game's greatest achievements. The frozen harbor, snow-covered streets, rustic buildings, and imposing Nordic landscapes create an immersive atmosphere that immediately establishes a sense of isolation and mystery. Icelandic culture plays a major role throughout the adventure, with references to Viking traditions, maritime history, and legendary sea myths enriching nearly every location. These cultural elements never feel like simple decoration, as they are woven directly into both the storyline and many of the puzzles, making the world feel authentic and thoughtfully constructed. Sea of Darkness excels at storytelling by presenting a mystery that unfolds naturally over time. Every conversation, document, and environmental clue contributes something meaningful to the investigation. The suspects each have believable motivations, distinct personalities, and carefully hidden secrets that prevent the mystery from becoming predictable. Players must pay close attention to dialogue and subtle inconsistencies, as solving the case depends more on careful deduction than on following obvious clues. This approach rewards patience and creates a satisfying sense of accomplishment when individual pieces of evidence finally connect. Puzzle design remains one of the strongest aspects of the experience. Rather than relying on repetitive mechanics, the game offers an impressive assortment of logic challenges, code-breaking exercises, navigation tasks, machinery puzzles, and observation-based riddles. Most of these obstacles are integrated naturally into the environments, reinforcing the idea that Nancy is solving practical problems instead of completing arbitrary minigames. The inclusion of Amateur and Master Sleuth difficulty options also makes the adventure accessible to newcomers while providing experienced players with a greater challenge through fewer hints and more demanding solutions. Exploration feels consistently rewarding because every area contains useful information or interactive details that support the investigation. Searching through ships, workshops, museums, taverns, and docks uncovers historical records, mechanical devices, personal belongings, and hidden passages that gradually reveal the larger mystery. The game encourages curiosity by ensuring that nearly every discovery has narrative significance, making exploration feel purposeful rather than repetitive. Visually, the game represents one of the finest examples of HeR Interactive's classic engine. Detailed environments, atmospheric lighting, realistic weather effects, and carefully designed interiors bring the Icelandic village to life despite the aging technology. While character animations occasionally reveal the limitations of the engine, the overall artistic direction more than compensates with memorable scenery and excellent environmental detail. The sound design further strengthens immersion through ambient ocean waves, creaking wooden ships, icy winds, and a subtle musical score that complements the mystery without overwhelming it. Strong voice performances give each suspect a unique personality and make every conversation feel believable. Although the overall experience is highly polished, there are a few minor shortcomings. Some puzzles can be especially demanding and may temporarily interrupt the story's pacing for players who become stuck. Certain objectives also require revisiting previously explored locations multiple times, leading to occasional backtracking. Players unfamiliar with traditional point-and-click adventures may find the slower pace less exciting than modern cinematic titles. However, these issues rarely diminish the overall quality because the investigation remains engaging throughout its entire duration. Nancy Drew: Sea of Darkness successfully combines an intriguing detective story, memorable characters, intelligent puzzle design, and an exceptionally atmospheric setting into one of the series' strongest adventures. It captures the satisfaction of genuine investigative work while also providing insight into Icelandic culture and maritime history. Fans of thoughtful mystery games will appreciate its careful attention to detail, rewarding exploration, and well-crafted narrative, while longtime followers of the Nancy Drew franchise will recognize it as one of the finest examples of the classic formula before the series underwent major changes. Finished in about 19 hours. Def would recommend!
One of the best Nancy Drew games. The number of puzzles was a little absurd but I loved it.
