fun, challenging, the graphics are nice for its time. overall great game!
Fun puzzle game with a mystery story line. As a Nancy Drew fan since I was little this game is engaging and nostalgic.
lots of fun puzzles, runs well, easy to find next steps
Love the change of pace in this one. Just a good ole fashioned treasure hunt adventure with the best set of characters in the series. Puzzles are a bit too easy, but the vibes are fantastic.
Developed by Her Interactive and published by DreamCatcher, Nancy Drew: Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon is a classic point-and-click adventure that combines mystery, exploration, and puzzle-solving into a captivating detective experience. Inspired by one of the Nancy Drew novels, the game places players aboard a luxurious train journey that soon transforms into an investigation surrounding the disappearance of a legendary prospector and the rumored location of a hidden fortune. Rather than relying on action or fast-paced gameplay, the adventure encourages careful observation, logical thinking, and patient investigation, making it an excellent choice for players who appreciate story-driven mysteries. The game's narrative is one of its strongest qualities. The mystery unfolds naturally as Nancy joins a group of passengers with personal interests in the legendary Blue Moon Canyon treasure. Each companion brings a unique personality, background, and possible motive, making every conversation an opportunity to gather clues or uncover inconsistencies. The writing keeps players guessing throughout the journey, gradually revealing hidden relationships, forgotten history, and long-buried secrets without ever feeling rushed. The balance between historical storytelling and present-day investigation creates an engaging plot that maintains suspense until its satisfying conclusion. The setting plays an equally important role in establishing the game's atmosphere. Most of the adventure takes place aboard an elegant train filled with richly detailed compartments, mechanical devices, and hidden spaces waiting to be discovered. As the investigation progresses, players venture into abandoned mining areas and rugged wilderness locations that expand the scope of the mystery while preserving the feeling of isolation and adventure. The combination of historic rail travel and treasure hunting gives the game a distinctive identity that separates it from many other detective titles. Puzzle design remains one of the series' defining strengths, and Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon offers a satisfying variety of challenges. Players must solve mechanical contraptions, decode messages, organize clues, repair equipment, and unlock secret mechanisms that all tie directly into the story. The puzzles rarely feel disconnected from the investigation, instead reinforcing the feeling that every task brings Nancy one step closer to solving the case. The inclusion of Junior Detective and Senior Detective difficulty settings also makes the experience welcoming for both newcomers and seasoned fans by adjusting puzzle complexity and hint availability. The supporting cast adds considerable depth to the adventure. Each suspect is memorable thanks to distinct personalities, believable motivations, and entertaining dialogue. Whether interacting with ambitious writers, competitive investigators, paranormal enthusiasts, or the familiar Hardy Boys, every conversation contributes valuable information while making the world feel alive. The Hardy Boys themselves are a welcome addition, providing assistance without overshadowing Nancy's role as the lead investigator. Their involvement gives longtime fans an enjoyable crossover while expanding the investigative possibilities. Although the graphics reflect the technology available when the game was originally released, the environmental design continues to impress through strong artistic direction. The train interiors are filled with period details that create a convincing sense of place, while the surrounding canyons, mining tunnels, and historic landmarks effectively capture the adventurous spirit of the American frontier. Character models may appear dated by modern standards, but the visual presentation succeeds in creating an immersive setting where curiosity is constantly rewarded. The audio presentation further enhances the overall experience. Ambient train sounds, environmental effects, and a carefully composed musical score build an atmosphere that shifts naturally between peaceful exploration and mounting suspense. Voice performances are consistently well delivered, helping each character establish a distinct identity while making interrogations and story sequences feel engaging. The sound design complements the slower investigative pace without becoming repetitive or distracting. Gameplay emphasizes exploration, observation, and critical thinking over reflexes. Success comes from paying attention to dialogue, examining seemingly insignificant objects, and connecting information gathered throughout the investigation. Players who enjoy uncovering hidden passages, reading journals, experimenting with machinery, and piecing together complex mysteries will find the progression consistently rewarding. The gradual pacing allows the story and puzzles to develop organically, giving every discovery genuine significance. The game is not entirely without shortcomings. Some puzzles require very specific logic that may frustrate players unfamiliar with classic adventure game conventions, and occasional backtracking between train cars can interrupt the overall flow. The interface and character animations also reveal the game's age, lacking some of the convenience features expected from modern adventure titles. Nevertheless, these issues are relatively minor compared to the strength of the storytelling and puzzle design. Nancy Drew: Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon remains one of the standout entries in the long-running detective series because it successfully blends memorable characters, an intriguing historical mystery, satisfying puzzles, and an unforgettable setting into a cohesive adventure. Its emphasis on thoughtful investigation rather than action allows players to fully immerse themselves in the role of a detective, while the treasure-hunting premise keeps the journey exciting from beginning to end. Even years after its original release, it continues to offer an engaging and rewarding mystery that holds up remarkably well for fans of classic adventure games. Rating: 9/10
got that
Yet another fantastic and fun Nancy Drew game!! Loved it!
Not my favourite out of the Nancy Drew games I've played, but it was enjoyable overall. I hated the slugs balancing puzzle, but enjoyed a lot of the others. I always enjoy ones like the pipe arranging, food orders, mini games and riddles (like the one with the gems), etc.
