About
N++ is a fast-paced, momentum-based platformer about darting around obstacles, narrowly evading enemies and collecting gold in a beautiful minimalist landscape. It’s the first N game on PC since 2004 and we’ve spent those 12 years perfecting the platformer.
N++ is all about using your momentum to complete levels and get high scores, but in this sci-fi world, there’s a slew of inadvertently homicidal enemy robots trying to prevent you from completing your goal.
Through the hand-crafted (NOT procedurally generated) levels, you’ll experience platforming at its most intense. Using only your fluid movement, you need to ‘solve’ each level and get to the exit.
In addition to the lengthy and challenging single player campaign, we’ve packed a ton of features into this one last entry in the N series including:
-4,690 hand-made levels
-Custom Levels, Level Editor & Global Level Sharing
-Leaderboards and replays for every level (even the ones you make)
-Local Co-op Mode (up to 4 players)
-Local Competitive Mode (up to 4 Players)
-Hardcore Mode, an intense single-player challenge which only the best ninjas will survive
-Intense, hidden Secret challenges to discover
-63 tracks by top electronic artists
-125 different color palettes let you customize the game’s look and keep it fresh every time you play
-and more!
Play a little, or a lot -- there's no skill ceiling, so you can always get better and better. N++ is a game that has enough bite-sized gameplay to last you a lifetime.

N++ is by this point a staple if you're interested in precision 2D platforming, and it's for good reason! While the momentum-based movement might take a while to get used to, mastering it and pushing yourself to completing more and more of the game is immensely satisfying. Not to mention the game has a lot of levels, most of which I'd say are fun and satisfying. There are some levels I've seen so far that I would say aren't the best designed - Though frankly most of those come from the legacy tab, which consists of 'episodes' (sets of 5 levels, which the game is made up of) taken from previous iterations of N, from the flash and console era. Given the level count though (4k+), the amount of entire episodes which do click, is more than impressive. The soundtrack, while not original and consisting of licensed music, is absolutely phenomenal. I don't think I have every seen a collection of tracks not composed for a game fit so perfectly well in it. It puts you in the perfect mindset to just, get into the rhythm that the game encourages, flying (or, failing) through levels with the precision and flow of a ninja, even if it takes a bit of time and experience to truly get to that point. I don't think I'm at it yet, either. I think a good point for this game is that, whether you're coming from any other platformer, entirely new to the genre or just want to play multiplayer with friends, you can pace yourself in whatever way you want. The game is very generous with which episodes you choose to attempt first, what challenges you set yourself to. You can try and get 100% gold completion the first time around (I recommend against) or you can try and go through everything as quickly as you can. You can start from the later, typically harder levels, or you can stick to the intro a while. You can, play co-op, and suck at it, or you can try to control both players if you're lonely. The world is your oyster, so-to-speak, and it is a delectable one. I take this game a day at a time, sometimes. Sometimes I'll do an episode. At times I'll do 10. Seeking completion of all levels to me is like scaling a very large mountain in a dream, being able to return to where I was every time I fall asleep. Eventually I'll reach the top, and maybe then I'll try to build a spaceship and go even further. Shortly said, whether you're new to 2D precision platformers, or a veteran of the genre, N++ has something in store for you. It is more than worth full price, however it also goes on sale for half off or more fairly frequently - And when it does, there's really no reason not to give it a try. Thank you for reading, and happy (gold) hunting.
awful game, it's pretty good
Used to love this back on the 360. Aged like milk, couldn't stomach more than half an hour. If you missed out on XBLA platformers I guess you'll enjoy this? It's so TEDIOUS! Just jump in one place for like 2 minutes collecting the gold squares before inevitably failing a BS jump then doing the level over, this is the entire game there is nothing else to it. But for those of us who were alive and playing games in 2008, this is just not great. It's a bland, repetitive, ugly 2d platformer you've already probably played clones of more times than you care to remember.
(43% completion at the time of this review) I average about one platformer per decade and this was the lucky one to be chosen. Let's begin with the positives: + There is a substantial amount of content here - thousands of levels. + The levels are designed to be completed in different ways. + There's a good variety of levels. + Lots of different game modes: normal, co-op, hardcore, race. + There's a lot of colour schemes to unlock. + Many of the levels are aesthetically pleasing. + Lots of secret things to unlock/do. + Keys are rebindable. + Each enemy feels reasonably different and it is easy to tell them apart. + The main menu has a lot of replays of levels. + All the original N levels are included. However, the interface has a lot of problems: - Some text in the interface will overlap with other text. - The interface will often break when trying to control it with a mouse. - In general using the mouse to control the interface is awkward. Level View is particularly annoying. - The interface elements for the secrets look like an afterthought that has been hastily put in for debugging. - The success counter shown for each level is confusing, because it seems to be (number of successes)/(number of attempts), but I have levels with more successes than attempts. - In some places the interface will respond to mouse scrolling, but in other places it won't. - When the "Scores Around Mine" list of replays is opened it will select some other random person and not the person playing the game. - The game secretly tracks if an episode has been completed with no deaths, but this is only shown to the user when a bunch of other criteria are met. Consequently I have several episodes completed with no deaths, but I can't tell which episodes those are. - In the options I set the colour scheme to not change, but it still changes anyway. - A lot of the colour schemes initially seem nice, but then the gold is hard to see, or they have white text on a grey background, or some elements are blurry, etc. - There are lots of places where pressing Escape should allow for quitting the current situation, but it does nothing. - The progress completion percentage is obfuscated by default. - There are two progress completion percentages, but the interface does not explain what they are. - On some screens the interface denotes completed levels by showing the level name, but these two things should not be related. - Each level shows a score when it's completed with zero deaths, but this is not explained. - It's not clear what needs to be done to unlock the headbands. - Many parts of the interface are carelessly aligned. - The element given the highest visual priority on the profile screen is the episodes that are available to play, which is probably the least important thing to know in this screen. - The replays on the main menu are nice, but I would have restricted this to the levels where the left edge is blank, so that it doesn't clash with the text. Also a button to play the level being displayed would have been welcome (or at least the name/location). - The profile screen shows some episodes as completed, but I haven't completed them. - After completing a level/episode, there's no button to view a replay. It takes 13 key presses to view the replay. - The controls are listed in the interface, but sometimes the same actions will get listed in multiple places on the same screen. There's a whole load of other problems with the interface, but I've got the point across. Ultimately the levels are the most important thing and it's clear that there's where all the development time went to, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Might as well get all my grievances out, so: - If you all-gold a level in Hardcore mode, this will not register in Solo mode. - Gold seems pretty uninspired as a choice for something to collect. - If all levels had been separate (i.e. not part of episodes) they could have had different time allowances. - In an episode, sometimes the fifth level will be substantially harder than the first four, so I don't have time to complete it. If I then return to that episode later I have to re-complete the first four levels to get to the last one again. However: Overall it is a great game and I would recommend it. It just could have been a lot better.
bua este juego es la polla jajaajajaja
very cool platformer, nice movement
one of the best platformers
Classic game from my Xbox days. One of the best couch co-op titles for just jumping in, playing for a while, and turning off. Definite learning curve on how to maximize momentum and timing, but once acquired, you'll be regarded as a GOD by your gaming partners. Hours of fun and frustrations. Loads of laughs, planning moves, and strategizing. Well worth a full game price.
Underrated Platformer i ever played
