Good Game, but please add German language.
creative gameplay and amazing art style, very enjoyable, although very short ( all achievements in 1.7 hours.) Gameplay is still very enjoyable and reasonably challenging. highly recommend :)
There is a surprising amount of fun to be had in this small package! I had a great time, and would absolutely recommend. Although there were a few negatives, they are mostly nitpicks that I would hope to be addressed if the game is ever expanded upon... Pros: - I loved all of the dialogue sprinkled in throughout the gameplay, from the crowd's remarks to your opponent's quips - Each Lumi's mechanic felt wonderfully unique and used a decent amount of strategy that took several matches to master. The Lumi that utilized suits and numbers were particularly interesting, and I could totally see that mechanic being expanded upon to introduce another layer of strategy - It was cool seeing a Lumi being used by your opponent before getting it yourself! This always kept me on my feet - The game did a good job always subverting your expectations in fun and interesting ways. Like the final boss having a Lumi that I couldn't obtain was a nice point of reflection, as it showed what would have happened had your character gone down a different path - The Special Challenge Levels were a very welcome addition, as they allowed me to experiment more with different Lumi combinations where I didn't have the opportunity to in the main campaign Cons: - The narrative is barely integrated with the gameplay, which is a bit disappointing, especially with how often you're interrupted with a cinematic. I loved what little moments the narrative did shine through during the gameplay, as these moments made me feel like the character was truly alive. One thing that particularly stood our to me was how the crowd's opinion of you changed with each match - I wish there were more moments like those and you had more opportunities to immersive yourself in the world instead of in the past - As a result of not being able to use abilities on a card's first round and getting a bonus card on a two round lead, the winning player often just snowballs to victory, with little that the opponent can do. This limited comeback potential leads to me instantly restarting a round if things look too dire, instead of trying to play things out. - The enemy's intelligence is not great, and doesn't ever seem to improve, even in the Special Challenge Levels. Often times, the enemy would just throw their card off the table, ruining their momentum and allowing me to just easily snowball to victory. Even when they don't do that, they still can never recover if I get the early-game advantage. - The final conflict of control vs friendship felt extremely rushed and weak and didn't feel like it had any narrative buildup. You spend the game telling your story to your Lumi, but you never learn a thing about your Lumi in return. I wish I felt more attached to them, even if it was through a single line of dialogue.
