Cute game to waste time
Played this game as a child, nostalgia is still with me.
I remember this game from my childhood. It is very simplistic, but if you have the patience to get past the opening level, which can be a little repetitive, then the activity really builds the more pets you get. It isn't flashy, but it is quite good fun.
I was so excited to finally find my favourite animal game from when I was a kid. But I wasn´t even able to play the game because it was so full of bugs. It´s really a shame and a waste of money. I shouldnt be posible that Steam asks to pay 14,99 for such a crappy game!
Le jeu ne marche pas dès le début bug avec les personnages très mécontente !!
My Pet Hotel, developed by Independent Arts Software and published by familyplay and Markt+Technik, is a casual simulation that centers on managing a boarding facility for animals, offering a structured and accessible take on pet care. It presents a straightforward premise: animals are left in your care, and your job is to keep them healthy, clean, and happy while gradually improving your hotel. The game is clearly designed with simplicity in mind, making it easy to approach but also limiting how far its systems can develop. The gameplay revolves around completing a variety of tasks tied to animal care. Feeding, grooming, cleaning enclosures, and treating minor health issues form the core of the experience, all delivered through small, interactive mini-games. These activities are easy to understand and require little learning curve, allowing players to quickly settle into the routine. Early on, this variety gives the impression of a dynamic system, but as the game progresses, it becomes clear that most tasks follow the same basic patterns, with only slight variations depending on the animal. Each pet comes with its own needs and characteristics, which adds a touch of personality to the experience. While this helps create a sense of connection, the differences between animals are mostly cosmetic in terms of gameplay. Whether you are caring for a dog, a cat, or another type of pet, the actions required remain largely the same. This reduces the sense of depth and makes the overall loop feel more repetitive than it initially appears. The game includes light management elements that allow you to expand and customize your hotel. You can add new areas, improve facilities, and arrange your space in a way that suits your preferences. This provides a sense of progression and ownership, but the system is fairly limited. Decisions rarely carry significant consequences, and upgrades tend to feel incremental rather than transformative. The management aspect adds structure, but it does not evolve into a deeper strategic experience. Visually, My Pet Hotel adopts a bright and approachable style that matches its casual tone. The animals are designed to be appealing, and the environments are clear and functional. However, the overall presentation feels dated, with simple textures and stiff animations that can detract from immersion. The interface is easy to navigate, which supports the game’s accessibility, but it also reflects the simplicity of the underlying systems. The pacing of the game is steady and predictable. Each in-game day follows a similar routine, with tasks repeating in a consistent cycle. This can be relaxing for players who enjoy structured gameplay, but it also highlights the lack of variety. Without new mechanics or increasing complexity, the experience can begin to feel monotonous, especially during longer play sessions. One of the game’s main strengths is its accessibility. It is easy to pick up, requires little prior experience with simulation games, and avoids overwhelming the player with complex systems. This makes it particularly suitable for younger audiences or those looking for a low-pressure experience. However, this same simplicity limits its appeal for players seeking depth or long-term engagement. Ultimately, My Pet Hotel delivers a basic but functional simulation of animal care. It captures the routine and responsibility of running a pet hotel in a way that is easy to understand and enjoy in short bursts. While it has a certain charm and provides a relaxing experience, its repetitive structure and limited systems prevent it from becoming something more substantial. It is best suited for players who value simplicity and comfort over complexity and variety. Rating: 6/10
Played this game when I was very little and it was nearly exactly as I remembered. Only problem is literally no tutorial and yes it's simple but some instruction would be nice. Speaking of instruction, you can't queue actions which is frustrating but I think for its time and for a younger player it's still okay.
This game definitely shows its age, and it did not age well. There are no tooltips on the menus and no tutorial to help you learn how to play. Once I taught myself how to manage things I found myself standing idly more often than not because there's just not enough to do. They give each pet it's own needs but the needs don't mean anything. If you're looking for a management sim to keep you busy, pass this one. https://youtu.be/vKRwFjxrzkE
