Sadly this game is a mess, see the following: [olist] [*]When steering, the wheel does not follow where your hand is and extremely frequently snaps around to steering in the opposite direction that you want causing you to steer of cliffs. [*]When doing stuff as simple as changing gears, it does not follow your hand either as if it was stuck [*]Bugs exist that caused me to longer being able to accelerate forward and only backwards, making me have to restart an entire mission, as from a checkpoint didnt work as it kept that bug. (refueling the trailer before the logging truck) [*]Game is not optimized for the index controllers at all thus making you drop and grab onto absolutely everything, extremely annoying when refueling from a gascan. [*]There are invisible barriers in multiple locations where it would make sense to drive. [/olist] it's sad really as there's quite a good foundation here, but no, the experience is awful and ive had better driving from vrchat worlds and vehicles. If the devs fixed the above then i would recommend the game, but currently, no, it's too frustrating.
MudRunner VR is a virtual reality adaptation of Saber Interactive’s well-known off-road simulation series, bringing the rugged and methodical gameplay of MudRunner into a fully immersive environment. Designed specifically for VR platforms, the game places players directly in the driver’s seat of heavy-duty vehicles as they navigate some of the most unforgiving terrain imaginable. While the original MudRunner titles already focused heavily on realism and environmental physics, the transition to virtual reality transforms the experience into something far more personal and intense. Instead of watching a truck crawl through mud from a third-person perspective, players now feel as if they are physically inside the vehicle, facing the harsh wilderness firsthand. The central premise of the game remains faithful to the core concept that made the original series popular. Players are tasked with driving powerful off-road vehicles across rugged landscapes filled with deep mud, steep hills, thick forests, and unstable river crossings. Rather than racing against time or competing against other drivers, the goal is to complete logistical tasks such as transporting cargo or reaching specific destinations scattered across remote environments. The challenge lies in navigating terrain that constantly resists progress. Mud can trap vehicles, steep slopes can cause them to slide backward, and poorly chosen routes can lead to complete immobilization. Success often requires patience, careful planning, and a willingness to move slowly while observing how the terrain reacts to the vehicle. What sets MudRunner VR apart from its traditional counterparts is the strong sense of immersion created by virtual reality. Sitting inside the cab of a massive truck while surrounded by muddy forests and rocky paths creates a convincing feeling of presence. Players can look around the cabin, check their surroundings, and examine the terrain directly from the driver’s perspective. This makes even simple tasks such as steering around obstacles or climbing a hill feel more intense than in a standard simulation. The VR format also enhances the scale of the vehicles and environments, making the machinery feel heavy and powerful while emphasizing the vastness of the wilderness around the player. Gameplay revolves around completing various missions spread across multiple environments. These tasks often involve transporting materials, delivering supplies, or reaching distant checkpoints while overcoming the obstacles that stand in the way. Each mission requires players to carefully study the terrain before choosing a route. The map system provides some guidance, but it rarely reveals the full difficulty of the environment. Players must constantly adapt to changing conditions such as slippery ground, water hazards, and uneven surfaces that can shift the balance of the vehicle. The game features a selection of off-road vehicles, each designed with unique characteristics that influence how they perform in different situations. Some trucks are built for carrying heavy cargo, while others are better suited for navigating narrow trails or climbing steep terrain. Choosing the right vehicle for a mission becomes an important strategic decision. A powerful truck may handle heavy loads more effectively, but it might also struggle in tight spaces or deep mud compared to a lighter vehicle. Learning how each vehicle behaves under different conditions is part of the overall challenge. Virtual reality also introduces new forms of interaction that were not present in earlier versions of the series. Players can physically interact with elements inside the vehicle cabin, such as maps or controls, which adds an extra layer of immersion. In certain situations, players can even leave the vehicle to inspect their surroundings or plan the next stage of their journey more carefully. These mechanics help reinforce the feeling that the player is not simply controlling a truck but actively participating in an off-road expedition. Visually, the game focuses on environmental realism rather than high-end graphical spectacle. The landscapes are filled with muddy roads, dense forests, rivers, and rocky trails that create a believable natural setting. While the graphics may not push the limits of modern hardware, the VR perspective adds depth and scale that enhance the experience significantly. The sound design also plays an important role, with the rumbling of engines, the grinding of tires in mud, and the splashing of water all contributing to the illusion of operating heavy machinery in the wilderness. Despite its immersive strengths, the game does have certain limitations. Compared to the larger non-VR titles in the MudRunner and SnowRunner series, the amount of content is somewhat smaller. There are fewer vehicles, missions, and environments available, which may leave some players wishing for a broader range of activities. Additionally, the transition to VR introduces some control challenges that can make precise driving more difficult, particularly for players who are not accustomed to simulation-style gameplay in virtual reality. Another issue is that the slow-paced nature of the gameplay may not appeal to everyone. The game emphasizes careful movement and realistic vehicle behavior rather than speed or action. Players looking for fast-paced racing or dramatic off-road stunts may find the deliberate pace frustrating. However, for players who appreciate simulation experiences and enjoy solving logistical challenges, this slower approach is part of the game’s appeal. Overall, MudRunner VR offers an interesting reinterpretation of the off-road simulation genre within a virtual reality environment. While it may not match the scale and content of its traditional counterparts, the immersive perspective transforms the act of navigating muddy terrain into a far more engaging experience. The combination of realistic vehicle physics, challenging landscapes, and VR interaction creates moments of genuine tension as players struggle to push their vehicles through hostile environments. For fans of the MudRunner series or players interested in vehicle simulations, the game provides a unique opportunity to experience off-road driving from inside the cockpit. Although the limited content and occasional technical compromises prevent it from fully reaching the depth of the original games, the immersive qualities of virtual reality make it a worthwhile experience for those seeking a slower, more methodical driving simulation.
I believe in Steam reviews, honestly. I think it's a great way to judge the game before buying. But that's the case only when there's like over 9000 of them. Unfortunately, it's never so with VR games. The amount of reviews is almost always abysmal. Half of them is someone fighting with his/her own headset setup and there would be nothing about the game itself. What a shame, really. This game is a real gem of a VR experience in my opinion! Even more so for a Snowrunner/Mudrunner fan. It takes a new spin on all the mundane mechanics from the full game. Take the winch for example. You have to get out from the car (yeah, leaving the car and walking around was always the thing I was dreaming about in Snowrunner), take the hook and put it on the desired object. It feels so damn slow after those spiderman-esque acrobatics in the main game, but also feels SO DAMN GOOD! And all the other things, like the need to find the proper switch, a handle, or a button to turn lights/wipers/AWD in the new truck or car. You feel so connected to the thing you're driving. I'm not sure how long it is, or how expansive it is. I see it has a open roam mode (with missions, I think), not only the story mode, and I'm only on the second story mission. Even now I feel it worth its money. It's like a Snowrunner's dream. Just don't expect the full experience here. The mud physics are definitely simplified (though they are still there). The graphics are a lot simpler too, though serviceable in my opinion. You'll get pretty views and atmosphere. The controls are fine. You can use trigger for the acceleration and brake. You can also use manual shifter physically in the game (would recommend, feels very natural). So, all in all, this game is like Snowrunner experience 2.0 (with getting out of the car, manual labor, etc). The only negatives I'd mention are the absence of wheel support (no, really, what a missed opportunity!), and maybe that it's kinda abandoned, no new DLCs, no expansions - yet that's totally understandable. I didn't face any technical difficulties. Everything's working fine on PSVR2. The world movement (when you're moving using sticks) outside the car is somewhat choppy, but all the items, cars/trucks move fine. It's not that irritating though.
Просто лютый ♥♥♥♥♥♥ с оптимизацией. Не знаю что не так I5 13400 + 4060, но оно так ебёт фпс и прорисовку игры что играть в это просто не возможно
